andyk_79 Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 Just wondering if anyone has used the carpet kits from datsunparts.com. One of the few I've seen that has RHD kits advertised. Quote
andyk_79 Posted June 11, 2014 Author Posted June 11, 2014 datsunparts is a bit of a convoluted ordering process for overseas orders (no online ordering) so I went with these guys: http://www.all-car-carpets.com.au/ Will post what the quality is like but I always prefer to go with Australian suppliers where possible Quote
44014 Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 I don't understand why no one makes a moulded carpet for the z's Quote
andyk_79 Posted June 11, 2014 Author Posted June 11, 2014 I think http://www.ausclassics.com.au/ does a moulded kit, but in another thread a guy was saying he was waiting for something like 4 months for his carpet from them so I steered clear! Quote
dat2kman Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 Dean Apostle's site ( datsunparts) is a bit difficult to work out. Basically you end up emailing what you want, he then has to work out a freight price, and lets you know total. As usual anything from the USA will be expensive to be sent to Australia. I and many others have sourced some hard to get bits, for older Datsun's through him. No dramas. Quote
phillay Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 i ordered carpets from all car carpets, took i think about 3 weeks pretty good, i've installed them in my car, they don't have the bits that cover the rear strut towers, not sure if other kits have them. the fitment is good but you will be required to do some cutting to get around the seat mounts, my kit was for the 240z Quote

I called tru fit and they don't make the boot floor, called aus classics and they don't make the tunnel piece. Would be handy to get it all at one place. Do you mind if I ask the price? Thanks Quote
andyk_79 Posted June 25, 2014 Author Posted June 25, 2014 Mine hasn't arrived yet but their pictures on the web seem to show the tunnel being covered but not the boot. Price is as listed on web (plus shipping (which from memory was about $60 to Sydney). A few options you can change so best to go look at prices yourself: http://www.all-car-carpets.com.au/page/shop/flypage/product_id/1030000/a/category/e/DATSUN_DATSUN_240Z/keyword//offset/0 Quote
phillay Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 yes there is a piece that goes over the tunnel and the boot floor, it covers the tool box and the spare wheel well, it doesn't have the vertical bit that's behind the seats Quote
andyk_79 Posted July 4, 2014 Author Posted July 4, 2014 Arrived yesterday - seems like a nice set up. See how hard it is to fit once I've got the car back. Quote
Luni260z Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 I think http://www.ausclassics.com.au/ does a moulded kit, but in another thread a guy was saying he was waiting for something like 4 months for his carpet from them so I steered clear! That was me. I"m up to 9 months I've been waiting now. And no, they aren't moulded. I did get the soundproofing last month. Apparently the carpet still coming though, but his dog died, his fiance was sick, the business making them has troubles, but he assures me every week he's onto it. How long did yours take? And do you have a pic of them installed ?? Quote
andyk_79 Posted October 8, 2014 Author Posted October 8, 2014 Mine aren't moulded either - comes in about 8 pieces. Took about 3 weeks to get the carpet. Haven't installed it yet as car is still having the mechanicals etc sorted. Will definitely post pics when done though ! Quote
Classicman Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 Hi Guys I need to order a set of carpets for my 240Z. Ive been trolling through previous posts on the site about carpets and the issues with suppliers. It seems that all-car-carpets are the best option at present. I also seem to recall someone mentioning a supplier in Sydney, but can't find a name. Please can I have some feedback from people who have bought carpet sets recently. Thanks. Quote
ausclassics Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 OK All we finally have a solution on some of this carpet issue..... With all the troubles we have had with this and suppliers as discussed we decided to completely re-template the kits and do them ourselves. At this point we have only done the 240 2 seaters as we have not had a set of 2+2 carpets to template from or a car to use. (Discount will be given to anyone who can help with this) The 260 2 seater I will absolutely have to be sent your sill pieces to copy as there are 4 different ones which has previously caused problems. The boot carpet will come with the bound split for the tool access unless you specify it without (like the pictured one) Lindsay from the Z-Shop has also assisted with this and what we are now making is better design and quality than what has previously been available. The floor mats are heavy backed so they won't bunch or slip and the kit is available in your choice of colour. The kit includes all the original carpet in the car, 4 floor mats, sills and boot. (Originally tunnel is done in vinyl) This is $390 including postage. If you want to do your transmission Tunnel as well you will need an extra 2m for an additional cost of $60 We can do the kit in original loop or what I believe is nice plush pile Delivery is 2-3 weeks from payment depending on Australia Post. I will provide you with a tracking Number. Regards Stuart P.S. Vinyl can be purchased off the roll directly from Vyfab in Moorabbin for $15/m which is 1.5m wide Quote
Iceberg Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 Finally! Interested for the 260z 2 seater Quote
SPT260 Posted July 16, 2021 Posted July 16, 2021 Reverting to type, I'm an interior designer, I want to elevate the quality level off my Z. I'm about to make a prototype, Wilton, woven plush pile, heavy weight, 80%wool, 20% nylon carpet kit with leather bound edges for my '74 260Z. Starting with a black version, to keep the an original appearance. I'm using the factory carpet to make templates. I'll do a tunnel section as well. I 'I will also consider making these for resale if there's enough interest. For those wanting a high quality interior, in the vein of MZR Roadsports, I am considering producing bespoke interior combinations too. Next on my agenda will be interior trim kits to replace all of the vinyl with alternative upholstery materials, such as Alcantara. This could also run to coverings for the hard plastic panels too. I've seen the Carbon Signal Alcantara dash & console unit upholstery, and it's quite impressive when done well too. I'll update with my carpet kit results. 240ZBUILTBYME 1 Quote

I’m looking at doing something similar with mine when the time comes. Alternative quality products to replace the vinyl. If you had good quality stuff for a fair price I’d consider buying as opposed to making myself. I like the carbon signal covered dash, better than flocking. But I don’t know why you would want to cover up the dash, it’s beautiful once professionally reskinned! Just My opinion... Quote
SPT260 Posted July 16, 2021 Posted July 16, 2021 Agree, MZR Roadsports do use a reskinned dash too, which looks absolutely fine. For sure. I'm researching materials all the time. The seats come up well in the, already available, Vinyl & Leather kits, so I probably wont make my own, but door and other upholstery pieces, and hard plastic coverings on my agenda. I'm going to chat with the Dash Doctor about alternative Vinyl which could be used, particularly the textures. Quote
DatZed Posted July 28, 2021 Posted July 28, 2021 Also interested in a high quality carpet and interior trim kit. I've always wanted to use a quilted leather product for the seat infills, door cards and rear hatch area. Quote
SPT260 Posted July 29, 2021 Posted July 29, 2021 I've been sampling Axminster & Wilton Carpets. IMG_6147 is so far my preferred as it is a dense low pile height 100% wool woven carpet. Quote
