  1. This is obviously something that I have no great idea about, but from my last trip I recall there is really only 1 way to get to PI once you're outside Melbourne - so perhaps a meet at a truck stop on (princess?) highway just outside town is the way to go?
  2. Anyone interested in going down in Convoy from Melbourne? I'll be likely trucking the car to a friend in Melbourne and then driving down around lunch time on Thursday. Would make a long slow trip a bit of fun. I vote whoever has the most accurate GPS gets to lead the group tho - I almost had a heart attack in '07 trying to stay under 80 through that never ending point-to-point speed camera!!!
  3. Given coil-overs, you're probably best to measure the back spacing on your car and work it out as no 2 cars will be the same. You'll need 5" of space between the plane that runs along the face of the hub to the coil-over. Then also 5" out from there to fit under the flares. They would have to be some pretty amazing flares to fit. You also need to ask the question of why - 10" is bigger than useful on a zed. 8" is about all the tyre such a light weight car can actually use. As for looks - also subjective. personally I think it'll look terrible, but then you're not me either. Quick google found this: "With coil-overs a 10" wide wheel could use a -13mm offset." http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4005/5134648974_17dd1ee73e_o.jpg Another thing to consider will be clearance to the frame rail - go to wide and you'll run out of turning circle pretty quick
  4. First post updated Almost all the stuff is gone, just the guards, tail shaft and exhaust headers left. Come and get them guys!
  5. Just around the corner from my car.... Not sure the Old's would appreciate 40 z's rocking up tho So close and yet so far
  6. When the difference between online and local retail is 100%, 10% is not going to change buying habbits. It's going to slow up customs and waste a lot of time and money, that is it. Filling in a bazzilion forms to clear goods through customs is going to be a major PIA but when the difference is still 90%, woop-de-woop, retailers really need to start recognising that their old business models don't work!
  7. I just sold a set of as-new reconditioned seats with about 5,000km on them for $150
  8. Haha, sounds like one of those classic D'OH moments we all have! At least it was easily fixed No wonder shipping was so much on these things tho, I only ordered then 5 days ago! How's that, faster to go US to AU than Sydney to Perth for parts :S
  9. Bit off topic, but I have their control arms (front and back) and torsion rods. Super good stuff, I swear by it!
  10. Hi Folks, I managed to ruin the tail light panels that I had, so I am looking for a full set to fit a 260z 2 seater. Just the panels, I have good lights. I was keen on some carbon fiber ones, but can only find 240z from a reputable seller. I'll be painting them anyways, so whatever you have I'll take. Also looking for a set of front indicators - the ones that sit on top of the bumper, like these: http://jacobgreene.net/zcar/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/IMG_1127.jpg PM me here or email tomwhitfield@gmail.com Need these ASAP in good quality, happy to buy new if you have a lead for me! Thanks!
  11. Matching seats! You're a legend Dad, thanks! I've always wanted to see that pic: The one from the front showing how low the car is and the stupidly over-sized matching Sparco logo's For everyone playing along at home, these seats were the only ones I could find new that mount on the standard rails (mounting holes line-up anyway, a bit of work has been done to lower the seat) and clear the doors! That means that we will be located centrally to the steering wheel and pedals, unlike most solutions that require the driver to sit closer to the transmission tunnel. I never really thought I'd feel like it, but that cartoon rings far too true at the moment
  12. My understanding has always been that the Wolf Creek shafts were good for only 600hp? I'm not standing up for anyone, but I've run these shafts for 6-7 years now and the only issue has been the locking bolts backing out, which I sorted by using nylock nuts. They are a bit noisy and clunky, especially at full droop it's possible to wiggle them by hand !! However, at horizontal they are good and they've lasted this far (5 gearboxes and 2 diff mounts later) when I couldn't get a single track day out of a set of uni joints. Chiseling the splines is pretty dodgy when they should have a proper fitting set of shafts, but they still work fine don't they in this application....
  13. That was a huge whack, glad to hear you're alright! Not the first 280zx to succumb to the mountain, one hit the wall (I think even the same wall) in 2008 at the regularity trial held over easter. I also tend to agree with Jason, something not quite right with the setup on that car, it just didn't look like it wanted to turn in at all, looked very 'washy' on the front. Hopefully you can salvage some stuff and get another car back up and running.
  14. Thanks Dad! Car looks nice and straight again and my pride (wallet) doesn't hurt too much either. As a small update, the brake kit arrived last week and Dimitri is sending the final few parts I need and we'll have everything needed to get it going again!
  15. I still have the master cylinder, but that's the last of the brake stuff
  16. Hey Folks, For anyone in Perth all of the stuff in the first post is still for sale. I'll be at the zed day next Sunday and I won't be going home till it's all sold!

  19. Similar to Dimitri, I have decided I am going to just stick my car on a truck to take it to the workshop without guards on and then re-install them as the very last thing that goes back on. I was being VERY careful and bent them, would hate to see what they look like if the mechanics lent on them changing engine/gearbox!
  20. Haha, they sound like words from a man well aquianted with Murphy!
  21. I just learned that one the hard (expensive) way!
  22. No I was in the process of installing the wiring loom a couple of months back and I've dented the front guards already. I also stupendously used a lock ring without a washer on the windscreen wiper mounting points and took all the paint off the cowel in that point..... Not the greatest start to the rebuild! The fuel tank was split, fixed and re-welded, it's ready to go. I've got the dual master cylinder brake kit in the post and Dimitri is chasing down the last few missing parts I need to collect. Dad is renovating his house at the moment but has promised to work on the car when he's finished. Around work, being on the other side of town, providing assistance to the girlfriend who is doing her garden, dogs, cats, remote control car racing (wtf?!) and all manner of other convenient excuses life just seems to be getting in the way..... I was once a boy at uni who thought this would take 10 grand and 6 months, but I now totally understand how builds can take 10 years or more! Well, at least no kids to get in the way yet, well, except the dog anyways. However, I have booked accommodation for PI next year, so the plan is still to be ready for that and it's not totally out of the question, I just need to pull a finger out.
  23. I must be doing something wrong, this was me in 2010: 3.9diff, 205/55 rubber, SR20 box 6500rpm 245kph Wipers way off the window Lapping 2:55 I think most of it is due to the diff, way too tall going back up the hill lugging all the excess weight it used to have, but wouldn't be able to do 245 down again as would be on the limiter at less than that.
  24. Love it Pete! I'm only 24 but man, if my kids think there will be anything left when there are things like this left to do (multiple times) they've got another thing coming! I was in the UK in sep last year, devastated that I missed it then!
  25. Hi Hopo, I'm afraid the sunroof left on the back of a truck on Tuesday...
