  1. i thought that and the bit above the door is glued directly to metal? original?
  2. how thick is the foam? did you use the same material for inside roof pillar?
  3. and it worked ok? it look like the textured material they use for seat. what the trimmer explained to me is that it comes with or with the fabric at the back. if you flip over the seat vynil, you will see the weaving at the back what type is the foam? open cell/closed cell, density, etc?
  4. it seems to be very thin platic with small holes, not standrd seat type heavy vynil? the trimmer didnt have anyhting like that and said that there's similar ford material, but with larger holes.
  5. these are knobs underneath the carbs. i've read from 2 to 4 full turns from the closed position does anyone have any suggestions or do i just fiddle till it sounds right?
  6. just waiting for a new manifold from dat2kman so that i can bolt the exhaust back up. not really new, but hopefully with a straight flange got all the electrics working plan to start gluing the interior vynyl today
  7. al good, except that now i have double relays, 4 all together to be exact. i'm sure this has been covered before, but i don't understand the wisdom of having relays ONLY for flashing high beams and not for the headlights anyway, i have these 2 factory replacements and the standard ebay chinese $10 H4 loom.for the main circuit sitting at the front of the car. so basically its double relayed and it all seems to work the only exception is the small button on the tip of the indicator stalk - which is some sort of a "flash" anyway, to get the whole thing going, i need to juggle the twist control, the flash button and the high beam switch ( pull on the indicator)
  8. all good, thanks for the stamp collecting advice - that sounds too mechanically intense for me it was oil inside the bullet connectors under the car, so resoldered a new set and as good as gold don't know what the other sensors are for - i think someone said its for neutral and 5 th gear?
  9. the start https://www.flickr.com/photos/62957688@N08/17023045402/in/dateposted-public/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/62957688@N08/16836965820/in/dateposted-public/ the engine with the 180 degree timing problem https://www.flickr.com/photos/62957688@N08/24435631663/in/dateposted-public/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/62957688@N08/24969175661/in/dateposted-public/
  10. i've now connected all the electrics and its still wierd, for example turning on the blinkers causes the needle to fluctuate. i'm pretty sure there's only one way to connect the tach and its looks like a dead simple device i know that the 260 tachs have a different casing and connectors, but i was wondering if the insides are the same?
  11. making progress, thanks to enzo and gav for the timing tips. now just waiting for a s.hand manifold because the original has a warped flange got all the electrics sorted today, so really kicking ass just the door to assemble and the misc. panel beating left
  12. found some more parts - have a look at the updated list
  13. came across this thread http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/8138-what-are-these-electrical-switches-on-280zx-box/ i think i have the same g.box. lurch said it came from a non turbo 280 the text says its the one with bullet connectors, but i can;t make it in the photo. is it the ones closest to the clutch hole? i've tested them all and they're all "open" when reverse is selected
  14. nearing the end of my resto and have some surplus parts, some unobtainium 1x fan housing ( the smaller one with the flap) 1x heater core 1x heater fan ( works) 1x L24 long block i got this from someone on the forum 2 years ago. it is allegedly a REPCO rebuild that has never been started. Piston/bore look mint everything but the head comes on a rebuild stand ( not an engine stand) https://www.flickr.com/photos/62957688@N08/33889194952/in/dateposted-public/ 1x set of reco front calipers 1x260z 2 door window winder. gears excellent https://www.flickr.com/photos/62957688@N08/33082377686/in/dateposted-public/ 1x set of fresh air vents with the cables. pretty knackered ,usable for parts 1 x set of seat hinges looking for a couple of parts myself, so OK for a swap photos shortly
  15. do you know the name of the place?
  16. and did you get my pm re: shroud
  17. that;s good idea, how much to ship to 3185?
  18. how much are you asking and what condition is it in?
  19. heavy and restrictive you say - its a bloody boat anchor
  20. i'll check with old man lochy. i just don;t understand how you can warp and f ..up a cast iron manifold!
  21. i defintely have a standard 240 radiator. forgot to say i have the 280 plastic fan. 7 blades? so it may not fit in the 240 shroud?
  22. thanks for all the response, didn't press the "following this thread" button, so didn't see the replies. i though the 260 onwards radiators are larger, thus the later versions are not suitable?
  23. i got a pair disassmbled ones, all bead blasted and spanking shiny . just haven;t put them together . will upload some phots. last time a complete and original pairs, without the m.fold in need of a full rebuild sold for $250
  24. i got a pair of the vents off zcardepot and they're good quality - if very expenses. the 45 year old originals were completely gone. i'd be amazed if you can get a.hand ones that are any different. before i dished out the cash, i thought of making copies in fiberglass
