130 starts and finally a win. great race by red bull team. he truly deserved the win.

i was going to post but didn't want to spoil it for those that are watching the delayed coverage. :P

I walked out of the lounge room after the drive through thinking here comes the bad luck again, but had to come back after 5 mins to see what was happening, I couldn't sit still for the rest of the race.

I don't think I've been that pumped watching sport before or seen that much emotion from a driver after a race, that made my day!

Posted

Yeah was good to see. I thought he was gone after that drive through. I still can't get my head around him beating all those other teams and drivers. How can there be such a big turn around?

Posted

Did anyone catch him on the team radio after he crossed the line?

"F*cking beauty! Yes yes yes yes yes..." He was nearly crying...

Posted

Yeah I caught that straight away Lurch, that was gold. I'm thinking now he has the monkey off his back a possible string of wins might be happening, it would be great to see another 3 or 4 wins this season. :)

Indeed. He's broken his Duck now :P

He's 3rd in the WDC, so he's definitely a contender if he can pull off some more wins.

Vettel is fast though...

I popped into the Queanbeyan newsagent this morning on the main street...His hometown is abuzz !!  ;D ;D

He deserves it. well done

I cracked it at the TV after they gave him that bloddy drive through, but 10 laps latter he was right back in it.

Well done, should have had is maden win at Monoco 3yrs ago.  Pole and a win, didn't quite end up like the "boring race" he was hoping for but the right result in the end

Just reading through some posts due to boredom at work.  Re Mark Webber

I really think this is his best shot at F1 Drivers Champion.  With 6 different race winners so far this year and his consistent style anything can happen.  I noticed on SportsBet he was $16 to take it out. Not bad considering hes 2nd atm and traditionally has his strongest races left (German, Brazil Gps).

I love seeing him do well after almost a decade of staying up late and being stoked with a 7th place finish in an old Jag or Williams.  Especially since there are so many Webber haters as well out there.  typical Australian tall poppy syndrome

What do you guys reckon his chances are for driving with Ferrari in 2013.  Hes great mates with Alonso, but a strong finsih this year wil make it hard to leave....

How about Monaco.

It was nice of webby to hold back the rest of the field so vettel could cut some nice laps then all of a sudden his Tyres 'turn on' when vettel pits but because they took a bit longer than expected vettel didn't come back out in first. Would vettel do that for webber?

Posted

You know he wouldn't RB, not a chance.  As for tall poppy, it's bloody frustrating that a lot of Aussies don't support their own country man.  Having said that, a lot of the complaints about him, I have to say are reasonably warranted.  eg. blaming everything but his own driving for not finishing or starting well or simply his poor record of starts.  Best qualifier out there, except he cocks it on the start most of the time...  Frustrating.

Agreed with both. His starts are appauling, and seem to get worse the better his car gets.

Vettel wouldnt have done that at all, hes so cut throat even against his temamates but i do still like him (even though he ruined Webbers potential first ever victory by running up his arse in the wet).

Agree with his criticism but hell, we havent has a 'decent' F1 driver for 30+yrs, gotta get behind him just for that.

What about Geoff Brabham??? Great driver just a pity he didn't have the budget to run in a better team than Simtek, and once Roalnd was killed that was the beggining of the end for the Simtek team. He certainly showed his talent in sports cars after his stint in F1

Webber might not end up going to Ferrari in 2013 because Vettel has apparently signed a pre-contract agreement to go to Ferrari in 2014... Don't know how that works but hey he better be good to unseat Alonso who still manages to win races in a terrible car.

Posted

Well, the family did and I think he did a celebrity f1 drive in melb. Think orignal post meant Jack but anyway...

Pre organised agreement, what 4 years in advance? Hmmm

I dont think Vettel would be a good fit at Ferrari....

Geoff Brabham never drove F1.

Oops, sorry twas the other one David, who still did have stellar sports car career after F1 including a le mans win or tw
