Surely you could find a trashed old L28 and just clean it up, likewise with the carbs. Just find a pair beyond economic repair and spend (many) hours polishing it up. Voila table.

 

A lot of fellas make rotary clocks or similar, since when a rotor throws a tip the housing and rotor is often trashed as a result.

This is what one of the Auckland member of the Datsun Z Club here in NZ did with a L28 from parts donated by other club members.

 

Since this vid. there has been a radiator fitted, and a bit more cut from the block, and other areas.

I have my matching numbers L24 sitting in the garage and i was think this today. But i'm flat out working on the car, let a lone detailing an engine for a coffee table  :-\

I ave a few different motors I could turn in to tables. But if I tried to bring them inside, I think the Missus would shoot me.
