  1. So as a business owner you are supposed to give away your time, intellectual property and any profit margin on parts that you have bought/ payed tax on import duty and so on just to appease a tight arse “car enthusiast “. Sounds good. How’s this, if you can’t afford it don’t waste other people’s time trying to low ball them . It’s insulting.
  2. No such thing as a $30 z part anymore. Let’s not forget he has been in the game a long long time and built up a fairly expansive contact base to acquire parts from around the globe be they NOS or repro. He wouldn’t be giving this away for free you can be sure of that. Warren is actually a really nice guy and from dealing with him over the years you learn not to push him to hard when in need of something.
  3. Repop bumpers with shit chrome that wont last. No overriders/ rubbers. By the time you buy all the parts and have the bumpers professionally rechromed it adds up mate. Scroll through the parts on ebay and start punching numbers into a calculator and see. You can't put weathered and faded old badges and taillights on a 50g restored car it stands out like dogs nuts. Its all the little things that add up.
  4. To restore that car you will be the one not telling us what you spent. However it is all relative to what you actually want the car to be and money will be spent on different areas accordingly. A track car will have less spent on body and paint but heaps more on engine driveline and suspension vs show quality resto that sucks up money through labour and the search for all the little bits and bobs that will have you shelling out money at an alarming rate. A pair of GOOD restored bumpers/ overriders with new rubbers will come in at around 3g alone. The best and easiest question is how much it will be to travel to the shannons auction and buy the red 240 and be done with it and enjoy it immediately.
  5. All race cars with a "green is nice"thrown in. South Sydney Car Club.
  6. Looks like Lightning McQueen. KA-CHOW!
  7. Now look what’s happened. We are off topic. Bloody string! Bloody red string!
  8. There you have it! Group S cars have to run them. They rev them out to 7500 - 8000 making the same power(sometimes more) than the larger capacity engines with triples. Remember people they are capacity restricted as well with only 1.5mm over std bore. ON TWO HITACHI’S. The only reason they would want triples is for off corner throttle response and maybe a little more power but maybe less as has been the case. Injected 280z are out there too running through a single throttle body, all with similar power figures. It’s crazy but it’s true. Must be why most race cars are red.
  9. Can anyone confirm the red paint thing as i am intrigued but somewhat in the dark as my car has 44 mikuni's but is blue in colour?
  10. Going away from the original question as it was L24 stock with no mods. Now we have L28 with cams. How’s this. OP the hp gains would be minimal but you will get increased induction noise and drool on the front guard from your mates when you pop the bonnet. That’s it! Unless you throw your stock diff away too and put a 4.1 ratio in to make it drive better around the streets. Then you may as well strip it out and make it as light as possible cause weight kills performance.
  11. Exactly, mick and you are still filling the same size cylinder regardless of which set up you have and target the same AFR so it’s only a minimal increase. As you know more gains can be made when proper heat shielding and cold air are introduced as well. All the little things help but you have to be prepared to whittle away at it.
  12. Yes the individual runner and accelerator pumps are the major benefit but the OP question was about a stock 2.4 and the gains would be minimal not massive as suggested. The Weber’s would have yes voter chokes in them to run and give a decent fuel curve but anyhoo. The question was as Gav suggests a piece of string with no mention of carb size. Have seen twin 45s jammed on 1275 sprite engines and the physics are abysmal . Seen 48s on 105 Alfa’s, ok at WOT and nothing but reversion all the way up. They are physically too big.
  13. Dyno figures or it didn’t happen. At the end of the day it’s only fuel delivery and any transformation you are feeling is accelerator pump related to drivability over SU/ Hitachi. It’s not like you have supercharged this stock engine or anything.
  14. I'm with MJ on this one,it's gonna be a thriller! Don't believe anything you read by forum experts to be gospel P90 valves are shorter as the chamber is deeper in the head. Comp ratios are fickle which rely on accurate measurements of piston to deck height, chamber volume, head gasket thickness and bore diameter plus any valve reliefs in piston and so on. Machine shops exist for a reason, they are tradesmen with years of experience and are in business to do the correct job but also to make money. Put an N42 on it with a bigger cam and no valve reliefs and you will die, and be back at the machine shop to do it all again. I don't set my house on fire just to have a go at putting it out myself.
  15. There is a cool vid down in the comments of Jim racing back in the day at Road Atlanta where he became known as the designated hitter.
  16. Yeah, not bad buying ey . Walk up starter at any historic meeting and pretend to be Paul Newman.
  17. Crazy prices for garage queen cars that probably never see the light of day, only to be stone cold free revved by some goose for a YouTube vid when the ex Jim Fitzgerald C prod SCCA, IMSA GTU 280zx historic racer just sold on bringatrailer in the US for $155k seem so so cheap for what you get. How many million dollar phase 3 owners are rubbing their hands together for the big payday??? Someone do the linky link thing for me , I only work on cars not computers.
  18. Do not listen to any of this kiwi voodoo magic. You will do more damage than good turning the crank with the timing chain removed and if you wedged the timing chain before removing cam sprocket you can't turn over engine. If you didn't wedge the chain you'll be pulling the sump and timing cover as well. Forget the gloves they are for pillow biters.
