  3. good point, mine is a ser2 thou, so don;t know if that makes a difference i just need a switch that lights up for the RWC. i'm pretty sure they don;t check the demister i'm not sure the it even works
  4. defintely have the rear defroster on the glass, so there must be a switch

  6. yes. the jaydee guy had the plugs. so ordered these and will start wiring up have bought a generic switch for the antenna up/down so will try to get that going also putting in an additional speaker on the RH side, in the original location does ANYONE have choke light and foglights in their '71?
  7. Hello, Finishing sorting out the electrics, rebuilt the combo switch as per thread. Mega happy, even the little flash button on the stalk works !!!   8. i had a massive LENCO 240v spot welder - nowhere near enough power from single phase. Need a 3 phase unit to make the proper 6mm structural welds, my one would would do weeny 2mm units

  12. all done - vynil glued, manifold on, putting on the front guards. and they don't fit, so have to elongate some of the holes doors are on, including the glass. w.screen and hatch glass is in bonnet on, but short 1 cm of the catch, i think there's adjustment in the hinge mounts time for some fots
  13. thank you cracker, car looks in awesome shape. is that an original RH mirror, or a swapped LH one? i've seen a couple of articles where people have made a customer made "pedestals" to alter the angle of the mirrors. i will probably do the same question for people who have BOTH original mirrors - are the dimensions the same? RH originals are NLA - at any cost.
  14. about to start drilling my precious new door skins. can someone be kind enough to point me to a diagram or take some measurements? all i found on the forum was a diagram for the fender mounted ones have 2 LH US mirrors thank you

  16. the drama ended when i paid a professional panelbeater to rip off the skin again, unbend the original edges ( since they were off by about 5mm) and put it all back together cost me plenty, but then again, what's a complete and 100% rust free door worth? its gotta to be a grand
  17. that did it. because the car was standing for a long time, had some corrosion on the wire terminals on the inside of the sender. would have to be the world's simplest device - just a coil of wire and a brass slider. some carb fluid and an acetone soak fixed it saved $100 for a new one. getting closer to finishing every day

  22. in terms of investment and time value of money, the only person on the planet who made money on cars was this guy. the guy who sold his house, all his shares .. and his underpants, went down to his ferrari dealer, bought a 250 GTO in late 60s, then he drove it around the block a few times, then locked in his garage, he has been living in a caravan park since then. then pulled it out last year. then sold it at bonhams for $38m average house price in syd then - around $6,000, cost of 7 year GTO then - the same everything else is chicken feed in terms of rate of return bullshit story, of course, but you get the point
  23. i'm surprised that ser 1 RX7 are not going anywhere. they seem to fit the same credentials as the Z - first segment play, 2 seater, have aged reasonably well in apperance, etc. they were probably pitched at the z buyers who moved off nissan after the various boat anchors like the 280zx got onto the showroom floor( no offence to their owners) clearly, like the zs, the newer they got, they worse they got. i know i considered one before i bought my z.. what put me off was the lack of parts support and the thirst of the rotary. although this was when juice was over $1.70 a litre another factor was that they seemed to be even more trashed then the zs i looked at. plus, although both cars weighed in at around 1000 kg, the original rotary was only good for 100hp, 50 hp less then the L24 giddy up!
