peter t Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 I have sent several e-mails to these people with no reply. Do they still operate or I am only ordering small amounts that they couldn't give a stuff about? Quote
Retro Z Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 Yeah i am waiting for a postage quote aswell for a $1000+ order and its been a week and no reply. Quote
shaun240 Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 I have a bunch of stuff on the way.. It took them weeks to finalise quotes etc but I found that if you're dealing with James and he isn't responsive, just CC in info@motorsportauto.com and he usually replied within a day or so Quote
dat2kman Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 Ask them to break it up into two orders to keep each value down, otherwise Aus Customs will nail you! Or, adk them to put a deflated total value on the one order/box, ie $800 Quote

PeterH Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 I deal with MSA...they are still very much in operation...I had dealt with a saleman ...Aaron Sarkin.... until he left the company recently......I suspect that they mey be a bit short staffed in the sales area..I needed ( wanted ) some parts recently and as I was away from home ....I rang them and spoke to James..... a paypal invoice was emailed the next day and the parts were here in a week....via USPS with tracking...that order was only about $ 100...the phone call only cost a few dollars......I've found that better than emials at the moment..... I hope your orders work out well...... I've found them excellent to deal with over the last two years Pete Quote
shaun240 Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 Peter, if you have no luck calling try sending an email to James Ouk - james@motorsportauto.com Quote
peter t Posted August 17, 2014 Author Posted August 17, 2014 Thanks Shaun will give it a go 8)now. Quote
dat240z Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 Good thread, same issues however i cant even get onto them by phone either!! Ill try the alternate email Quote
C.A.R. Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 MSA won't deal with an email out of the blue asking for a postage quote. To get a response from them, place the order of parts you want, they will then email you with the postage quote & weather you want to proceed or not. A back up phone call never hurts. Also be aware about Aus customs & GST: Orders over $AUS1000 (including shipping costs) WILL be stopped at Customs & you'll have to pay customs duty & GST. Keep it ALL under $1000.00 Aus & you'll be fine Note: that the Wholesale exchange rate is different to the market exchange rate that Paypal & Banks use - it's normally about 3 cents less then wholesale, so this will have an effect on your item(s) & shipping costs. This is spot on. Except the shipping is not included in duty and tax. Duty and tax are only calculated by the value of the freight only. Some suppliers stupidly add the cost of shipping on their invoice as part of the item your purchasing (instead of adding another line for freight on the invoice... LAZY!). I work in this industry and see this every now and then. If this happens, using evidence you can fight this will customs. Quote
peter t Posted August 26, 2014 Author Posted August 26, 2014 Thanks everyone for their input. Lurch you are a life saver. Some one should make a Sticky on this subject for people trying to deal with overseas suppliers when they are inexperienced in this matter like myself. Forget the above, Just found the STICKY up top. dat240z Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Pete, Im assuming you had success?? Im still a little in the dark - I placed an order last thursday, generated a ref #. Awaitng postage quotes. Is it normal to take this long? No moneys been deducted yet, not postage $$ quotes.... Quote
Retro Z Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 I have exactly the same problem. I have since given up and purchased from whitehead performance who were great to deal with. Quote
dat240z Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Yeah I would, but MSA are the only ones with the Carbon Fibre BRE stuff.......... Quote
phillay Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 hi all just thought I would share my experiences with MSA as I placed an order with them over a week ago. I just checked out the cart on their website, then when you select the country of your address it will then place the order on hold as someone in their sales area needs to provide a quote based on the location etc. I got an email pretty much the next day from jeff and he asked me which class of mail did I wanted to use, one was faster than the other (more cost ofcouse). took about 3 days to process as in, from my payment (instant paypal) to me getting a tracking number which was only a e-notification to say that the order is ready to be picked up by USPS's people. I just got an update to say my package was at the auspost sorting facilities so will be here soon. It was pretty easy, but compared to z car depo their comms response and also delivery is much slow, but MSA has every party under the sun compared to z car depo. hope that helps you guys. Quote
dat240z Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Yeah I finally got onto them - a week later. BRE.com replied that night and was cheaper instead! Quote
peter t Posted August 28, 2014 Author Posted August 28, 2014 Did everything right and all is honky dory. Parts ordered and awaiting frt quote. ;) Quote
theremm Posted October 19, 2014 Posted October 19, 2014 I placed a few orders with them recently and best way to go is phone call..spent a week to two waiting for email reply and still no response... Call them directly and orders will processed same day and even shipped if you call early enough. FYI best to create an account on website with your details prior to calling. Also recommend paying a little extra for priority shipping (there are two types of this by the way..) as opposed to standard which takes 2-3weeks. I opted for fastest shipping recently and had full set of shocks to brissy in 3 business days! TIP: download the gmail 'GV Phone' app which allows free calls to the US/Canada to save you some money...follow prompts to earn free calling credits rather than purchasing. Quote
