G Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 I'd like to buy a P90 head - if anyone has one for sale, I'll be at the Nats if that makes things simpler! Cheers Quote
luvemfast Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 Consiedring you were after triples not long ago. What are your plans with the P90? Expect to pay over $600 for the head alone. Then porting, add $2000 I can only assume you're staying NA. You'll need cutsom domed pistons with a P90. So add another $1200 If your using custom pistons, you may as well upgrade con rods. Add $1000. See where I'm going? Quote
G Posted March 27, 2013 Author Posted March 27, 2013 Are you saying just use an N42 and work that? I'm trying to gather the bits over time, 'tis all. I'm getting there, but since I don't know the right 'people' to talk to in order to source bits it's taking a while.. ...and yes, NA. Quote
luvemfast Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 but since I don't know the right 'people' to talk to in order to source bits it's taking a while.. Speak to Peter Mac! He'll be there this weekend. I've gone against his advise a couple of times now..... and had to change to what he originally recommended! That is all....... Quote
G Posted March 27, 2013 Author Posted March 27, 2013 It was Peter who recommended the P90 to me. Quote
luvemfast Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 It was Peter who recommended the P90 to me. Well. Then prepare to spend! lol Quote
mossy Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 Peter built my engine, I used a F54 block and a N42 head. Quote
peter mc Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 Hi G mate in a few weeks we are starting on a N42 that will have a very modified chamber that will look like a P90 but flow more air , and work even better at burning the fuel , so hold off on the P90 , come have a chat over the weekend , pmc Quote
luvemfast Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 N42's are more common. So cheaper to buy. Then have more money in your pocket to get Peter to make it into a SUPER AWESOME MONSTER HEAD! Quote
C.A.R. Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 I've seen the (cleaned up) N42 head that Les & Pete will be using - It's for that reason I've sold off all my P90's... It's going to be interesting Quote
G Posted March 27, 2013 Author Posted March 27, 2013 Thanks for selling me your N42 then Lurch! Quote
d3c0y Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 Awesome, so i get a done P90 and they arent cool any more... anyone want to by my P90? Quote
peter mc Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 There cool just to hard to find for most , ,,,, and ill have that p90 any day you want to sell the only reason we are doing the N42 is there easy to come by , they take more work to make right, there is 500 bucks in welding just to start , then the fun starts Quote
Agno Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 might be $500 in welding but that isn't that bad once you think about how much it costs to source a P90 and how much an N42 is worth Quote

But $500 in welding still needs to be spent on the P90 to take the current coolant mods that Les & Pete do to their current race heads. If (a minimum) 230cfm @ 28" H2O can be achieved (for a 2.9ltr) with an N42 casting, sourcing a P90 will be pointless. Gordo's L28 still made 310fwhp with an N42... Quote
dat2kman Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 On my bench, i have both a P90 and a O5L The inlet/exhaust runners are same shape, short side radis hump the same. Comb chamber in O5L is much smaller, as is valves. Both are virgin untouched. The O5L has huge scope for D shaping ports, fitting bigger offsett valves, making more comp. One of the lads up here has just had a 90 finished, the intake runners have all been lifted to such an extent, the intake manifold bolts have had to be raised approx 15 mm. It is almost a straight shot down onto backs of valves In looking at a 38cc larger valved and ported n42, the O5L is the next best thing, followed by P90 Both are for sale, O5L $300, P90 $600 Price is up there, as i would rather not lose the 90. The 42 is a spare head for the L28 race motor, and 90 is a "just in case" spare for the race engine ( f54/p90)thats in the car now. Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted March 28, 2013 Administrators Posted March 28, 2013 I had a P90 then I took an arrow to the knee... In all seriousness though I did have 1 but a certain mechanic ran off with my money which was going to be put into engine head work and when I called the guys about it they said he never gave them the money. I'm going to call the workshop and see if they by some miracle still have it, maybe offer them some money for storage fees and pay them some cash to courier it to my folks place. These seems to be getting harder to find. Quote

dat2kman Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 How much power is it making? Wots this "size 78% stuff? Its not making 78% more piwer! I have here on my stoopid computer an email from him showing the intake runnere, the new intake manifold bolt pisitions, and the flow bench tesults. But can i find this email, No, can i find anything, no! Bugga Quote

d3c0y Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 Is that the estimated HP the head will flow or does the engine actually do that? What lift is it doing that at? Quote
