  1. In case non of you have noticed, Moderators on the site can remain Hidden while observing the activities of us plebs........... However, in the status field at the foot of the forum page they come up as hidden. We know its you Lurch, so from now on when you log on, we are going to start playing "WHERES LURCH" If you spot him post here..............................LMAO

  3. Correction. Sorry Simon, I didnt indicate any prices to him for his cars. I told him to consider putting prices on them and advising what he wanted for them, I did point out as an indication that a 2+2 (Sorry to the guys who love them) in registered roadworthy, if only just so, condition where a $1500 to $2500 proposition, but considering all of his were far from that, and required MAJOR work to get them anywhere near so would mean that they were worth a 1/4 that at best. With the 2 seaters, I explained that a good example in the same registered roadworthy, if only just, would fetch between $4000 - $5000, but as his have rust spots in the major areas you could put a fist through, NOT JOKING ! And that 2-3 of them had a lot of gear i.e motors panels missing or smashed not to mention a couple of them that were hit hard from accident damage, that they would be under a grand, except for the late model Silver one. As I worked for AMMI, Folwes, and Autogroup over the years, there was no missing the "fluro penned" total loss numbers on some of the screens, I gather that he picked most of them up at auction years ago in the late 90's. Back then a 2 seater would have been on par with a 2+2 and would have had an insured value of maybe $2500.00, based on the 75% write off method, the salvage reserve would have been $625.00, if they fetched that period, so some of these cars would have been picked up DIRT CHEAP at that time. I saw so many of them go through, many stolen and recovered, burnt out, or Maribyrnong river recovered swimming pools, and they just wouldnt sell. How times have changed. Cheers John
  4. +1 P.S. 100 members @ $100 a year = $10,000 income. Food for thought considering 100 paid up members would not be out of the question, that money could then be put towards facilitating a much more multi role and interactive site. Then again, maybe this thread has gone to far for all of us to collectively stomach. Cheers John
  5. Simon This has to be the most eloquent post regarding any topic posted to date, and personal thanks for the kind words. Cheers John
  6. Thanks Gav, If I am reading that correctly, it was a big spike on and around the 10th when I posted the pics and comments, and a 3:1 ratio of reads of Guests to Members. As Evan mentioned, it would be nice to have a facility to lock certian threads off to members only, I would never suggest locking the site off in totality to non members, that would defeat the purpose of a forum which is also to accomodate new potential members and participants. And Rev does make a good point also, a minimal anual fee is not beyond any serious enthusiast wanting to be part of this forum, the question is Gav would it be posible to set something up where both Evans and rev's suggestions are practical on this hosting service? I will now retreat back to my dark corner and think only evil silent thoughts for a stretch, think I have abused my average bandwidth allowance for this month........... LOL Cheers John
  7. Only joking John, sometimes all you can do is laugh Hopefully he's saving the best for you! Gareth, I aint after another "Z", spending what I will be on mine is enough as it is, so dont think that for a moment, I went down there on behalf of the forum to check them out as I was the closest apart from MagerZ, and if I wanted to have them all to myself I wouldnt have posted all the info I did in the thread, if I read what you wrote the wrong way i apologise, but just wanted to clear that up. Hey I joined 6 months ago, I spent all of 10 minutes as a guest, and I dont be-grudge anyone being a guest and taking their time to join, but it gets up my back that we all try to assist each other and when something like this comes up you have trolls taking advantage, if a guest read the posts and became a member thats cool. After I posted the pics, I spent a long time the next few days just checking the guest/member status' at the bottom of the menu, seemed there was a load of guest interest in the thread, and obviously they were gathering info. Its a public forum, everything is fair game, all Im saying is if you use this forum as a resource, then respect it join and appreciate that ppl put a lot of effort in running it, contributing to it, and generally assisting others. As far as a secret society and handshake, how about calling ourselves the Rust Cutters and when shaking hands bending the pinky into the shape of a Z and titilate the palm of the recipient? John.O.
  8. Good evening, afternoon, morning wherever, whoever or whenever you may be reading this. If you all think this is an interesting way of starting of this update, youre right, and I open with that line for good reason as you will all soon appreciate as I write further. First down to the state of play with John the Lansfield car's owner. John chased me up today to discuss the remaining cars, as you all probably know his rolling shell fetched over $1300.00 on Ebay, and the 2+2 $380.00 odd, as he admitted, DRUG MONEY for the shell to say the least and apparently purchased sight unseen, so I guess the proud owner is in for a suprise one way or another when he goes to pick it up. Now, I have to vent before going on, and this will make the opening line to this thread make a bit more sense........... IF YOU ARE A GUEST ON THIS FORUM AND NEED TIME TO GET A FEEL FOR IT AND THE MEMBERS HERE THEN THATS FINE, BUT AT LEAST RESPECT WHAT WE AS MEMBERS AGREE TOO WHEN DEALING WITH A SELLER SUCH AS JOHN AND TOW THE LINE ! John explained to me that he had an open day last Wednesday where some 40 ppl turned up to look at the cars. After recieving a call on the hour every hour after my initial post, he decided to tell all the callers to come down the same day and from what I can guage they read about it here but wernt forum members ! What Im getting at here is that if you come here to troll as a guest and then undermine what the general concensus is amongst the members, then (CENSORED) off ! This is my opinion, not that of any other member nor moderator, just mine ! Become a member, and contribute both socially and financially, dont hide in the shadows gathering info. Back to Johns discussion with me this evening........... John will get back to me shortly regarding the remaining cars, but I wont be posting any more info about the cars nor discussions pricing etc from here on in, when I do get some info I will just post a one worder being *UPDATE* and if any MEMBER wants to know more you can PM me. Once again, to all the bonefied members, always a pleasure to hear from you all, be it good bad or indifferent, to the "Troll Guests", not to be confused with the causal Guests considering joining, if you want to have a verbal written go at what I have written, go ahead, join and post ! Cheers John
  9. In the 80's I helped shove a 350 Chev into a triumph stag, verrrrrrrrrrrry tight fit, it then developed overheating problems, we put in a 4 core rad and then installed an expansion tank out of a Camira sealing the entire system, filling was via the Camira expansion tank, solved the problem.
