Hi folks

I'm getting close to the point of ordering a new carpet set for my 240z or getting a trimmer to make something up.

I'd really prefer some original carpets however, wear and all, as opposed to a new set.

Wondering if anyone might have an old set of OEM 2 seater carpets they have pulled from their car which are sitting in storage?

Thought i'd ask before going ahead with a new order.

Cheers, Alex

I'm pretty sure some came with the car I just bought, although I'm unsure of the condition, I'll have a look tomorrow and will get back to you.

Thanks mate I'd appreciate that a lot :)

I was going to take mine down to a local trimmer to see if he could reproduce them, but am still not sure if they are the loop pile carpets (original) let me take some photos and post them here.

Ok early 240z carpets in here.

Now not all the photos I took are original, I believe the foot well for passenger / driver side are the original style of loop pile carpet, you can see the thread was even a pinkish colour (if we want to be absolutely true to original).

I believe the rear deck area (cargo area) carpet is a later made carpet, the vinyl in my car was covered with carpets that some previous owner did later.

I've also got some carpets that were made up as replacements with these photos. You can see the differences.

There is 2 cutouts on the rear of the carpets in the foot well for the carpet to hook into (so it doesn't slide about) on the rear side I saw what looks like vinyl glued on the rear, not sure if this was original or added later?

Did the 240z have rubber backed carpet in the footwell or was this an "option"?

Whilst not a 240z this is what my early 260z has on the passenger side. Shows the slots in the carpet (that Gav mentions) for the metal brackets to secure them to the floor.

In the above photo you can also see the two large metal "press studs" at the front of the carpet used to attach the carpet to the front of the footwell.

My early '74 260Z 2-seat had rubber backed loop pile. It was the grey rubber backing that was the problem, by the time the car was about 20rs old it was perishing/disintegrating leaving rubber crumbs all through the floor area, PITA. Looked much like in AndBir's lower photo only worse.

Ditto above posts, there are press studs at the front, and slots at the back, to hold the carpet in place.

I just got a trimmer to make up new panels using loop pile with bound edges. Total 5 panels - pr in front, pr small pieces behind seats, and a one-piece for the cargo deck. Being an early car that's the limit of the carpet, the rest is vinyl.

The 4 floor panels have a fibrous underlay material glued to the backs for sound deadening. Didn't cost much to have made as they are simple flat panels.

My 73 240z had those press studs. Can you take more photos of them?

So it looks like I only have a bunch of vinyl, not carpet. I can't seem to find how to attach a picture, anyone care to give me some pointers?

Ah ok, thanks for that. Here are the pics

That's the normal strut tower and transmission tunnel vinyl pieces. The carpets are in the foot well and rear hatch luggage area. There is also a piece that runs along the inner sill panel inside and behind the seats.
