Moderators PB260Z Posted August 20, 2015 Moderators Posted August 20, 2015 Hi, So have done all the suspension and the ride height and stance are good, but we have heaps of negative camber. Turns out the car has offset top strut mounts (see image) thus I am now looking for a standard set of upper strut mounts. Has anyone got a set of these sitting around looking for a new owner ? Thanks in advance PB Quote
Roberto Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 Do you know if they are adjustable strut tops like MSA sells or fixed units? Quote
Moderators PB260Z Posted August 20, 2015 Author Moderators Posted August 20, 2015 Hi Mate Not adjustable, the mounting hole is offset (about 10mm) to increase neg camber. Happy to swap if anybody can use them. Cheers PB Quote
Roberto Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 I have the MSA adjustable ones on my front. They are great as long as they are kept neutral. If you adjust for greater camber then the polyurethane bulges out the side (yes I didn't over torque them). I would consider swapping or buying these off you outright. I no longer have the original strut tops. Quote
YosemiteZed Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 As you replaced the 77 2+2 rear strut bushes (which are higher ) and put the 260z 2seater rear strut bushes in the rear 2 seater front and rear strut bushes are the same the 2 seater and 2+2 strut bushes front are the same why not swap the front that have the offset to the rear and the rear to the front as you only originally changed them over to get the 2+2 your road height to where you want it, and the neg camber at the back is not that critical and might suit Cheers Phil Quote

I will be happy to work out something with you on the ones I currently have. Cheers PB Quote

Your suggestion while not ideal would certainly get me out of trouble at the front. Thanks for the tip. Cheers PB Quote
YosemiteZed Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 My understanding was that the front and rear strut bushes of the 260z (2 seater 74-77) are the same the early 2+2 74 front and rear was also the same as the 2 seater late 74 -77 nissan changed the 2+2 rear strut bushes to a higher rubber but the front struts bushes remained unchanged and remained the same as the 2 seater Cheers Quote
GongZ Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 Hi PB, I noticed at the Harry's Cafe meeting that Mick's (Cozza's) 240Z had offset front strut mountings. I asked him about them and I am pretty sure he said that they were negative 1 degree and from Stewart Wilkins Motorsport. I have just had a look at the SWM website and they show these; Strut Top Mounts for 240Z & 260Z - Billet Aluminium - Price: $1,540.00 (front + rear) http://www.swmotorsport.com.au/product_info.php?products_id=129 If this is what you have on your car - you may be in luck because they have 3 camber positions - STANDARD, negative 0.5 degree and negative 1.0 degree. So you might just need to undo them and set them to the standard setting. Quote
Moderators PB260Z Posted August 20, 2015 Author Moderators Posted August 20, 2015 Thanks Ian My car has what look like standard steel/rubber mounts but the hole for the shock tube about 10mm inbound. If they were adjustable I would be very happy. Cheers PB Quote
HKSZ Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 240z and 260z '74 had short tops all round, the later 260z seaters and 2+2 have short front tall rears. All interchangeable. Quote
PeterAllen Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 Peter, I've got these off my 240Z if they are of any use? Quote
Riceburner Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 I have a 77 2+2 parts car, I'd be interested in doing a swap if you can't find a solution with anything else. I just have to find the standard tops. Quote

Thanks in advance PB Hi Pete. You mention you have "heaps" of negative camber. As Ian commented I have these in the front of my 240 (non adjustable though) and I still have less than 1' negative. Obviously if your strut length is shorter than mine, this offset bush will offer more overall negative however, I am thinking your "heaps" of negative camber may be due to something else. Is it possible you have lengthened lower control arms or something? Just a thought. Mick Quote

Hi Peter The smaller ones are what I have been chasing, but I am pretty sure I have it sorted. If the current plan doesn't work out I will let you know. Cheers PB Quote

Your parts car wouldn't have RHF Indicator / Parker assembly by chance, desperately need one for rego. Cheers PB Quote
Riceburner Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 No worries was worth a try. Sorry the indicator/parkers were thrown out many moons ago. Quote
