Wheel suggestions w/AZC Wilwoods?

Hey guys, I'm in a little bit of a pickle with the choice of wheels to fit over the 12.2" Wilwood brake kit from AZC so I need some advice from anyone in the know or actually runs the kit and what wheels they have.

 

The car has molded flared guards with after market ground control coil overs with Eibach springs. From what I've seen the flares are about the same size as the ZG ones.

 

For price I'm not really wanting to pay 6-700 per rim so am checking out what Rota has to offer and am considering these - Rota RB's but I'm slightly worried 17" is too big and 16" may be too small.

I have the AZC 6pots, 12.2" rotors up front with 15x7 +/-15 offset Koing Rewinds and they just barely fit. Had to move the wheel weights across the width of the rim but it leaves a few mm gap.

 

 

I believe BenZed said that Watanabe R-Type's (Unsure of the specifications) Do not fit unless a wheel spacer is attached.

hmm ok, my 15's inner lip must just have a shitty design then (rises about an inch).

Hello James,

                I had a similar problem when I went with 300mm rotors from Hopper Stoppers. 16" wheels were recommended and cleared fine, but the tyre choice (width wise) is not as great as the 17" tyres. If I could do it again I would go with the 17" wheels.

Gav I think you will find they are too tight for that rim.

I had the Mustang disc (287mm)/Z32 caliper combo with those wheels and the caliper just cleared the spokes by about 4mm? Inside the wheel clearance was fine but tight against the spokes. I know the wheel didn't flex or else I would've heard it!

Thanks guys, I was eyeing off the Willwood Caliper set up on Gumtree for the 240z in Melbourne but I can't justify needing new wheels also at this stage.

Hi James,

 

I have the Performance 8 spoke Super light GTR copies, -4 or +4 offset not sure, 16 x 8's had no problem fitting the 6 pot willwoods , i tried a guys 15 x 8 GTR's and there was a bee's dick clearance between the rim and the calliper's, any stone getting wedged would damage the rims so i went with the 16's, not sure what the struts are. Give me call if you want to come up and check them out.

Pzg302 here ran the Willwoods with 15's using Verada discs, no problems.

James i got a few sets of the Wata Type R knockoffs in 19x9 at neg 13, go squeezy and a bit of guard massage, will just fit, or go a fat 225 or a 245 and run flares.

Easy enough to bring them back to a neg 8 mm.

Im running azc brake kit with 6 spot calipers and 12.2 disc my 17x7 fr simmons would not fit over them Lucky i had set a set of 18x8 Om simmons which did fit Have since sourced a set of 17x8 Om simmons for my track wheels

Here in NZ we have a few guys running the AZC setup and Rota RK-R in 15x8 - that is with the 12.2" rotors - not a lot of room and you need to have weights not on the inside of the rim (unless you can get them on the back of a spoke)

 

Also 15x8 Minilite (genuine) will work with a 12.2" and Wilwood 4 pot superlite caliper - just again no weights on the inside of the rim
