  1. I've started to have a play with my triple dellortos (emission type), mainly to see what bits I have, and what I need. Where does everyone buy their dellorto parts? I've found the UK dellorto website, and a US ebay shop that seem alright range/price wise. Anyway, one of the my carbs has no main or idle jet assemblies. The other two have 145 mains with 7772.10 emulsion tubes and 240 air correctors, and 55 idles. All three have 32mm chokes and 7848.3 axillary venturies. I figure for a start, i'll set the third carb up the same as the other two. Jets seem pretty cheap, so I might grab some idles either side of the 55, and some lower mains (based on Sulio's spreadsheet). I've know fuel pressure is important, is it worth getting one of those variable regulators you see on ebay every now and then? Or should I be able to get the pressure about right with just a restricted fuel return? I'll also need softmounts, and a new manifold gasket. The carbs came with a new one, but it was broken in transit. Are these off-the-shelf, or should I take my broken one in to a exhaust shop/mechanic to get a new one made from the sample? With the idle jet air corrector, am I right in thinking the reduction from 2.0mm to 0.9mmis done with a small tube that down the centre of the idle jet holders? Can someone get me some dimensions on these? Wow that turned into a lot of questions, should get me started... I'm in no rush to get these done (the Des Hammill book is very helpful), and it may be worth while waiting until after I get my exhaust upgraded. Oh, and I should add they're DHLA40's and I'm running a stock L28.
  2. Great, thanks for the feedback everyone.
  3. Isn't it illegal to sell/install 2nd hand seatbelts?
  4. I'll ask this here because it's about this conversion... The auto box has two hard lines that go to the radiator to cool the transmission fluid, and one that goes up to the to the manifold near the carbs. Is this third line for vacuum? I take it the manual box doesn't need this, so I'll need to block off the point on the manifold where this connected, is that right? While I'm at it, the manual gearbox doesn't require the two lines to the radiator, does it?
  5. Yeah, from the pictures, that looks like a good buy (with a bit of bargaining). edit: although that last photo, looking through the driver's door, doesn't look all that neat near the roof/sills?
  6. I believe the mod is to put a 10kOhm resister in series with the tacho connection. I have the same setup, but my tacho does not work at all yet, so I haven't had cause to try the resistor yet.
  7. You said the gearbox is sold, how about the bolts that attach the gearbox bell housing to the engine?
  8. The world's slowest auto to manual conversion continues to progress slowly... Got the prop shaft off (metric spanners helped), although not after a bit of a brain fart - I couldn't get it to turn to get to the 3rd and 4th bolts... had the car in neutral, couldn't think what was wrong - hand brake was on While I was removing the starter motor and and some of the bellhousing bolts, it also occured to me that I must have a 280zx gearbox, and will need to get some longer bolts.
  9. I'm doing a gearbox swap, so the rear suspension won't be touched. I have a rear sway bar.
  10. I'm trying do figure out the best place to put axle stands at rear of my 2+2 - would the round bars in the transverse link that run parallel to the road be suitable? They look pretty sturdy... what other options are there?
  11. There do seem to be a lot of options for rear (and front I guess) conversions - are there any resources anywhere that compare the choices, pros and cons etc?
  12. more triples - http://cgi.ebay.com.au/3x-Dellorto-40mm-carbs-used-triple-weber-solex-/320563785516?cmd=ViewItem&pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4aa3172f2c
  13. Hard to say no to that... See you Saturday?
  14. I interpreted the post as him wanting the letter 'X' to go after the 'Z' on the side of his car. Is it a sticker or painted? If you can get a reference a sticker shop should be able to make something up, surely?
  15. Thanks guys- I've emailed Paul at zbitz, waiting on a response. Peter - if he doesn't have one, I'll happily grab the one from your parts car - they're a bit of a pain to get to with the dash and wiring in the way (at least the brake pedal one was, the clutch pedal should be a bit easier I think.
  16. As per the topic - I'm in need of the bolt that holds the clutch pedal into the pedal box for my manual conversion? Anyone got a spare? Thanks, Ian
  17. Bugger... I've started the manual conversion, swapped brake pedals over, installed the clutch MC, only to realise I'm missing a bolt to hold the clutch pedal to the pedal box... can someone help me out? I'll post a thread in wanted...
  18. matching numbers 240z - http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Datsun-240z-Restoration-/320558912038?cmd=ViewItem&pt=AU_Cars&hash=item4aa2ccd226
  19. Just dropped off the flywheel to be machined and get the clutch line made up, will be ready this afternoon - depending on what the leader of the opposition's (heh I like that term) plans are, I might get around to doing (or at least starting) the conversion this weekend.
  20. seems that way... would've been a good buy edit: did you get it? I read your post as though you missed, but you never know...
  21. for those looking for a 280zx - http://cars.ozfreeonline.com/11646/Passenger-Vehicles/Datsun/Blue-280ZX.html
  22. I'll be there if it's LeMans...
  23. We were going to go there for my bucks in mid may, my mate said he was told we could use the track if we had karts, but that they weren't hiring them. That might have been temporary though
  24. I won't vote yet because I'll need command approval (the wife) to come, but LeMans is just down the road, and it'd be nice to get a look at some Z's in good nick. edit: Hasn't Ipswich Kart Hire closed?
