  1. 16x8 Zero offset with 225/50 rubber is what is on this
  2. under a $1000 shipped from the U.S?? I recently thought I'd give MSA a go on something cheap. A $20 poster. They came back with $60 for shipping. Needless to say I didn't buy it.
  3. I really like the look of the Enkei Compe wheels. has anyone fitted them to their Z? apologies if this has been covered before. Did a quick search and nothing came up
  4. magnificent collection of Nissan/Datsun cars http://www.carpoint.com.au/news/2015/sports/nissan/nissans-magnificent-7-100626
  5. how much lighter is that than a stock flywheel?
  6. DAT240 (BenZed) has some big power and torque and because of this I imagined I'd need both feet to push the clutch pedal down. Was surprised how soft it was. I wouldn't get one if I didn't need it and particularly because of the extremely light flywheel and cost. We went for a spin around the block, I wasn't driving, the clutch seemed well behaved
  7. some pics would be good
  8. to revive this. I recently sat in DAT240 that has an OS Giken twinplate clutch and flywheel. The clutch pedal feel is great and would be comfortable to drive on the street, but the flywheel is extremely light and would take some getting use to. But if you drive a regular manual street car then get into this and vice versa, it would be hard to get use to. For a street car I'd prefer some mass.
  9. when I had my 280ZX 2 seater and came time for more power my mechanic at the time was Vince Rigoli (You may know him) and he pushed as hard as he could to get me to throw that L series in the bin. He wanted to do an RB30 with an RB26 head. I said no and tried to explain the goal. He relented and did a great job on my L28. He was pretty impressed with the result. I'll never forget the smile he had on his face when I came around to see it fire up for the first time. It sounded awesome with a big lumpy cam and it was something different to the usual hi-tec turbo twin cams he was used to. Long live the L series. amazing job on the Green Hornet................love it
  10. you'd think in this day and age that someone would make a replica of that wheel, not just a limited run. It doesn't look particularly complex but does look great and I'm sure interest in it would be huge. An alloy version at the right price. I'd get a set just for the hell of it.
  11. I remember when It came up for sale and saw $62k was the asking price. I thought it would be for sale for ages. It didn't last a week. My boss is a car nut and is sick of me whining about not being able to find a Zed,so when this came up I asked him if he could lend me $61500 to which he'd reply "F##k off". I even promised to pay him back! (I can joke around with him in this way......which is good)
  12. well I was $1000 under the starting bid
  13. http://www-edwardlees-com-au/Stocklist/nissan--------?page=3&sort=&yard= Shall we start a "What will the price be" guessing competition. no prize for the winner. I'll start $219,000
  14. ok had a lengthy chat with my mate and his car was 177 not 171 as he'd stated earlier He said it was written off in an accident. Whether it was scrapped or purchased as a wreck by someone is unknown. pics of the 280ZX 2 seater I owned are in http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/14120-280zx-2-seater-when-i-owned-it/
  15. that is it ORGAZM. I forgot about the numberplates. My mate din't put those on the car! Mate you should change your username to Z Detective. it prompted me to get in touch with my mate. It was a 1970 HS3000171 he said it was the display car at the 1970 Melbourne Car show but could never verify it
  16. Back in the early 90's a bloke who I met at TAFE was a mad Datto fan. He had a 1600 but was hell bent on a 240Z and always went on about them. I didn't know much about them nor thought much of them. I had a Bluebird wagon and a LJ GTR!!. Finally he got one. It was red, the darker red 905 I think? It had triple webers on the L24. He put 15x8 Neals wheels on it which I said looked crap. Anyway, I was hooked. The sound, the look, the interior, the performance and handling. Loved it. Made me realise what a piece of crap the LJ was. That influence led me to buying a '79 280ZX 2 seater in 1995. He always went on about the 240 being an early one, being a '69. I didn't understand the significance. After getting married it had to go and he sold it to his brother in law who I believe did an engine conversion, Toyota twin cam turbo 6 if I recall.......memory is fading. Brother in law liked doing burnouts, one to many times and the car was confiscated by the cops when those new laws were introduced (anti-hoon laws) and was impounded at the Wetherill Park police station. I saw it one day when I was out for a stroll in the impound yard. Looked like it had been there a while. Windows were open. I went to the front desk and asked about it and the cop tried to make out that I was doing something wrong. I explained I saw it from the outside of the yard through the chain wire fence, I wasn't in the yard. He had no time or interest in helping so I left. That was at least 15 years ago or more and the last time I ever saw it. Subsequently they put up a colorbond fence! I haven't been in touch with my mate in years, but I'll endeavour to do so and if I can, I'll get some info and pics. The car may well have already been listed in this excellent thread.
  17. but, I had a nice warm cozy spot just waiting for it!!!
  18. Thanks. I was wondering what purpose they served
  19. C'mon they look great would be something different Even "Green Hornet" has it.
  20. does anyone have anyone information on these rear bumpers? were they optional or an accessory? were they available in Australia. I've always liked it even though it does obscure the tailight
  21. Lurch I'd love to sample some of your systems. I'm assuming the 3" systems you've done would have been for race cars? When I do finally get a Z I'll have to get the system made down there unless you can recommend someone in Sydney. The assumptions I've made are from personal experience. I've been in a friends modified XR6 turbo with a 90mm (I think he said) single system and it was unbearable, then that system was ditched for a twin 2.5" which was really good. My old 280ZX 2 seater got better with changes but the drone was never eliminated and the same goes with my Clio 172. so what $$ are we talking about for a 2.5" system for a Z
  22. resurrecting this topic. every car I've owned has had a shop made exhaust and always without fail I end up with a droney unbearable system and spend time and money changing muffflers adding/changing resonators etc etc. You got to an exhaust shop and they're all experts but really they know crap especially if you have something different. On my Renault Clio Sport I have an English aftermarket sport system with 2.5" pipes. It drones, but not too bad. I wanted to eliminate it totally so I contacted Di Filipo exhaust in Melbourne after seeing a new type of resonator they had. They replied with "Your system is too big" and didn't try to sell me something that probably wouldn't work. So getting to the point. Big single systems will drone. A 2.5" system on a Z will drone. You can play with mufflers and resonators to reduce it, but it will always drone and without fail at 100-120km/h on the freeway. Twin systems such as the Fujitsubo Legalis R is the way to go. Looks good is well made and won't drone.
  23. sure, once adjusted to your personal preference, very unlikely you'll change it. It's good to have the ability to set as desired. slow, heavy steering is what makes the car feel its age. it'll be something I'll definitely do............as soon as I have a Z.
  24. I've wanted a hoist for years. Finally got a house with a great double garage out back, but unfortunately the roof height is too low. If I got a 4 poster the max I could lift the car is about 1 meter or possibly a bit more. Probably still better than on stands and lying on the concrete. My mate who is a builder and a car nut really really wants me to get a hoist. Yeah I said "$3000 for the hoist and $10000 to raise the roof"
