Internet Scam_Amazon Payments

Hi All,

 

I recently received an email alert for a 240z for sale, the car is advertised for $16,000.00 and as you can see is worth much more than the asking price.

 

After contacting the seller by email (no phone number available) i have received many images and emails regarding the purchase of the the vehicle. 

 

As it seems to good to be true, I have researched the payment method and Amazon payments is a scam.

 

The email below is the most recent I have received this morning:-

 

"Hello again ,

As I mentioned in my previous e-mail at this moment I am in RAAF Base , 

NT military base, getting ready for Afghanistan, and I have the car with 

me.I'm in a special training program before my deployment and I am not 

allowed to get out of the unit or have visitors.I can ship the car to 

you  without problems using army transport and logistic system. You will 

receive the car along with all the documents. As for the payment I can 

start a transaction through Amazon Payment.All I need is your full name 

and  address so I can contact them and after that they will contact you 

to explain the entire procedure without any obligation to buy it or 

fees.They act as a third party and will protect both of us in this 

transaction.You'll make the payment in an Amazon managed trust 

fund!After that, I send it over ( the car will be delivered with the 

title, owner's manual, service records, and of course the bill of sale 

authorized and signed by me).You will have 7 days inspection period on 

it from the day you'll receive the car, you can inspect it, take it to a 

mechanic to check it out, ride it and then if you decided to keep it, 

you'll confirm to Amazon the sale. If by any reason, you will not be 

satisfied with the car ( even though I can assure you that it is exactly 

as described, in excellent condition), you can return it at my expense 

for a full refund of your money, no hidden or extra cost for you.So, 

this is not a blind transaction, you can see it before committing to buy 

and to eliminate any concerns you will have 7 days to inspect it and I 

think this is more than fair for both of us.I tried to explain as best I 

can but if you have further questions do not hesitate to contact me. I 

will wait your details (full name and shipping address) if we have a deal."

Another screenshot is from a blog about the scam where Steve Rodriguez had a 1964 Dodge Phoenix for sale.

 

Rarely do I post anything but I thought you all should know about this scam as I was almost ready to accept the offer.

Hmm, he told me he was going to the UK for deployment... how can he be two places at once.

 

FYI probably using multiple email addresses, but the email he used was sean4clifton@gmail.com under the name Steve Rodriguez too.

I told him i lived up at Katherine in the NT, after stringing him along for a month or so.

And that i'll pop up to Tindal RAAF base, to see it, its a three hour drive.

Bastard never got back to me!

By the way that car was sold to a friend of mine about 5 months ago .it sold for close to 40k .and since has been in a crash and is being fixed as we type

I still have the car Ford Excursion for sale and I am ready to let it go. The car is in perfect condition, no mechanical problems, no leaks, no rust, everything is in very good order. Rego is clean and clear, no accidents. I have to sell this car as fast as I can because in two weeks I will be deployed in United Kingdom and I'll stay there for awhile,  that's why I'm selling it so cheap. Currently I'm in a military base and the car is here with me.I will appreciate if you let me know your decision as soon as possible, I must sell the car in the next two weeks, before my deployment.

I'm responsible for shipping, delivery and handling to your location in any city of Australia.Of course you can choose not to buy the car if you do not like it. SCAMMER AT IT AGAIN 

 

I received this email this morning, after inquiring about the vehicle and trying to phone his phony number where he listed the white Jeep on Quicksales.com. I could not reach quicksales admin, so found  they operate carsales.com.au where I   have phoned them and directed them to the item number for the Jeep ad.  The account has been suspended whilst they investigate the intent to commit fraud. I have directed them to this link for viczcar of this thread so they can gain other names he is using, emails etc. No doubt he is doing the rounds, pretty low, some unsuspecting person may trust someone from the military, rotter! If something seems to good to be true, it usually is- please spread the word on forums as I am not usually a part of car forums, but had to write this post to warn others.

So I tried calling, number not valid. Noticed the seller mentioned 10mins from Melbourne CBD, but located near Geelong (not 10mins), then please have a look at my email thread below after I sent my enquiry through the website:

There was also one with a Nissan patrol who wanted a holding deposit, never give deposits as that's the last you will see of it.

I just had some dealings with one of these scammers today...I was looking at a boat on an english website and when I made an online query I was replied to by this person, their response is below and it's almost word for word the same as Odinz...

 

A quick google led me here, you would think they would use different email addresses

What amazes me is that these scammers persist, does that mean that some poor folk are get suckered ?
