  1. I'm in the throws of reassembly and at the stage of fitting the clutch slave cylinder. I cannot find a return spring for the clutch slave cylinder which makes me question if one was ever fitted? The parts manual shows a spring however the clutch fork and cylinder dont have an obvious fitting point for them It's a '77 Model 260Z with a 71B gearbox. All help appreciated. GH
  2. Thanks. Will reattach tomorrow with the right"9" bolts. I have also had to deal with mixed up fasteners 4, 7 and 9's across the whole build. How you find the car may not be how it was built with a mix up of metric coarse and fine as well.
  3. Can anyone help me identify the grade of bolt for fastening the engine crossmember to the chassis rails on a 260Z? Part no. 5 & 6 in the copied image. #5 Bolt - M10 x 1.25 Pt No. 08134-02510 #6 Nut - Ditto Pt No. 08911-24010 What I am trying to work out is if the bolt head has a "7" or "9" signifying tensile strength. When you get a bunch of fasteners back from plating, it takes a bit to sort out what goes where.
  4. I am fitting KONI Red 86-1917 Adjustable shocks with the lowered springs.
  5. Sorry for the delay. Im in Portugal on a bike holiday and away from my notes for a month. The only suggestion i can make is to contact Ken at Accurate Suspension. He has my Koni fronts for rebuild. He may also be able to offer alternatives.
  6. PM on the Mikunis

  9. Warren at Nissan Datsun Parts Shop has them. I was looking for some cheap electronic component that had them on the base or a supplier locally that sold these small pull through grommets. A few strange looks when I have been turning every component over looking for grommets, a bit like pottery hall marks! I have ordered some from the shop
  10. Datsun 1200 plastic clip is the same. Datsun Parts Shop has them and I think on line as well.
  11. Has anyone found a suitable local alternative for the two rubber grommets inside the fuel filler lid? Nissan part no. 78816-E4101 which is still showing as avalable via USA suppliers. I know Clark Rubber sell pull through grommets, however their smallest offering is too big and fits a 4.5 mm hole. I am after a smaller pull through or push in type stopper that fits a 3.5 mm hole. If I have to I will drill it out but I'd prefer not to.
  12. If you use a K&N style filter, they come with a tacky compound on both sides which makes the filter cover seals more cosmetic than anything. So a soft compound from Clarke Rubber works well with the K&N filter. I'm running dual K&N's so the filter housings don't touch.
  13. The strut turns on the top thrust bearing and if the spring is not bound then this bearing is loose, When your car goes up on the hoist for a machinery inspection and they find the spring rattling loose, it's an immediate failure. Ask yourself why there are a lot of lowered coil springs for sale. A lot of people give up trying to get a shorter shock and go for a coil-over.
  14. Yes. Correct. It's just a matter of taking the pivot pin out, reversing the catch and putting the pivot pin back in or making a new pivot. I'm happy to do this or take a local one and modify it.
  15. Be aware that fitting lowered springs requires a shorter shock length than standard. IF you fit the lowered KING springs with your standard length shocks, KYB's, KONIs whatever, the spring will not be encapsulated. Or in laymans terms, the spring will be loose between the top and bottom end stops, and your steering will not work. It's not acceptable (or safe) to have a spring that comes loose when you the wheel clears the ground. To fit a lowered spring, you need a reduced length shock and as I've found out, these are not commonly available. I tried to fit the KDFL-04's with 25 mm lowered KING springs and the spring is loose. So I have hunted around and found some shorter KONI's that are no longer available. I can sell you the KYB's that you are after but I'm wasting your time with shorter springs.
