NZeder Posted February 22, 2011 Posted February 22, 2011 Yes not good for those down in Christchurch in the South Island. Both Martin (gaijin) and I are Auckland based (North Island). I hope all is well for those I know down in the CHCH, I have heard that some people I know are fine as are their families. It is bad - and I am getting the same news feed/reports as you guys just more. The main TV channel here had extended news from 6pm - 11pm. My thoughts and prayers and with the people/fellow kiwis, visitors, guests to NZ who may have been lost in this disaster. Quote

They have announced some 200 Aussie emergency crew are flying over if not already there.... Our thoughts are with you all. Quote

The fantastic & prompt professional (eg. search & rescue, police etc) help from Australia which is itself still reeling from a recent series of major flood, cyclone & bushfire events, is duly noted & extremely appreciated.
