grretc Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 Hi everyone, I'm new to viczcar here. I stumbled upon the site while searching for some parts and I found it to be really cool! I decided to join just to see what it's like here, and everyone seems pretty friendly. I'm from America, and it seems as if this is an Australian Z forum. I guess it's true that you guys do say the word "mate" which is pretty cool. I'm about to leave my house right now to pick up a 1971 Datsun 240z that has been in storage since 1984. I plan to restore this one back to original, even if it has the butterscotch brown interior that people in America seem to hate. I don't know how it is over here, but I kinda like it! I joined hoping I can get more information from both sides of the world. People tell me Z's are sort of rare in Australia. Is that true? I'm not sure, but if it is I can sure try my best if you guys need parts. I have an early 260z that I plan to have as a weekend warrior soon once everything is settled in. Quote
Sirpent Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 Hey MATE Welcome, its always good to see one of our ancestral cousins from across the ditch join, even though for some strange reasons you guys just seem to fade away after a couple of posts. I'm not sure, but if it is I can sure try my best if you guys need parts. Visa versa, same goes this way, if you find something or need something just post away and we will see what we can do. Good luck with the Z, should be a brilliant car considering its been in storage since the 80's. Cheers John Quote
FLEXZED Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 Hey MATE Welcome to the forum, you picked a great car to buy good luck with it zed are getting rare here in Australia, but we have a good bunch of guys how love them and restore them Your offer to to source parts of in the states is awesome, and i am sure alot of guys on here will ask you for many parts again welcome and enjoy Loui Quote

grretc Posted May 17, 2011 Author Posted May 17, 2011 Oh cool! So everyone on here is pretty friendly. As for sticking around..I'm sure I'll be around every now and then I won't be super active, but then again I'm not even super active in posting a lot in the forums that Americans use. I'm actually looking for a part from a 240z. It's the front turn signals that go in the front valence under the headlight. Does anybody have a pair they're willing to part with? I'm looking to buy! PLEASE PM IF YOU DO. As for the parts from the United States, I'm not sure what you guys are looking to get, like what would be rare for you guys, but I have a ton of 240z parts from the 240's that I've parted out. I'm willing to ship if you guys are willing to pay the shipping costs. If anyone wants to trade fro stuff I'm sure we can work something out. Are the cars in Australia RHD? I'd be interested in trading whole cars! What's a bloke? haha Quote
KatoKid Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 Hi mate! Welcome abaoard, they are a great bunch with the exception of a few! What part of the US are you from? Im looking for a couple of rust free early 240 doors, wont be cheap to freight but Im prepared to pay for the right doors. Thanks. Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted May 17, 2011 Moderators Posted May 17, 2011 Welcome... Usually from the US we need your passenger side door parts; as at our end that would be the drivers side which parts are always worn out. Little detail parts are always welcome like badges and knobs etc..I know the US guys are always after the "Euro spec" tail and front lights which we have. I'm sure we can help each other out. Quote
grretc Posted May 17, 2011 Author Posted May 17, 2011 Anyone looking for parts from the US can contact me via email at grretc240z@gmail.com I can locate almost any part for you guys. Especially doors and emblems. I'm sure we can work out a trade or something. Quote

As anyone would tell you on this forum, I love my 'Zed's' Cheers, Rev. Hey Rev, What's Oz? I'm located near San Francisco, so I can get a lot of rust free or near rust free things. Florida is a long long way from where I am..like on the other side of the US. When will be coming? There are a bunch of Z's in Florida, and in the the states around it. Hah, I like how you guys call them Zeds Quote

Cheers hahaha alright this will become a mix for me. I'll say Z and you guys say Zed. Nice integration. Thanks for the welcome! People here seem to be super friendly. I just saw your post for a turbo. They don't have any in Oz? Nice word Oz, now I don't have to type out Australia! Maybe we can trade! Quote
C.A.R. Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 Welcome. If you ever visit 'Oz' be wary of the 'Drop Bears'... Quote
zeds4ever Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 G'day MATE, welcome to the best "Forum" in Ozland . By the way all our real Ausie cars are RHD as we drive on the right side of the road or is it the left. Oh well. HaHa. No malice intended. Hope you get used to our sense of humour. LOL. Regards: Alan. Quote
sco_aus Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 Yes we have turbos here, but at a very inflated price, in fact, everything is inflated over here, so its just cheaper to buy State side and ship back here (as long as it isn't more than $1k which we have to pay tax on, though it is probably still cheaper). grretc Posted January 13, 2012 Author Posted January 13, 2012 I'm back! I know I know this is an old thread from back when I introduced myself. I disappeared for awhile during the middle of a transaction and I feel terrible for it, but I'm back and my goal is to sign in at least once a week to respond to messages. I'll be posting some stuff for sale hopefully soon, and hopefully I'll be purchasing some stuff because I was finally able to pick up my FairladyZ. Yes guys, I have bought a RHD Zed here in the states. It was definitely not easy to find but all worth it. Quote
