I'm curious as to who has been working on there project z the longest.

My one is relatively low at around 4 years and getting very close.

And i don't mean a zed you have had in your back yard not being touched for 10 years genuinely been worked on for that long.

Nzeder must hold a record by now ;). I shouldn't speak too soon though, no doubt mine will take forever. :)

I have had my car for 10 years but only really started properly when I striped it back to a bare shell in Nov 2011, so nearly 5 years now and there is still a few more to come. Probably no record in this sort of company but it has definitely been a long haul.

I am not sure if I could claim this as a build thread. Does the car have to be off the road for that whole time ?

If not then 27 years and counting. But that's only because the previous S30 ( 240Z ) was in an accident and I transferred it's running gear into an another shell (260Z). Club motorsport has a tendency to wear out and break things . So what better reason do you need to upgrade and change things. Unfortunately this process never stops or perhaps we don't want it to stop. Chances are anyone owning a Z or Z's (S30) this long also has a large collection of gearboxes ,diffs, wheels, engines and a very understanding partner. Or you live alone and don't need to explain anything to anyone and that is only something that most of us will dream about.

My daily 280zx has been 15 years of tuning and upgrades if that counts. New cars don't stack as well as an old Datsun in reliability standards, given its the same age as I am.

Coming up on 13 years, but I haven actually done any "work" to it in about 10 years.

So technically I have only been working on it for 3 years.

Still looks like this, but with my parents crap all over it (It's stored at their house).

We're talking project, off the road, in a shed.

Not ownership and ongoing improvements.

Hasn't John clocked up over 17 years on his Z? ???
