Hey guys.  Just watching the news and saw that you are being hit hard by the fires and also just saw that there is a fire at Narrewarren and I know a few of you are from there, so take care and stay safe.

Best wishes and good luck.

Scott

Yeah I was in a car about 5 min drive from Kinglake yesterday at about 7:30pm

very weird place to be, hard too explain.

It was like driving around at night, no sun light at all through the smoke.

Didn't realize how bad it was until we got back into Melbourne at 10pm

Sad to hear about the losses,

Our family has a house in Kinglake, we're not sure if its still standing. At this stage looks unlikely. A family friend was staying in the house, he managed to get out just in time. He doesn't think the house will still be there.

He was lucky from the looks of it, sad thing is the house was built by my great grandfather and had lots of memories for my family.

Wish Google Earth was updated every 24-hours. I could see if the house was still standing.

Yeah my boss was on the news and his house in Marysville was on fire when he left it and just made it out. Lost all his animals, no time to get them out. He thinks his neighbors died as he saw them only 10mins before he left. Pretty tragic for a lot of people. Problem is it's not over. All I can say is don't hang around just get out of there. Can always rebuild a house.I hope your family is OK Gavin. I hear not many houses are left around the Kinglake area.

A shocker alright - been on the news here all day in NZ. NZ govt has offered 100 NZ fire fighter to fly over and relieve - they can go in 48 hours notice and are waiting for the call.

Be safe all in Vic

My family is fine thankfully, not sure if the house will still be there though. I feel sorry for those who have died and lost alot more than us though, can't imagine what it would be like to die in a firestorm like that.

the death toll is now at 173... there saying if they catch the person responisible he will be charged with arson and mass amounts of man slaughter.. will be in jail for life.

starting to hear bad stories about distant family friends etc, worst has been people who evacutaed to a safe house only to be trapt and die there...

I'm down in tassie atm but it will be weird coming back and seeing it all, specially since we have been discussing that our family should move to panton hill/kinglake over the last few months

Yeah definently scary, I know 10 people (luckily my immediate family are all safe) that were in the areas that are still missing

All really good knowledgeable people that i thought would have gone from the fires in time but still cant get calls through,

One of which is my Old Outdoor ed teacher who was really witty on outdoorsy things Who also grew flowers for a few flower shops That lived in Kinglake but still havent heard from anyone but still hoping for the best

This address are 2 photo's taken by my boss as his house burnt next to his car he was trapped in. Click on the Russell & Vickie 9 min ABC story for full details. He came in for an hour yesterday. His front headlight on his 200K Merc was all melted and his car still smelt of smoke. He was lucky to tell the tale.
