Retro Z Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 Before i start i am not a business, just wanted to see if anyone is after Rota wheels at a discounted price. I wont be making any $$ on this. Basically been negotiating with Rota Wheels Australia about purchasing a set of Rota RB-R/X wheels for my 260z. Retail at the moment is $1370 for a full set of 17x9.0-13 & 17x9.5-19 delivered to Melbourne. Anyways after discussion with Rota they can do a deal for $900 a set but that would mean i need to buy 5 sets of the 17x9's and 5 sets of the 17x9.5. Just wondering if anyones interested. Can be in any colour although each pallet has to be same width/offset hence why we need 2 pallets for the staggered fitment. Was told it will take 8 weeks to arrive once order in put through. And i can take care of it all and can be collected from me in Melbourne or i can send at your expense. Let me know and if i can gather 5 or more people we can go ahead with this... as its over $400 savings a set. The more we buy the cheaper it gets. If you guys dont mind getting 17x9.5-19's all round we just need 5 people including me. Payment is 50% upfront the other 50% on delivery. Thanks Tai Quote
zzzzed Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 we already have some one supplying rotor wheels to this forum Quote
RB30X Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 Did you see if otomoto could do a group buy? Quote
luvemfast Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 we already have some one supplying rota wheels to this forum +1 And you can get whatever size you want, for much the same price Quote
luvemfast Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 thanx for fixing my spelling error No worries Mick, I didn't want to look like a douche too Quote
zzzzed Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 haha your to nice 1 karma point for you lol Quote
MaygZ Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 Can someone with more experience and knowledge that I please tell me what size tyres would fit best on the 17x9.5 rims? Will they fit in guards (front and rear) without flares? Will they fit with flares? Would they require coil-overs? Obviously I would rather do a similar deal with BenZed, as he has has given our community great support, but I really don't think that Candy should be jumped on. He (she) has made some inq's about wheels, has thought outside the square a little, and come back to us with this offer. It looks to me to be a very good offer, if you're looking for that size and style. Ben, can you do anything similar to this offer? While on the subject, and I'm sure it's been debated on another thread but I'm tired :'( , I was originally thinking of 16's, so which has a better look, drive and selection of tyre (16's or 17's)? haha your to nice 1 karma point for you lol Mick, it's 'haha YOU'RE TOO nice ....' Do I get a thanks and +1 too?? Simons can spell. MaygZ Quote
zzzzed Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 spelling is not my strong point if you have not noticed hehe but i do the best i can. Unfortunately my computer has spell check, but no grammar or punctuation check 17x 9.5 rota's will need 245 or 255 tires and will not fit in side the guards Quote
Riceburner Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 Depends on the offset, I believe GL240z runs 245's on his 240z track car with coil overs. The widest I could fit with standard suspension was 225's. Quote
Roberto Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 I think you will struggle to find 10 people that will all want a set of rbx's, right now. Group buy things tend to make me nervous as you only need one person to not follow through and the whole thing goes pear shaped. Timely message as I got my zg flares delivered today. Quote

MaygZ I have a 260z 2+2 with the 17x9 -13 on the front and 17x9.5 -19 on the rear, the tyres are 225/45's on the front and 235/45's on the rear, I have no issues after getting my guards rolled and slightly flared. My only regret is that I bought 16x8's before going to the 17's, the rota rb's are a tough old school looking wheel that would look good on nearly any old car, especially a Z. Anyway, that's my personal opinon, each to their own I guess, cheers, John Quote
Scando Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 Getting a bit off topic but this may be useful for anybody looking at Rota RB's who intends on doing track days. This is what I found when I put the RB's on my car with ZG flares and coil-overs. I originally wanted to go 17x9's all round so I could swap the wheels from front to rear and get the best out of my tyres. I soon worked out that 17x9's wouldn't fit on the front with 255 tyres unless you ran wider flares than the ZG ones. I would have to go to 225's or something like that which seems a bit pointless to me as the whole point is to get as much tyre on the ground as possible. I ended up going 17x8.5's on the front with 245 tyres and it fits perfectly as the 8.5's are a better offset for the front. On the rear you could go out to 17x9.5 no worries but nobody I know of makes a decent 17inch semi-slick in anything wider than a 255. As a 9inch rim is the perfect fitment for a 255 it makes sense to run 17x9's on the rear. Just my 2 cents worth Quote
JPav_260z Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 Got any pictures John? yeah I think for a classified we have gone a bit off topic, click on my gallery to see pics of my car Quote
Retro Z Posted October 28, 2010 Author Posted October 28, 2010 Hey guys. To be honest I called otomoto a few weeks ago and they weren't interested in my enquiry to purchase. Therefore I went to Rota Australia and got this offer. Which I thought was good..thinking others along with myself could benefit. I don't mean to tread on any toes, by any means. Of course if BenZed can do similar I will purchase through him. I know I'm only a new member on here and all, but I've been an active member on skylines australia for years and can be verified on there if needbe. Thanks guys. Tai (btw I'm male) =) Quote
wildy55 Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 Hey there What did you end up doing re the wheels? I'm looking for a set and was just looking for info on where/how to buy. Cheers Quote
sco_aus Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 As far as I know, Ben has stopped supplying Rotas, however does original Watanabes now. $900 is actually a really good price, but as Shane said and having the same wheels and flares as him, 8.5 front and 9 inch rear is a much better way to go. If a group buy went ahead and it was similar price, I would be interested for a second set of racing wheels/spares etc. Quote
wildy55 Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 So if Ben can't get the Rotas, are there any other guys out there interested in a group thing? What are the options here? And while I'm on, what are the pros and cons for 16-inchers and the 17s? I'm planning on ZG flares, standard spring height rear, inch lower front, with 235/40 fronts and 225/40 rears on 17" rims. Am I missing anything obvious? Quote
d3c0y Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 Rota dont do a 16" wheel to suit a Z-G flair Quote
Whittie Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 with 235/40 fronts and 225/40 rears on 17" rims. Am I missing anything obvious? Usually you'd have larger rears than front considering it's a rwd car, not to mention there is more clearance in the rear.... ZG flares I believe are usually 9" front, 9.5" rear, so more like a 245 front, 265 rear. Quote
wildy55 Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 Just been onto Rota (Aus) and have the following prices: 17 x 9.5 (set of four) $1450 (delivered to Sydney) 17 x 9/ 17x 9.5 (two of each) $1350. Does anyone know of anyway to get these wheels cheaper? Quote
Ledge Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 Hi If someone is doing a group purchase on 2 x 17 x 9 and 2 x 17 x 9.5 I would be in Regards Paul Quote
Retro Z Posted January 24, 2011 Author Posted January 24, 2011 I can still organise this, but last time round nobody wanted in..and was giving me grief saying that benzed sells them etc. Anyway Will need at least 5 people who are willing to put a 50% deposit and about a 6 week wait before we go ahead. Quote
wildy55 Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 What price for the group buy? I'd be in and willing to put the 50% down if the price is right... Quote
