RBZ 260 Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 personaly ill get the car cleaned up and looking good and running good with what u got. than u can update things that YOU think are necessary down the track. as time goes on you change your plans and ideas so dont dwell too much on them. get it going and enjoy it. once u get bored than time to spice things up a bit you have more knowledge and better direction which you want to head down. personaly twin turbo is more of a wank factor.. yeah sure two smaller turbos give u bit more power and better drivability than one huge one. but there is two of them extra cost for not much extra performance. though i have been in a skyline with RB20det with turbo size that can swallow small children. yeah made 400gazilion kws but it hit at 5500rpm and than it was all over at 7000rpm. yeah it hit like few tons of bricks but for very short time. not usable at all besides dyno shootouts. you will find lot on info on the forum and lot of guys will help you out with L, RB, SR, 1JZ,V8 and latest addition is a 20B rotary Z too. so we got them all good luck and enjoy the build make sure u put progress pics. some of us like to check them out during work hrs Quote
Scoota G Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 Don't think anyone has asked but is the engine you got with it the original engine? I think for you the best option would be the L28 with the Electronic ignition. Also triples can be set up over a period of time, i built a set of triple dellortos over a few months which ended up costing me $1000 all up. The second set i bulit for $700 because i knew prices by then and had a clearer idea of what i was looking for. Perhaps an L28 with the fuel injection is a good idea. All info can be found on this forum. Quote
zzzzed Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 hey scota what do u mean buy original original as in matching numbers to the chassis. (the motor the car was born with) Quote
Scoota G Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 Yea what 4zed said. Check the id plate and the engine number to see if it is. Quote
Brabham Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 Given that it looks pretty original I would keep the stock engine and focus on the bodywork first as it is the hardest and most time consuming thing to do. Once you have got your shell done and painted then you can drive it around and decide if you want to spend more money on the engine/drivetrain. L28 turbo is probably the easiest way to go and it could be done so you can return the car to stock if you like. Enjoy the sanding for the time being! Quote
