  1. I'm actually in the process of getting quotes to send them to Sydney for another buyer I'm afraid. If the sale falls through I'll let you know. I'll also have shipping prices ready if that's the case too
  2. Quite a rush there in the first couple of days but things have slowed down. I've updated the first post to show what's left, also dropped the prices to get things moving, I would like the room back in my shed Bumpers pending, wheels down to $550
  3. By any chance have you looked in to replacement tail lights? I just broke the lenses in mine cause some dummy previous owner glued them in instead of using the proper gaskets! 260z btw
  4. Unfortunately, rust free in cars this old means that someone has cut it out. To then have it back together and running, you're looking at significantly more than 10 just for the work. 10k will buy you a 240, but it'll be a long way from pretty. 25 will probably get you a running, good nic (not much rust) 240, but even then it won't be rust free. Could get a nice project 2+2 for 10
  5. Just satisfied my daily shopping urge, thanks for the link Not fussed about the hinge. I use the console for a pen and wallet/phone, but the lid is not all that tall so I don't really mind, it's just to look better than my horrendously cracked and butchered copy.
  6. Mines buggered, mine sharing where you found yours??!!!
  7. Custom S30 front spoilers Hi Guys, Whilst doing the restoration on my car I had the front spoiler redone and a mould made up and I can now make these available for sale at a great price. Cost is obviously dependant on number of copies made, but I was quoted around the $300-400 mark to have them made up ready to go on your car. The shop makes good quality stuff and I’ve been very happy with their products. I’m not looking to make money out of these, simply to provide the community with another option for a fantastic looking piece of body work. For the first one sold, I will work out with the purchaser a special price and conditions for the first copy sold just to make sure that the fit on other cars is as good as it is on my car. If you’re a local, I’ll buy one and not charge before I know that it’ll fit. My car was measured and pulled completely straight during the restoration, so I can guarantee that my car and hence these spoilers are dead straight and not some dodgy copy from a car that no-one knows the history of, as is typically the case of moulds made from cars of this age. Pictures of the spoiler can be found attached to this post and also over on my build thread ( http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,6991.0.html ). The spoiler is very aggressive with large air ducts capable of making any zed look fast even when standing still. Send me a PM, reply to this thread or email me at tomwhitfield *at* gmail.com
  8. Tidied up the post a bit there. Also dropped the price on the wheels to something more realistic: $750 for a set of 4 15x7" fully restored rims that will make your zed look great and handle much better when wrapped in 225/50 tyres.
  9. I quite like sunshine and the sea Happy to arrange post!
  10. [bits Sold]
  11. Hi Guys, Well, the car is back home and after trawling through the shed for a couple days digging out everything I need to put it back together I have found a few left-over items. I have put them here in no particular order and there are links to my photobucket album with more pictures of each of the items for sale. All prices are what I would consider fair for a quick sale; however, send me offers if you think I missed the mark. All items are sold as is with no warranty or guarantee expressed or implied, the usual affair, however all items were working without an issue when I took them off the car before the rebuild, I simply have either upgraded in the endless pursuit for more speed or no longer have need for these parts. I’m happy to sort out shipping from this end, but you’ll have to foot the bill yourself additional to the price of the product. If you’re in Perth, feel free to drop around and have a look if you like, send me a PM and we can sort it all out. 4. 260z tail shaft. Balanced, new uni joints not long ago, in fantastic nick except for minor surface rust and some paint flaking off. Ran this in my car for about 12 months before the gearbox conversion and new tail shaft was made. $150 8. Standard exhaust headers. Wrapped in fibreglass cloth. I think I had these on the car for about 6 months as a stop-gap before the custom headers were made. Come with the fibreglass wrap on them and with a short length of 3” exhaust welded to the end of the collectors. $100 10. Pair of Fiberglass front guards (240z) from Alfa Fiberglass. These cost me $345ea plus delivery from the east and are brand new! $500 Unfortunately due to the size of these shipping is prohibitively expensive and as such these are a pick-up item only. See my album for more pics of the minor damage. I photographed every worn place on the seat, I'm not trying to fool anyone. It's in good nick, but not new. More photos can be found here: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v621/Tommo560/Zed%20Spares/#!cpZZ1QQtppZZ16 PM me or post here. First in with the cash takes the items. Payment via paypal (gift), cash or bank deposit is fine. Cheers, Tom.
