  1. Hope there will be plenty of in car video being taken and released for public viewing, no need to buy an overpriced GoPro to get great video so no excuses chaps. I plan on having old faithful camera centrally mounted as usual plus another facing back hopefully getting some good exhaust sound. Then there is a dash mounted GPS digital speedo and the illuminated gear number indicator both of which will be picked up by old faithful. All the GPS speedo needs to operate is a USB adaptor plugged into the cig lighter for the cord. Incidentially I've found video great to observe how a car is handling and how one is driving, it's certainly not about 'I am so fast' nonsense so let's share.
  2. Wow, great in car video
  3. Timing info. For those of us who need myLap (crap) transponders they will be available for hire at the Timing Room which is near garage 36.
  4. If you Sc blokes are allowed slotted front rotors StopTech make quality product https://whiteheadperformance.com/product/stoptech-cryo-slotted-front-brake-rotors-datsun-240z-1970-73/
  5. I'm not familiar with the twin master cylinder setup but with the stock setup it's essential to brace the MC to the strut tower. The S30 firewall flexes like crazy when pushing hard on the brake pedal which loses some effective brake travel right there. And that's with power brakes reducing pedal effort. Being controversial again, I do question the use of separate MC's for a S30, with mine using the stock power brake system and a proportioning valve in the rear circuit replacing the stock valve there was never any problem as far as correct functioning goes at all. Heaps of pedal feel too because there was no hard pushing on the pedal required and so modulating was easy. Of course the vacuum unit has to be set up properly, no on/off nonsense.
  6. New seals should fix it, can't imagine that it's solely the result of heavy race use. Has anyone tried cyrogenic treatment of the rotors to extend their life? On brake pads, I ordered a set of Project Mu club racer pads and was shocked to see that they had a lot of metal bits in the compound so they were sent back. Good high temp compounds don't have metal bits in them period. I'm sold on Carbotech pads, they just about stand the Zed on it's nose, the big rotors get hot enough to have tiny surface cracking but rotor wear is not a problem.
  7. Isn't there a bloke who advertises occasionally here who does interstate car transporting? A month or so ago was his last one.
  8. Excellent, mount the camera higher just a touch please to save me from looking over the dash
  9. Zed seems to be handling nicely in that ^ pic.
  10. Might be an idea for the Q contingent to post up their leaving times, routes, etc too. We'll be leaving around 7.00 am from Warwick, going via the Newell Hway which is probably best if towing, arrive around 5.00 pm. Have all day Friday then to jump through the OH&S hoops and iron my hi vis vest
  11. Link to results here http://racing.natsoft.com.au/results/#2Three litre engines in the Porkers, that's a bit rough but shows they need more power to beat a common old Datsun lol.
  12. Dies would be expensive though wouldn't they? I assume that you have provided the original parts from which dies have been made. Agree that it's a good idea, particularly for a race car, I'd love some plastic doors for the Z31 project. On electric steering, I'm using a S14 PS rack, so that it still has lubrication a little bit of oil is left in the rack. The two oil fittings near the centre of the rack are connected and the rest are blanked off. That's it.
  13. What is the story on the plastic panels?
  14. Just play nice nice with the Porkers
  15. Lol, realistically it should make bugger all difference in regularity, I wanted a bit more rake for high speed Bathurst but now will have to lose a bit to regain some droop.
  16. The coilovers are custom made by MCA to my specs but tyre sizes have changed a lot since they were specced years ago. That plus I've learnt a bit since then on suspension setup.
  17. Although wider the new rear tyres are smaller in diameter than the previous tyres due to being a lower profile. I didn't realise that the difference would be so important.
  18. Only have spring height adjustment Jason and that is dictated by ride height requirements. Can live with a bit of extra front droop but with a Torsen type LSD a fair bit of rear droop is required to keep both wheels on the ground.
  19. With the new Hankooks it turns out that the suspension has too much droop in the front and not enough in the rear. It's early three way MCA and works very well but does not have separate length adjustment so I'm pretty well stuck with it and will have to drive accordingly. There is also quite a difference in ride height between the two fronts too so either the car has a significant right side weight bias, unlikely, or else the two King springs have developed different rates. Bugger.
  20. Engine and gearbox combo are a bit dated but if it's a good as it looks in the pics then if it's what you are interested in check it out.
  21. On the hoist for a brake and suspension check, she's keen to go
  22. It's better to have it out there for sale where it may get restored than to have it continue to rust away until nothing salvageable is left. GLWS.
  23. Not much more than a month to go now, anyone doing any special preparation or is it just going to be another track day? Diff ratios? Aero? Got new semis for the 280ZXV8, 275's and 245's which have done 20 minutes straight at Morgan Park to put them through a heat cycle without leaning on them too much. Transmission has finally been sorted and the car drives like a dream now, it really is pleasure and fun all in one package 3.7 diff ratio and the top gear is 0.75
  24. Link to said video?
  25. OK, a break from my dodgy looking but effective welding, the coilovers have arrived and are presented to you in all their not Tein green glory. Imported without springs, Kings will be used and when changes are likely it's best to stick with the one brand.
