Wtb: Fuel Tank Straps (240Z)

As the title states, looking for a pair of fuel tank straps (because I doubt anyone wants to sell just 1) and possibly the fastener / hardware to go with it?

 

As per my fuel tank removal thread. I had to cut the strap to remove my tank.

I also wouldn't mind getting the bracket that attaches to the spare tyre well. As you can see mine has seen better days!

 

Maybe you have a rotten wheel tub I could cut it off of?

Thanks mate, do you think I could oxy weld mine back together? I simply cut it with tin snips and an oxy weld is a softer more pliable weld so it would still have that elasticity? But not sure if there is a strength issue? I would assume it's ok? But don't want to drag a fuel tank along a highway.. LOL.

Yes you can weld them back together - I personally, wouldn't give it a second thought.

If you can yes please! I will attempt to repair what I have also but can't hurt to have a spare. Still gotta get a rusted nut off it, even if I do manage to repair it.

           I think the 260Z is the same width ,etc but is longer. You might be able to cut the bolt end off ,shorten the strap itself to the desired length then                  weld the bolt back on. Just a thought !.

I will have a crack at mig welding the 1 I cut off the car. As Lurcho's said, not sure why I gave it a second thought? But maybe it's rubber duck debugging at work?

So I gave repairing the strap a go, first of all it's pretty thin metal and where I cut it wasn't the best place (right next to the bracket) so welding it was a bit tricky. The first weld looked good but then I started to bend and flex the strap and it cracked the weld, which was mostly sitting on top of the metal. So I cranked the welder up to higher heat, which did blow a couple of holes but it's a lot stronger now, I managed to flex it without cracking anywhere so the weld was a lot stronger. But it does look a little bit messy, not a huge deal because once painted and under the car it won't make a difference.

 

However if I can still get a spare in better shape I'll grab it.
