Sirpent Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 Just wanted to post that for the past week or two I have been having problems with the pages of the site loading, clicking between forum threads, even posting msg's etc take a long time, refresh rate is anywhere up to a minute at times. Having spoken to Peter Mc today, he advised he is having the same problem. The problem isn't my PC as I can open another Tab and load and refresh times are no problem. If anyone else is experiencing this can you post in this thread and hopefully Gav can look into it if it is a host problem. Cheers John Quote
C.A.R. Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 It's fine at my end. Perhaps you're browsing at times when there is high server load? Quote
lightmaster240z Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 Me to it just took over twenty second to just load the post section to post this Bruce Quote
C.A.R. Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 Try clearing your cookies, cache & Temp. internet fies Quote
Sirpent Posted October 20, 2011 Author Posted October 20, 2011 Tried all that Lurch This is the only site showing this problem, as I said I can open 3 other tabs and sites at the same time and there is no delay in loading or refreshing on those sites but the forum site loads and refreshes at a snails pace. handsandwhich Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 Fine on this end. Pages load in a couple of seconds. I have noticed if I look at this site at work, it does load reasonably fast but it takes a long time to load the page fully for some reason. Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted October 20, 2011 Administrators Posted October 20, 2011 Thanks for letting me know guys, this might be a bit tricky to troubleshoot. Just wondering: @John / @Bruce - what browser do you guys use? Can you also tell me if it happens at a specific time of day? For the most part I find the site quick. Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted October 20, 2011 Administrators Posted October 20, 2011 Just had a quick look at a Google Analytics report for site speed seems to show majority of page views in the 1-7 second range. With some outliers in higher groups. Is there specific pages of the site that are slow? You forum threads, I'm wondering if you have any other software on your machine like plugins for your browser (ad blocking software?) or firewall software? Quote
lightmaster240z Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 Nothing that I know of but point me and i will look Quote
Sirpent Posted October 20, 2011 Author Posted October 20, 2011 Hi Gav Using Firefox here, and all pages load at a snails pace, regardless of time of day or night. I can open other tabs and other sites at the same time as I am on the forum and no issues at all Cheers John Quote
Zeddophile Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 Just went for a quick click around the site (Firefox 8 ), and it seems fine to me? Other sites often run a bit slow for me, but this one is fine. Reminds me of a problem I had with Ebay a while ago, where it would run painfully slow on my computer, despite all other sites working fine, but would run fine on my laptop. Can't remember if I ever found the cause of that before I reinstalled this computer for another reason... Quote
RB30X Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 Thanks for letting me know guys, this might be a bit tricky to troubleshoot. It's not as complicated as you think Gav. A set of diff gears will get it off the line quicker, and I'm pretty sure Peter mac could work some magic on the heads and make it the quickest site in town. Quote
peter mc Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 hehehehe ...yer i have had lots of problems of late with the speed of the site upload and reading messages can take up to a min and some times it wont Quote
nizm0zed Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 yea, its just started going slow for me now.... Took about a minute for the reply window to come up when i helped out in Z8253's rb25 thread. running Firefox 3.6.23 Haven't cleared any cookies or cache yet, but all other websites seem ok. Still very usable though, i wouldn't even bother bringing it up if there wasn't a current thread... Quote
perrin_07 Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 i generally have no issue regarding what time of day it is. i have google chrome 14.0.8, im also on wifi wireless. firefox isnt as good as it used to be since google chrome came about. firefox had issues with java i think....read up on java and it should fix alot of issues with firefox. Sometimes a quick F5(refresh) will help it along its way! Quote
MaygZ Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 I'm using chrome and having no problems with speed at all. Quote
