  1. Looking great Peter!
  2. That is quite a serious looking roll cage in the last photo! What motor (and spec) are you planning for that car?
  3. If anybody would like to add hazard lights to their 260Z, the procedure described in this topic should work the same as it does for a 240Z; http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/6506-240z-hazard-switch/page-2 The best bet might be to look on US eBay for a 280Z switch (not particularly cheap but a valuable addition). All you need is the switch and an extra flasher unit. *edit - I just had another look at the topic mentioned above and saw that peter t successfully added hazard lights to his 75 260Z.
  4. Cool - I ran a separate set of wires when I installed a fuel pump - but I would like to use these instead.
  5. Someone else will know more, but this technique might work; Do you know if these are the power and earth wires for an electric fuel pump?
  6. Just in case you don't know yet Gavin - 855 has just been listed for sale by CraigWarrenZ; http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/14764-240z-for-sale-in-port-lincoln-sa/ http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/port-lincoln-5606/cars-vans-utes/1971-datsun-240z-coupe/1109206720
  7. Quote Look what slipped through! I might have to tell Daniel.
  8. It is not compulsory - but if you have time - look at what Peter (PB260Z) and I said in replies #2 and #3 and the pages linked to in those responses.
  9. OK - I can see that it all looks correct now, and they look fine to me. I am not sure what you meant when you said "I put in some slight bits to help fill it out so it doesn't move". As previously mentioned - did you find that you had 'Koito' sealed beams? Are you thinking of doing the relay upgrade to further enhance your headlights and save your precious switches and wiring?
  10. Hello Mike - nice to make your acquaintance. Any friend of Z is a friend of mine - although as you probably know we call then 'Zeds' not Zeeeeee's' .
  11. I can't quite see well enough in your photos - but do you have the headlight rings in front of the headlight 'glass' or behind? The rings should be in front, holding the headlight unit in place. You can see this reasonably well in the photo below ('borrowed' from Matt Drago's website (http://240z.drago.com.au/?attachment_id=139). As far as I know all conventional round headlights are usually 5 and three-quarter inches (146mm) or 7 inches (178mm) diameter, so your 'Autopals' should be the correct size.
  12. A used Lincoln 180C welder (as used and recommended by leading AusZcar members!) in Crestmead, Queensland. eBay item number:322061363899 http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/mig-welder-Lincoln-180c-/322061363899 $600 Buy It Now
  13. I see dead videos? It's still there on my 'interweb thingy'.
  14. I think it might be a potential problem to have orange parking lights at the front. Have a read of this page; http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1707992 One of the replies there cites this Australian Design Rule about lights, but it seems to only apply to cars built in or after 1991. 'Vehicle Standard (Australian Design Rule 13/00 – Installation of Lighting and Light Signalling Devices on other than L-Group Vehicles) 2005' https://www.legislation.gov.au/Details/F2005L03991 The obvious (but not cheap) solution is to replace the lenses with clear versions, as it would have had when new. Technically, I can't have a similar set up on my car because cars built in or after 1973 must have orange/amber front blinkers (ADR 6 for Direction Turn Signal Laws).

    Seatbelt Hook 260Z

Hopefully their very small size and negligible weight will result in a reasonable shipping price - unlike so many other Z parts from the USA.
  16. I have had a minor run in with Daniel too - he does not take criticism at all well.

    Seatbelt Hook 260Z

It looks the same as the 240Z hooks; US$25 a pair plus shippig http://www.new-datsun-parts.com/datsun-240Z-parts-interior2.html Zeddsaver also sells them for US$40 a set but lists them as 240Z - 280Z seatbelt hooks http://www.zeddsaver.com/products/240z-280z-interior-seatbelt-hooks
  18. My guess is that there are two for the headlights (i.e. one for low beam and one for high beam), one for the horn and the other is for the parking lights. Some people add a relay for the parking lights for a similar reason to the headlight relays. See this page again; http://datsun-240z-upgrades.net/product-info/ The factory wiring did include a horn relay. Correct
  19. Read my reply (post#9) again. What is the compliance plate date of your car?
  20. OK - you have combined blinker and parking lights then (1970 - 1972 240Z). That means you need BA15D sockets like the items you found on eBay. BA15S = Single filament bulbs, BA15D = Double filament bulbs. My 240Z is a 9/73 model which has separate blinkers and parking lights, and therefore use single filament bulbs.
  21. These are for LHD cars, but they may help.
  22. Question 1 Search for "harness tape" on eBay Question 2 I have the same problem. I bought some of these from eBay, but I have not tried them yet; http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2-Pcs-BA15S-LED-Lamp-Turn-Light-2-Wire-Socket-for-Car-/151787148513?hash=item23573814e1:g:fDwAAOSwf-VWYPrY Question 3 I bought the CK-5N kit from 'Vintage Connections' in the states; http://vintageconnections.com/ It only suits some of the connectors, but I think these are the most difficult to find. Question 4 This might help a little.
  23. You are correct about the "sealed beam" description. And you are also correct that the common upgrade is to replace them with units that take H4 bulbs. Make sure that you don't buy headlights intended for a left hand drive car, as they will not have the correct beam 'cut off' pattern and will be illegal here. You should also be aware that the factory wiring puts all of the headlight power through the headlight switch which can cause failure of the switch/wiring and also contributes to the dimness of the headlights. The best solution for you would be to install H4 units and modify the wiring to use relays for the headlights. You can either do this by wiring it up yourself; http://www.zhome.com/DaveRelay/DaveBuild/DaveInstruction.htm or by buying a 'plug and play' kit like this one; http://datsun-240z-upgrades.net/product-info/ PS - If you have the original sealed beams (Koito brand I think) they are sought after by strict concours restorers, so you might not want to bin them.
  24. I think it would look better on the baby! http://www.cafepress.com.au/mf/63980675/fairlady-z_bodysuit?utm_medium=cpc,cpc&utm_term=baby-onesies,609766567--c-9056926&utm_source=google,pla-google&utm_campaign=cpc-product-ads-au,219995070&utm_content=609766567,17400712590&productId=609766567
