nuclear_z Posted December 30, 2008 Author Posted December 30, 2008 Well progress I have retrimmed the transmission tunnel in black vinyl and it looks infinately better than the brown cross hatch. I still have the original covering with no tears should anyone be interested. The nasty suprise was finding lots of little holes in the floor... Which funnily enough would explain the wet feet after driving it in the rain for a short while. So I pull out the welder and zapped them all up... There was some bigger parts which I had to cut and repair... Quote
stevo_gj Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 Nice work, the black does indeed look a lot better! Quote
nuclear_z Posted December 30, 2008 Author Posted December 30, 2008 Thanks. Black does indeed look a lot nicer. I have spent 6 hours today fixing the shitty wiring in the car... Now I will get back onto doing the dash and sound system... Quote
nuclear_z Posted January 1, 2009 Author Posted January 1, 2009 Well in the process of tidying the birds nest under the dash, I have lost ignition some where along the line. I definately think fixing this part is beyond my skill so I have called in a pro auto-elcetrician... Should find out tomorrow... On the bright side, I might have solved the placement of my front plits problem... Will post pics asap. Quote
nuclear_z Posted January 11, 2009 Author Posted January 11, 2009 Well........ The Christmas break is well and truly over for me, and I am happy with the progress I have made with the car. On the weekend I finished the installation of the sound system, and buttoned up the carpet... I now have 6 inch splits, mounted in the footwells!!! The crossovers are mounted behind the drivers seat and the amp behind the passengers.... THe new dash panel is trim and finished. I'll post pics asap. Quote
nuclear_z Posted January 13, 2009 Author Posted January 13, 2009 I had the car tuned today Makes 150 rwkw, or 202rwhp in the old language! Very torquey as well... Will post the dyno reports Quote
nuclear_z Posted January 22, 2009 Author Posted January 22, 2009 Took the car on a short 600km trip today from Picton to Coffs Harbour and the car performed flawlessly... didnt see any hot temps, oil pressure was great, and the handling was bizzarly good... I still need to raise the bum because it scrubs on big bumps with my fat ass in it... The biggest issue for me is that the speedo doesnt read correctly and therefore I am a bit uncertain of what speedo reading = what actual speed. Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted January 22, 2009 Moderators Posted January 22, 2009 A thing I did to check speedo accuracy is to setup your GPS to show Km/h and go for a drive! Since mine is in Mp/h and Ive played with everything to do with the speedo eg trans, speedo drive and diff ratio, it's shown mine is out by approx 2-3 mph Quote
RBZ 260 Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 nice progress. post some pic of the finished center console and the tunnel trimming. also the speaker area. im insterested to see that. these are things I still need to do on my car plus make new doortrims. Quote
nuclear_z Posted January 23, 2009 Author Posted January 23, 2009 i'll take some asap and get them up here... Quote
Dingo Dave Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 i have done countles trips in my pulsar with no spedo. Not to mention the torana and the valiant and i use the time it takes between the 5km markers on the side of the road. is a little mathematical but works for me and keeps me awake with the use of my brain. Do you live in picton. Quote

Do you live in picton. Its just a matter of getting an accurate reading of what revs = 100km/hr! If you can get that your laughing! Problem is, without knowing what diff and box ratio's I have, its hard to figure it out yourself. And having a friend drive in front, behind or beside you isn't that accurate either... Nevertheless I think I have got it now.... Certainly live in picton, soon to change though if my plans on moving come about... Where are you? Quote
Dingo Dave Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 I live in canberra but my sister use to live there. now she lives in camden now. never shaw a z but maybe i wasnt watching. Quote
nuclear_z Posted January 28, 2009 Author Posted January 28, 2009 only bought mine recently. and I have never seen another one around town either... Quote
nuclear_z Posted February 1, 2009 Author Posted February 1, 2009 i have been remiss in my attention to posting photos, I apologise.... On the other hand, I have been totally ontop of fixing things... i went to Pedders to ask how much they would want to lift the bum of the car 1 inch... $200!!! WTF!!?!?!?!? So I asked, how much for 2 C spanners? $20!!! So i bought the C spanners. I spent Sat afternoon lifting the bum up by 1 inch and what a difference! No more scrubbing and I can throw it into a corner and the suspension works rather than bottoming out and me skipping into the next lane!!! If anyone needs some help lifting a set of coilovers I now have the spanners to do so Quote
nuclear_z Posted March 4, 2009 Author Posted March 4, 2009 Engineer Update: List of things to fix by end of the month hopefully! - Fit retractable passenger seatbelt - Get rid of spacers and PCD converter plates on rear - probably new wheels and rear brakes needed... - Remove BOV - Possibly have the speedo calibrated for new rolling diameter. We'll see how we go, I know I will need some advice on this Quote
garvice Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 Hey mate, Car looks good. What pressure are you running on your turbo setup? I am running a max of 13psi for a RWHP or 185 and a torque of 319ft-lbs at the wheels. Brad Quote
nuclear_z Posted March 9, 2009 Author Posted March 9, 2009 Hey mate, Car looks good. What pressure are you running on your turbo setup? I am running a max of 13psi for a RWHP or 185 and a torque of 319ft-lbs at the wheels. Brad Mate I am only running 8psi to get that figure. Boost holds pretty constant from 3000rpm up to my limiter of 5600rpm. I have just dropped the car off at Drift Garage (Otomoto) to have the dodgy ass cooler piping sorted out. I will also have the pod filter run through the radiator support panel and stuck right out the front, so hopefully no more 60 degree inlet temps! I think the cleaning up of the bends and the steps will give me a few more rwhp, but in reality I am quite satisfied with the power until the engine blows, then I will drop a RB in... Fortunately, and unfortunately, the engine seems in really good nick, so it might be sometime before a RB gets the nod. Quote
nuclear_z Posted March 11, 2009 Author Posted March 11, 2009 Well I just got back from Drift Garage!!!! Lewis is awesome and his skills are awesome! He has redone a heap of intercooler piping in the engine, moved the pod filter out the front of the radiator support panel. Check it out below. DRIFT GARAGE: aweomse. He prices are pretty good. PM me and i'll let you know. I tried talking to Otomoto about wheel and hub options and possibly having them source some parts for me but they didnt seem interested... I have spoken to my engineer and basically come to the conclusion that I am not going to engineer my wheels, but will get a report for the turbo, efi, brakes and suspension So as of next Wednesday I will be totally legal Well, apart from the massive spacers and the wheels Quote
C.A.R. Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 Hehehe Ben won't like that OTOMOTO comment Pipeing looks good though mate Quote
nuclear_z Posted March 11, 2009 Author Posted March 11, 2009 Re check previous post Lurch Otomoto has some really good gear for sale, and Ben was really helpful information wise. I don't think ben wanted to source 2nd hand parts for me which is fine. I spose I have bought a bit from Otomoto in the last day (all the silcone joints) and they look great. Otomoto is a great shop, and Ben was quite informative... Damn alcohol making things come out the wrong way. Quote
nuclear_z Posted March 18, 2009 Author Posted March 18, 2009 Well I have my engineers certificate I only have to go and get a weigh bridge cert, then take it to a blue slip inspector to have my records ammended... Never ends... I thought this was the last little spend i'd be doing in a while, however my alternator isnt charging the battery (which is brand new) and I keep getting flats..... So will need to sort that out Quote
Mr240z Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 Thomas its a Zed, Fix one thing and two other things break... It's just keeping you out of trouble spending all your spare time on the Zed.. Paul Quote