  12. 23 June 2012 Well ladies and gentlemen, it’s true. 13 months since the car was last on a tow-truck the zed has again had a trip on a tow truck. “What? Who? How is that significant, you’re not making sense” I hear you say, well, the zed is home!!! Indeed, the second chapter of the story is complete and the third chapter has started, it’s time to put it back together. Of all days to forget to carry my camera, it was today. And of all days to have the backup camera go flat, it was also today. So, not many photos, but plenty of significance none-the-less. I won’t bore you with my words, on to the photos: Will had the car siting in the yard waiting for our arrival, out in the sun for the first photos of this paint-job in the sun and WOW does it look good: Colin showed up not long after us and meticulously loaded the car on to the trailer. This is the highest the car has sat in a long time, but still the nerves were high making sure there was no damage. Eyes glued on the car, me making sure everything was going OK: And so the car was loaded on to a truck for the trip across town and back home. Massive thanks to Will for what has not been finally counted but is at a best guess ~1200-1300 hours of love spent on this restoration. It really has been a labour of love. About 45 minutes later the car came to rest back in its nest. And so folks, the next stage starts and it’s time for me to put hours into the car again and get it going. Today consisted of making space in the garage to fit the car in and tomorrow will mark the first day of rebuild, starting with fuel hoses and wiring loom. Stay tuned, the pressure is on to have the car going as soon as possible so that it can be shaken down in time to jump on a truck to Philip Island for Easter 2013 and the NDSOC nationals.
  13. FYI: Car came back home today As per tradition, full update to come that I'll write during the F1 qualifying
  14. It's time for me to start ordering, any chance you guys have pics? I'm looking for the beset stuff around but hear lots of conflicting advice on what brand and size mc's to get! I've got the commodore front brakes and skyline rear
  15. All this talk about 280zx 2-seaters and that other thread about over-priced number plates jogged my memory. I saw this on facebook and then via club email, but the 280zx 2-seater from the fat-pizza movie is for sale, no price listed Phone Mike 0458 008 097 Car must be sold by 30th of June or will be removed for sale, all serious offers consider, please do not make an offer unless you can back that offer up with cash money (that means you Rob)
  16. That rear one looks like it might last half a tow before the right-angle snapped, but I wouldn't be caught dead using that front one, that's the quickest way I know how to bend your front end. I wanted to mount the rotisserie to that point on my car and it couldn't hold the weight of an empty shell, would hate to see what would happen if you get a rough pull on an angle out of sand.....
  17. Here is what I have on the front, must be 1/4" thick steel, bolted to the chassis rail: And in the back, a steel bracket with a Head stud of all things welded to it, attached at the bumper mounting point, which is attached to the chassis rail. This one is a little strange to see, but I shot it from UNDERNEATH and looking back. So, the red bracket is bolted to the rear of the car and the black bracket and other black bits is the rear bumper. Works a treat, I've been towed a couple times and never had an issue with this setup.
  18. That would be Ken Lyon's car Very tidy and respectably quick.
  19. Who cares about the trophies, If you really must have one then go to a trophy shop and have one made for $20, it's not hard. Let's just get on the track!!
  20. Provided I don't have to modify the body, I am SO keen. Cosmetic only is fine for me but could easily be swung to a carbon real deal diffuser if the price was right. Also a front diffuser that I don't have to make by hand would be awesome Just saying. Anything is better than looking at the bottom of a fuel tank!
  21. Everything said here is very well said and as far as I can tell, about as concise and accurate an answer you're going to get. Anyone who is offended probably doesn't like that their car is not worth as much as others simply due to the number on the hatch or seating arrangement. Having said that, as it is with all classics, price is HEAVILY dependent on condition. You get 2k 240z's right through to 35k 2+2's, it's so dependent on what has/not been done and whether or not YOU are prepared to pay it. At the end of the day, what someone wants to pay will dictate what it's worth. What people decide to buy is usually determined by their initial investment decision and what they want to do with the car. I don't do much road driving so my experience is skewed towards performance, but all 3 cars can be made to go just as fast around a track, it's simply a matter of what you would rather drive on the road and/or how much you want to pay up front. However, If I had a dollar for every time someone justified buying a 2+2 on the basis of being ablr to cart the kids around and then never actually put the kids in the car EVER, well, I'd have more than a fist full of coins. If you're buying your first and you intend on spending a lot of money on it, then the 240 is the way to go. I often regret not ditching the car I had and replacing it with a 240z before undertaking the restoration I have and would advise anyone thinking of spending big bucks to look for a good condition 240. It'll cost more up front, but less in the long run as well as being more desirable. That being said, once a car has been done, I've seen all 3 variants go for pretty much the same money all in the same condition.
