  1. This is a very sad day and it is a terrable thing that has happened. Unfortunately for his family and friends this will be very hard and they will blame themselves but there is no blame to be given as mental illness has no blame just a sad ending. My thought go out to all of his family and friends in this time. You will be missed and remembers Kyle.
  2. Wow that look great man! You really did well. The place is coming along really well mate!
  3. Soooo what did i do this weekend..... Well i was very busy trying to enclose the front intercooler and radiator area, also incorporated some break ducts into the front opening. I was also able to start making my intercooler pipes.
  4. the pick up is in the same spot in the sump. the dip stick will read 6mm lower but it will have the same amount of oil ...
  5. there is no mods to the block in this girdle . it is 6mm thick and the oil pickup bolts through to the block
  6. hay haul Hi i think i will talk to lurch about a 'how to' youtube vid on the BMW rack, its not that hard if you are handy and have a welder it can be done in a weekend. The valves all point in the right way, the engine mounts dont have to be cut mine has been braced under neith with a plate that doubles as the locating holes for the bottom of the rack. I will check all the details on which rack but it did come out of a '97' 318.
  7. hey jamo240 Will have a look at my tie rods and get back to you. I did mine in 1 weekend a year ago and didn't pay that much attention to the threads coz they just bolted on! lol I will take a look tomorrow and let you know. I think i might have been pretty lucky with the BMW rack as it looks like it was a much easier conversion, when i went looking in the wreckers it was the first car i found and with my tape measure it looked like it would do the job so i just put it in! lol
  8. yer the rear hatch just clips on .two clips at the top and two mounts at the bottom comes of in 20 seconds. fuel cell is in the back so it has to come of .
  9. will post more pics for you scando. will test the mounts if they work ok will make you some
  10. no mate his engine is out getting a freshen up
  11. The beauty of this girdle is that you dont have to do any machining. There is no need because this bolts to the top of the main tunnels with spaces.
  12. hi all the wing mounts to the body for two reasons , 1 the rear hatch weighs 2kg and has no strength and 2 they work better if they are mounted to the chassis as all the force is transmitted to the suspension ps had the car weighed to day and it came in at 830kg
  13. thanks for the nice comments
  14. Front Bumper Canards are the perfect answer to aerodynamically tune the handling for the front of a car. Made of lightweight and durable carbon graphite composites, Front Bumper Canards help increase front downforce at high speeds. The added downforce stabilizes the cars chassis during hard cornering and increases traction for faster lap times.
  15. yes they are little wings for more down force
  16. Sorry Gordo, I am not going to be able to make it this weekend. I am snowed under at work and have been told i have to work on the weekend to catch up. Really sorry i cant make it coz i would have loved to see all the other Z's.
  17. Yes it is adjustable, it has 3 positions at the back and 3 at the front for diffrent angles of attack. It is actually a super car wing off a Commodore and yes it's not just for show i actually want down force from it. I also have an rear diffuser for under neath the rear end, the front also has a splitter that is pretty large to try and keep the front down, it will also have canards for front guards.
  18. No i only work on my car every other weekend when my daughter goes to her mums for the weekend and sometimes after work if i can so i dont think i will have enough time to get it running before the BBQ next month.
  19. Yer nar this one for the track its got no lights 13in slick might be a problem to
  20. Another week sees me getting closer to finishing the car. This week i finally got the rear wing and rear hatch clipped on and all the fuel lines fully clipped on so i just have to make intercooler pipes and finish wiring the Haltech up.................................AND to be continued.............
  21. Hi Gordo will let noel know. but his car is in the shop need some love
  22. The rear main leak is from crank flex. The shaft is moving up and down this is the reason the seal is damaged. When replacing bearings on big hp l6 engines the mains are normally out of round on 1 & 6 by 3-4thou this would indicate that the crank is flexing through its length. A girdle will go a long way in reducing crank flex and hopefully help bearing life, as for using an RB girdle this would be a monumental and expensive way around the problem as you would need to line bore the main tunnel which in impractical and the man that built this girdle was no fool and also built some of OZ's best L series long before most of us had Z's or knew how to build motors!
  23. RN26 is a very hard wearing steel, when you are tightening bolts down you don't want the steel to give or wear. That is why mild steel is not up for the job. By the way that is enough fat jokes!!!! lol

  25. make it out of steel it is a better material for the job. there are small spacers that are needed for the mains from memory .no big deal to make we can make them from RN26 can cnc the hole thing if you wont
