Administrators gav240z Posted April 3, 2014 Administrators Posted April 3, 2014 I'll start with this VW Bus. What do you think? Quote
DreamZproject Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 One day Z's will get there, better stock up now boys. Quote
d3c0y Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Those multi-window Combis are suuupperr rare and sought after apparently and have gone for big money for a while. Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted April 4, 2014 Author Administrators Posted April 4, 2014 Makes this look like a bargain don't you think? http://www.shannons.com.au/auctions/lot/X9G4I7P3BR9CF4E9/ Quote
zzzzed Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 I have restored 3 or 4 combies for customers now. The first one sold $65.000 the one I am doing now the customer has already spent $45.000 on it and we have only just started the body work. Quote
Moderators PB260Z Posted April 4, 2014 Moderators Posted April 4, 2014 From what I'm told, with Kombi's the greater the number of windows, the greater the value Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted April 4, 2014 Author Administrators Posted April 4, 2014 So it would seem, I hadn't intended this thread to be specifically about Kombi's rather about the value of classic cars that have gone through the roof. I see this in Marrickville and love it as a rat rod / patina style vehicle, but I now wonder what it's worth? This Boss 429 Mustang didn't get nearly what they had hoped for it, but honestly that kind of coin is huge for that era Mustang. http://youtu.be/3QVfj7uNHqo?t=6m56s Same guys restored an F40 Ferrari. But they painted it Black instead of red and removed the original seats. I think they should have kept it original and red myself, would have returned more value perhaps closer to 1M? Quote
Six_Shooter Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 That F40 was built by Gas Monkey Garage in Texas, and I don't mean it was painted a the seats changed, I mean it was built, or rather completely rebuilt by Gas Monkey and another garage. When it showed up at Gas Monkey, it had no wheels, because there was nothing to attach them to, there was no nose, because it was destroyed and the frame was bent badly. I like the fact that they didn't just simply restore the F40, but they decided to actually personalize it. Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted April 4, 2014 Author Administrators Posted April 4, 2014 Yeah I saw half the episode before it was yanked from Youtube for copyright violation, it was not in a good way when it arrived. I think it looks good in Black don't get me wrong, but I figured to get maximum value from it at auction you would want it original to appeal to that kind of collector. Then again it was a total car that was saved and that is part of it's history and may in fact add to its value later on, who knows right? Time will tell. Quote
PeterAllen Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Gas Monkey's Ferrari. That's an oxymoron. Yes, I saw the episode and I cried all they way through it. Quote
Moderators PB260Z Posted April 4, 2014 Moderators Posted April 4, 2014 Whilst not a classic in the true sense, the values of Mini Mokes has climbed over recent years. It doesn't seem all that long ago that these were cheap transport. http://www.shannons.com.au/auctions/lot/ZFAZCA2FH7DQZ1FL/ Quote