  22. Haha! Quote of the thread! Zedman, that's the plan at this stage, time is hopefully not against us getting it running tho! Looks like at this stage I'll truck it over for the PI historics to run regularity there and then leave the car with some friends and fly back for the nationals at easter, same as Dad and I did in 2007. I was thinking of doing Bathurst, but done that twice now so it'll be nice to go back to PI for one last shot before work sends me overseas and I lose the chance to go again. Hmm..... Just been looking at the pics of the new suspension and unless I'm severely mistake I rekon there is more than an inch between the wheel and the struts now that it has coil-overs on it... 9" rims on a zed hey.... Anyone want to buy a set of unused 16x8 Rota RB's ??!!! I have photo evidence that the car has never been driven with these rims on, maybe pushed around a few hundred meters going in and out of the garage.
  23. Haha, I know I keep harping on about "race cars are built to race and get damaged, yadda yadda yadda" but I told Will and Dad today that we'll wait for a break in the weather so the car doesn't get wet on the back of the tow truck on the way home...... I'm as curious as you are!
  24. Cheers Pete Unfortunately no PMC engine, but hey, there is always room for improvement right!
  25. 10 June 2012 Hi Folks, Well, not really a huge update, but a very significant one and subsequently a LOT of photos. I apologise in advance (no, not really, I’m just being polite) but the car is BACK ON THE GROUND! The car was first delivered to Will on Saturday 28 May 2011. 12 months and 13 days later, I have the following to show you: That’s right folks, it’s ALMOST DONE!! You have no idea how good this feels. Actually, I’m sure there are plenty of people who do, but I can guarantee that if you haven’t ever rebuilt a car you have never felt this good. It’s simply amazing and I’m buzzing, waiting for next weekend to come so I can bring it home Ok, so, theatrics aside, this is how I found the car when I arrived: Still, not bad. Will had the cowl panel off waiting on me to deliver the wiper motor and all the wiring and pipe work, but I’m going to do that later after I get it cleaned up and presentable, however, chek out the bonnet locks: I couldn’t help myself and so started snapping away with the car on stands: Rear tow hook, also in Monaco red: Unfortunately, we’ve had category 2 cyclone winds today here in Perth and the result was the the power blacked out after I’d only taken 5 pics. Not to be disheartened I asked Will to take the car off the stands so I could take some better pics. I tried to get a little creative using a torch to try and get the sparkle in a photo. I had not seen it before, but in the dark under a spot light the car just looks INCREDIBLE!! I know a lot of these photos have looked good, but WOW. The paint starts to have a bit of a purple tinge and HEAPS of pearl comes through. This was the best I could manage: The lack of light couldn’t hold me back, Hell, that’s why cameras have flash right!? Sit back and enjoy: The wheels now fit inside the guards: Compare this to when I first mounted the new rims over a year ago: Front: Rear: I kept going in the dark and the arty me tried to come out, despite being severely hampered by my extraordinarily poor photography skills: For some reason I just can’t get enough of this photo: And here I was thinking that the suspension was looking in good nick, I swear it did! Will just makes it look bad in comparison! Looking above the front bumper and under the bonnet at the bonnet hinges that have been shown some love via nickel plating: And the engine bay ready to take the L28 that Tus and the boys at Osborne Park Service Centre are building for me: Like I said folks, not a big update (aside from the 17 photos) but a significant one. Will tells me he’ll have the car ready for me to put on a truck next weekend so that I can bring it home and get started on the slow process of putting it back together. For now, stay tuned and enjoy. Fun facts: 20,383 words, 351 photos, 77 pages in raw format in Word, 12,040 individual views on AusZcar
