6cylpwr Posted September 7, 2016 Posted September 7, 2016 (edited) Hi All, For sale is the engine package that came in my somewhat recently acquired 240z.Some of you may be familiar with the car and/or it's old owner. The engine is not in running condition, I have never seen it run, nor have I investigated the damage myself.Much of this information has been taken from the vehicles sale thread. The engine has been sitting for 10+ years. I bore scoped it upon removal and found no signs of corrosion in the the bores. It has been sitting with the manifolds detached for a few months now, so I will re-inspect when prompted by prospective buyers, and attempt to provide evidence (assuming I can take a good photo of the bore scope screen) All items located Belconnen Region, Canberra, ACT. L28: $350 - SOLDThe BAD: Supposedly has damaged big end and main bearings due to loss of oil pressure, in which case I would assume the crank is also damaged. Apparently also has an L20B oil pump fitted. The GOOD:F54 Block, P90 Head Compression: 7.4:1 suggests factory turbo bottom end. Looks like there was a build up of corrosion material/debris? in the cooling system, but I could not see any damage in the block or water pump. I have included pictures of this (including a picture of the bore scope aimed at the water pump impeller.I also found a small amount of rust in 2 of the cylinders that sat with a valve open in each. This has likely happened due to me removing the manifolds and as such appears recent, so I suspect it has not pitted the bores yet. And what appears to be a very small amount of oil in one of the cylinders. I was also able to turn the engine over by hand just by the balancer (no tools). On the upside to all this, the intake ports appear to have been touched up. I could see no evidence of such work on the exhaust ports.Pics of Hot Stuff can be found here: https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B_pxVjCbOguXOF94MDhJM2o0X1U&usp=sharingPics of the L28 including aforementioned bore scope images can be found here: https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B_pxVjCbOguXZ0J1ZFYxLUV3OFE&usp=sharing Edited May 25, 2017 by 6cylpwr Clarky93 1 Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted September 7, 2016 Administrators Posted September 7, 2016 Are you willing to separate head and block? OR want it gone in 1 package? Quote
6cylpwr Posted September 7, 2016 Author Posted September 7, 2016 (edited) I would prefer it gone in one package, but I will separate them if there is a buyer for the other as well.EDIT: sorry GAV, I re-read your post and realised you did not specify which you were after Edited September 7, 2016 by 6cylpwr Quote

Administrators gav240z Posted September 7, 2016 Administrators Posted September 7, 2016 Ill jump second in line behind Gav for the l28 thanks. If you want the entire short block go for it, I only want the P90 head myself. But have no immediate method of collecting it from the ACT. zed73 1 Quote

6cylpwr Posted October 15, 2016 Author Posted October 15, 2016 Bump.Minimal interest in the EFI setup, suspect this is due to Datsun era owners being afraid of anything more complex than lightbulbs and starter motors.I'm opening up to parting out what remains. Already have a party chasing everything connected to the intake manifold. Are there any interested parties for the ECU with complete ignition setup? Quote
andyk_79 Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 suspect this is due to Datsun era owners being afraid of anything more complex than lightbulbs and starter motors Can I make a friendly suggestion that insulting Datsun owners on a forum used by a community of Datsun owners is not going to increase your chances of a sale ?
