Agno Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 Hi guys, I know this a long shot but last night my brothers car was stolen out of our driveway in north balwyn. It's a white R31 Skyline import, 4 doors, very low on a set of wide 16s. I'll throw up a photo when I find one but if all my Victorian friends could keep an eye open that would be greatly appreciated Alex Quote

Retro Z Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 Could be wrong but last night after coming out of cinema at 9pm i saw a skyline like that driving erratically down Ballarat rd near Highpoint shopping centre(Maribrynong) and remembered thinking its a r31 turbo with some dumb drifter behind the wheel, but can't remember if it was white or silver or sedan or 2 door let alone the number plate... but it did have very similar wheels. I can't help much more with what i saw but i will definitely keep an eye out down my side of town as unfortunately i do live a crime-laden suburb. Quote
DOOM Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 Would be spewing, thats the IRS ones too, I'll keep my eye out in SA. Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted June 30, 2013 Moderators Posted June 30, 2013 That won't be hard to miss...I'll keep a good eye out for that.. I assume you have posted this on other forums? I'd be plastering it all over the net..and offer a reward; helps with motivation. Quote
Agno Posted June 30, 2013 Author Posted June 30, 2013 Yeah it's been posted all over the net Dimitri. Also Tai the car was stolen between 3 and 9 this morning so it definitely wasn't our car. Oscar (my brother) is pretty cut up about it because it carries a huge amount of sentimental value. We saved it from the wreckers and built the car from the ground up ourselves. Whoever stole the car has a taste for modified R31s, this is the 4th car with these sorts of mods which has been stolen that I know of in the last 12 months. The other 3 cars were recovered as bare shells in the Northern Suburbs Quote
MATTY Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 man i hate the low life %^&s that feel the need to steal someones pride and joy. ( excuse the language) im down melbourne way my self tuesday ill keep my eyes peeled mate. hope you guys get it back in one peice. please keep it clean Matty... Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted June 30, 2013 Administrators Posted June 30, 2013 Oh man I can only say I know how it feels and it still pisses me off when I think about what they did to mine. That's a unique r31 and not something easily replaced. I hope he gets it back and can save it again. Did it have any security fitted? Quote
dat240z Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 Its f$%ed that we have to share our country with low lifes like this.... I know its late now, but if you have a rare ride, get a GPS tracker. They are reasonably cheap and can be pin point located provided they have a current SIM with signal... Wouldnt it be great to assemble a "revenge squad" and pay a visit to the low lifes door...... Agno Posted July 1, 2013 Author Posted July 1, 2013 My brother just called to tell me they found the car abandoned in Epping. He's waiting to hear from the police as to when he can inspect it but they have told him it has been stripped. Quote

CooperJS Posted July 2, 2013 Posted July 2, 2013 what ass holes, hope they get caught for doing this! Quote
dat2kman Posted July 2, 2013 Posted July 2, 2013 Do let us know of the items removed, ie diff, box, engine, rims, tryes brakes etc etc details, any pssible identifiers. You never know, Sometimes we do get newbie sign-ups, just to pass on dodgy stuff. Has happened on here, for sure to happen again. Saw this on ther forums, hit them up with same info. Never know, they might surface, and ,,,, well,,,, Quote
Agno Posted July 2, 2013 Author Posted July 2, 2013 Good suggestion Jason, I put it to my brother and he's thinking about it. If anything comes to pass I'll put something up Quote
Gordo Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 Did you get the car back, and what was left on it? jUST heard another R31 was stolen last night from eastern subs. R31GTS2. Quote
Gordo Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 Go out now and secure your car, make it hard for them! Quote
dat240z Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 Ive employed a few anti theft devices. <edited and removed> Maybe overkill but better to be safe than sorry. Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted July 3, 2013 Moderators Posted July 3, 2013 Probably best not to tell the world about your devices... anyway, don't think anyone is stupid enough to steal a zed.... Quote
dat240z Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 Probably best not to tell the world about your devices... anyway, don't think anyone is stupid enough to steal a zed.... I wouldnt say Im telling the world. You dont know my car, where I live, my name or where these devices are hidden so I really cant see any issue in reccommending tips for others that may help........... Quote
RB30X Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 You'd be surprised what info about yourself you're leaving on the net these days. Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted July 3, 2013 Administrators Posted July 3, 2013 dat240z - I've removed the list of things you've done to protect your car as you just NEVER know mate. It's best to make it as hard as possible. So why R31s? Are parts getting dear for them? Is it that they are easy to steal and easy to flog? I would be checking eBay also. Never know they might just be dumb enough. Also check Gumtree regularly. . Unfortunately if they are sending them off to someone in the middle-east or some exotic other destination in a container it might be harder to find and catch these jerks. Quote

You dont know my car, where I live, my name or where these devices are hidden so I really cant see any issue in reccommending tips for others that may help........... On this forum, you are announcing it to the world... to trace anyone on the net, if they post pics of areas they are in, you could easily get a location then use Google earth to start a search. If someone wants it bad enough, you'd be surprised what lengths they will go to. Everyone has friends who have friends that have friends...you know what I mean. Quote
Agno Posted July 4, 2013 Author Posted July 4, 2013 Did you get the car back, and what was left on it? jUST heard another R31 was stolen last night from eastern subs. R31GTS2. The car has been recovered and I'm not entirely sure what my brother is going to do at the moment. We are waiting for the insurance company to value the car and either write it off or offer a compensatory amount to repair it. As for the GTS2 which was stolen yesterday, knowing who owns the car makes this whole situation very interesting. So why R31s? Are parts getting dear for them? Is it that they are easy to steal and easy to flog? I would be checking eBay also. Never know they might just be dumb enough. Also check Gumtree regularly. . R31 skylines in very good condition are becoming harder to find because they are going a similar way as many old Datsuns went, they have been cheap so they were abused and now the numbers are fading fast. The cars which were stolen were all in excellent condition and whoever is stealing them knows their way around an R31 very well as only very specific parts have been stolen, which begs the question as to who/why are taking these cars because as soon as the parts are found on their car/someone else's car it will be pretty obvious who took them.