  10. Brab In case loui cant help you. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Datsun-240z-260z-Rust-Repair-Panels_W0QQitemZ290380668051QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAU_Car_Parts_Accessories?hash=item439c095c93 Cheers John
  11. No problems, Thought Id just mention it as it wasnt a problem this end when he hit it and might have saved you some work, but then you aint doing it, so no matter, good that the lacky apprentice gets his hands dirty........LOL
  12. Cool, Sorry to be a know it all, and I should have known better than to think you wouldnt have thought it thru, apologies Buddy. When they blasted mine, the garnite took the underbody deadener off very easily, dont think you need worry there seriously. Even my engine bay which was layed thick with stoneguard just flew off. Cheers John
  13. P.S. This is our new Hybrid Taco, it's a cross between a Taco and a Hot Dog, very popular with the Broardie community.
  14. If youre after a "Taco" I own a drive thru in Broadmeadows, drop by anytime, it will be on the house.
  15. Aj Kurumba Loui ! Cant believe you didnt brace the internals while doing that to keep it all in square considering the hole in the turret, no rails, no pans etc etc etc while hanging on the rotiesse ........ If she's all still square I take my hat off to you ! Can I make a suggestion though, may sound stupid, but maybe hang position and lock the doors in place before you finish the rails off, its amazing how much movement may occur which will cause you grief later, at least that way you can manipulate the shell before its all butted up to make sure the sill and slam pillar gaps are correct. Sorry to be a pesamist Bro....... Cheers John
  16. Very nice work ! Not sure about the welded in over-ridders but the rest looks great.
  17. Sco No one is treating him like a God ! As a matter of fact, and he will probably read this as he does scan this forum, Im sure that the majority of ppl here hold him in contempt for the state of his Zed's. But then you have to appreciate that he is the owner and if he wishes to send them to hell in a basket, thats his choice, John the owner, obviously loves these cars as they make up the greatest number in his stable, and I dont doubt that for a moment, however they are what they are and as members here we are trying to save them if he decides to part with them. Im sure every person on this forum has neglected a possesion to the point where we have later hated ourselves for letting it happen, and Im sure that he is feeling the same way about his cars. Im not having a go at you Sco, so dont take it that way, but dont think for a moment we are all ready to crawl over broken glass to appease him either, this is a crying shame, so lets just try and make the best out of a bad situation if we can. Cheers John
  18. Dont think I am Gav, I have 2 freinds who have become excited about my car and are now looking at getting into Zed's, so as the buyer market increases, and supply deminishes, you know what will happen. And the Zed's are no passing fad for the simple fact that they are a good looking performaning period coupe from the 70's jus like any of the Aussie Torana's Ford coupes or Charges this country produced. I will be pushing for Shannons to insure mine for $75K when Im finished, you may all laugh but Im serious. Cheers John
  19. Loui, Today is one month since your last update, think its time you show us how the "Chickens" basting is going in the oven !
  20. Hmmmmmmmmmmm, Welcome and congratulations, now the agony and ecstasy begins ! And considering your excitement, as Dr Evil would say....... "Why dont uewwww and the Zeddddddddd get a roommmmm" LOL Hey congrats again.
  21. Sorry Mike I didnt take any pics or take down any details of them. Cheers John
  22. Dont worry Mick We will share the love with you Tasmanians who learnt how to swim also, Im sure. LOL...........John
  23. Appreciated, But credit to you also for bringing this guy to our attention to start with. To be honest, I can understand John must have a love for all his cars, as we all do for ours, but in fairness he would be better off keeping what he wants and giving the remainder to good homes that will bring them back from the brink. It would be a shame for them to go to hell in a basket, as he said to me, he would be 450 years old before he could ever restore them all while there are enthuisiasts here that would lovingly nurse them back to the fold. Lets hope he comes back to me with some reasonable prices. Cheers John
  24. So, I presume you all found the info helpful? You ungrateful lot !.............. A "Thankyou John Mr Sirpent Sir" would have been nice............LMAO
