waxhead Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 I have been in touch with a chinese company about some forged rods for my l28. Im looking to set up a group buy if anyone else is interested in them. The cost will be 350 usa dollars plus freight which would be about $50 this comes in at about 500 aussie dollars delevered China is where most of the major companies are getting there rods made. If you interested then contact me through here I can get them in 133 (L24) and also 130.3 (L28) lengths Quote
waxhead Posted June 15, 2009 Author Posted June 15, 2009 The more people interested the cheaper i can get them Quote
Vindicare Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 these arn't the one which were on ebay like last year are they? Apparently they were designed terribly and didn't work. search hybridz Just thought I'd check frank280zx used them I think Quote
waxhead Posted June 15, 2009 Author Posted June 15, 2009 No they are not on ebay or never were Im going to bring them in myself if i get enough interest i will bring in a few sets Quote
dazzed Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 is there a bit more information about them, such as weight ,material grade , maybe some pics too, as a failure in this department can be more costly than $500 smackas Quote
luvemfast Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 is there a bit more information about them, such as weight ,material grade , maybe some pics too, as a failure in this department can be more costly than $500 smackas +1 Quote
waxhead Posted June 16, 2009 Author Posted June 16, 2009 Yes I will see what i can find out. Im just trying to judge interest . Can i put you guys down as interested if They meet your stds Its not a commitment to buy just an expression of interest Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted June 16, 2009 Administrators Posted June 16, 2009 +1 for potential interest depending on specifications of the rods. As Nick said I'd be interested in 137.0's if they were available. Quote
NZeder Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 What piston does a 137 let you run LD28 crank and custom JUN or others from Japan designed for the L14/LD28 setup my last stroker was made with L14 rod. Quote
fufu Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 another +1 for L14 rods Of course if you can make them as hot as spool, even better. Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted June 16, 2009 Administrators Posted June 16, 2009 Another advantage of being able to get L14 rods is that you would probably find alot of people in the US would be interested in them if they were cheap enough, reliable and easy to get. They use the L24 rod because its cheap and easy to obtain. I don't believe they got the L20 rod locally either, hence the reason they don't use L20 and L14 rods. I've got 2 sets of L14 rods (12 in total) but it took me 3-4 years to find them. It depends on your needs and application. Standard rods though are quite solid, its just hard to find them in certain sizes now (ie: l14 rods). Quote
Vindicare Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 Is this going to be a proven design? Tested? Come with ARP hardware? Spool imports sell forged rods for the L28 if anyone doesn't know, another option which is local? think they are about $800 though. Quote
Aaron Neubauer Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Spools L28 rods go for $600. I asked about custom lengths not so long ago, the minimum batch size is 36 rods at $150 per rod. Quote
waxhead Posted June 18, 2009 Author Posted June 18, 2009 At 600 for a set i am going to go for spool , its hardly worth me doing it myself Quote
fufu Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 I still think its silly how Spool haven't made the L14 rods as a standard. How much market they are losing. But i guess it isn't known to them yet. Maybe in due time. Quote
