Graedat Posted July 8, 2015 Author Posted July 8, 2015 The Old man came down to visit for a few days so I got him to make up a Transmission cross member for me. It allows the trans to sit perfect. He is capable of far more complex and detailed workmanship so this was a walk in the park for him. Quote
PeterAllen Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Great work - keep the photos and info flowing. Quote
Moderators PB260Z Posted July 9, 2015 Moderators Posted July 9, 2015 Gidday Lots good work being done. I am really enjoying watching your progress Cheers PB Quote
260DET Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Such a tidy fit that engine, with the auto the car should be lots of fun everywhere. Anything going to be done to the auto? I was going to comment positively on that cradle as working as a chassis brace too but then you go and cut a big chunk out of it Quote
Graedat Posted July 9, 2015 Author Posted July 9, 2015 Haha, yeah the cradle was a bit too close to the sump and when i cut a bit off it I got carried away. I will probably brace the bottom section with angle iron to strengthen it. The auto has had a full reco, I will run it for a while without any mods and then do some upgrades to engine and trans later. Quote
Graedat Posted July 10, 2015 Author Posted July 10, 2015 Engine in and sitting pretty level. Its close enough. Quote
Sirpent Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 Been following this thread for some weeks now, VERY Impressive and well done ;-) Quote
Graedat Posted July 10, 2015 Author Posted July 10, 2015 Thanks Sirpent, I am slowly getting there I have a long way to go though. Quote
PeterAllen Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 I'll be interested to see you feed the 4 long-tube extractors pass the starter! Quote
Scoota G Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 I'll be interested to see you feed the 4 long-tube extractors pass the starter! Run em out the front for twin turbo setup of course. Saaaah tetetetetete. Quote
Sirpent Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 Run em out the front for twin turbo setup of course. Saaaah tetetetetete. You are a learned man Scoota, we did the same thing on a Triumph Stag 350 Chev conversion in the 1980's but alas the power steering rack wasnt the happiest about it LMAO Quote
Graedat Posted July 11, 2015 Author Posted July 11, 2015 Time for some front suspension sandblasting and painting. The sandblaster is worth its weight in gold! Now if anyone would like to do some sandblasting of their parts, members are welcome to come on down to Cannons Creek and use my gear. This unit has literally saved me hours of work. Quote
Graedat Posted July 11, 2015 Author Posted July 11, 2015 All prepped for another layer of body deadener. I gave underneath another thick coat too. Quote
Graedat Posted July 11, 2015 Author Posted July 11, 2015 Richard I am just starting to tape that area off so I can start prep work on the engine bay. Quote
Riceburner Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 What sort of under body stuff did you use Graeme? Quote
Scoota G Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 What sort of under body stuff did you use Graeme? Looks like that Rhino Liner gear hey! Quote
Graedat Posted July 11, 2015 Author Posted July 11, 2015 I cant remember off hand but it comes in small canisters and I just screwed my splatter gun on to it and away I went. I put about 3 canisters on those parts. RT2000 rings a bell. Got it from the body shop. I want to put a heap of sound deadening inside too, nice and quiet this time (apart from the V8 rumble). CBR Jeff Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 That 351 fits in there very nicely. It does show how long the engine bay is in the 240/60. Jeff Quote
