eire05 Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 I was in Melbourne for the weekend and while sat on the tram I was showing my girlfriend the car which was a Zed sat at the lights, unfortunately he didn't suss the cop behind him and floored it when the lights hit green. Hope you got off with a warning!!

DAT392 Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 It was me and I didnt floor it, just in the wrong place at the wrong time.Whats with all the comments on the bonnet.You blokes are unbeleivable.Anyway the cop pulled us over because the rear exhaust was too low as I just fitted new lowered king springs as advised by suspension place and it was low.Thus the goose of a cop started on other silly things like do you have a mega stereo in the car,you must have a big bore exhaust as it sounds loud,do you have a toploader,trick shifter cause it looks like its got sharp edges.Give me a break!Thus he did defect the car.Its been raised and roadworthied.Anyway you would be an idiot to floor any car in collin st on a friday night.We drove past them prior as they had pulled over a cyclist, so the goose who put this photo up should get his facts right.The coppers said if it wasnt us they were going to pull over my mates in there 69 camaro anyway.They are on a blitz.Also my datto is very customised not everyones cup of tea but I sense a bit of negativity from you blokes.Thought it would be fun to learn more about others cars maybe not.Question to all is you z 100% roadworthy?I think not!

A good percentage of cars on the road today I'm sure are not roadworthy; I know mine isn't! (windscreen and just other minor $h1ty things). How many cars do you see with no rear lights operating at all? Or faded rear number plates...I thought they had a blitz on that years ago.....yet I see them on a daily basis.

All i can reccomend in those instances is just to cop it sweet, dont aggravate them. once they have finished and scooted off to krispy kreme, head down to the station and have a chat with thier boss. It helps greatly if you know the rules and how they apply to your car. all the rules are publicly available. I know im going to have this fun once my zed is on the road, but fortunately im an ex rego inspector, so i know what im on about most of the time. and yea, as zedman said, cops can defect anything they want. The defect notice is very cleverly worded so that "In the officers opinion there is something wrong and it requires an inspection by an authorised inspector" Basically it rubber stamps them to not know a single thing about what they claim. its wrong, but it'll never change.

DAT392 Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 Its true what you guys are saying but as the copper said,to his belief the car was defective and if it isnt, then the yellow sticker will come off pretty easily.So there for you really cant argue and just cop it on the chin.If you argue they could have you on the side of the road for ages.We sat for 5 minutes!Its just more of an inconvenience and expense as stated by others here.Although you do come across some coppers who are ok, like about 6months ago after being pulled over in healsville on a sunday morning cruise.They were pulling everyone over, family wagons etc near the wineries and the cop checked my car quickly and sent me on my way with no dramas,he was probably more fascinated than anything.I have been pretty lucky with this car only being pulled over 4 times in 14 years.They are making it more difficult though and I will probably never drive on a friday night in or near the city again.Its not worth it.Day time no probs.
