Get it re-vacuum covered by the Dash Doctor. All 260Z dash's are the same, no difference between a 2 seater and a 2+2, that goes for all structual, equipment and features from the firewall forward.

This is tragic, However looks like the Pacific ring of fire which stretches from the South Pole via NZ all the way up throuh Japan etc is very active which means one thing, the Australasian or Pacific plate is on the move, if the Hawaian Islands flair up with new volcanic activity then the tip of the pacific plate is likely to see the next activity as it pushes up against the Atlantic plate, that tip is California, and the San Andrea fault line is the boundary. Id be worried if I was in that part of the world in the coming months.

OK, From what you described without actually seeing it it sounds like VERY poor surface prep before the material was laid down. To use an analogy as far as surface prep, imagine freshly painted or polished paint work and then pouring water on it, the water beads and then accumulates, as you put it then streams. Now imagine very dull oxidised paintwork which hasn't been polished for years, water sprayed on it in the same manner develops a film more or less evenly across the surface. Unless a surface is properly prepped, the same effects will occur, whats happened in your case is that the sprayed material has failed to bond to the surface, as the solvents evaporate leaving only the material they contract and a grazing as you put it effect occurs, these are actually fractures in the non binding area's. The only way to remedy this if I am correct is to take back all the sprayed material and start again. As far as 2K etch primer, this is only used on bare metal, I cant see why it would have been used in this case so I'm unsure what you and Salty are referring to. Any 2K product properly cured shouldn't present a problem if you are using acrylic products over the top as long as high concentrations of solvents aren't immediately applied resulting in destabilisation and solvent burn. I agree with you totally, but my post wasnt a means of trying to ramp up recognition for myself if that was what you were reffering to. Thanks REV, Im sitting here doing NUDDA anyway, and I figure when the time comes I will have 2 options if I dont do this now, do it then and hold things up even longer or just dump it all back in and then hate myself for cutting corners, One thing Im doing is keeping an account of all of this in pics, that way when i insure it and something happens, the photos are there to prove whats the cars worth. Hi Crew Just a few small updates............. "Das Drehkraftmonster RS32 AMG" have had confirmation from the shipping company that my supplier has cleaned and bundled everything up to their requirements, pick up will be in the next few days and they seem to think I shouldn't have any drama's with Australian Customs or Quarantine services once it lands. Chassis engineering Paul emailed me advising that he has been on the phone to the authorities with a number of questions regarding the build, they wanted the full emissions complied with as per a C32 Benz apparently, he counter argued with them and apparently won the argument, he is still to fully brief me but apparently I will be able to dump any emissions gear off the C32 that I ca, apart from the Cat's I'm not sure what else there would be that wouldn't interfere with the engines proper function, guess its one of those things I will suck and see. Refurbishments. Having overhauled the Weber's, and not wanting to do anymore body wise till this engine chassis deal is underway or done, I decided that I should start refurbishing some of the things I'm planning to put back into the car, so I stripped down the entire Heater / AC assy last night and spent a good part of the night and this afternoon refurbishing it. The Heater core and AC core where in surprisingly good nic, the AC core just needed a de-greasing and came up trumps, the heater core seems good but I wont be risking anything and will replace it as a precaution. Cleaned all the housings which were putrid, almost every bracket was partially rusted, the galv on these parts from the factory was simply useless, so all were stripped back to bare metal undercoated and enameled black. Cleaned and checked all the electrical looms, valves etc and all was good, the only other part that needs to be replaced is the heater valve and associated heater hose, the valve or "C0CK" as its known shows signs of slight leakage at the rubber valve seat and seal, I wont take any chances and will try and hunt one down. TIP: Before stripping one of these units down, take photo's, I got stuck a few times looking at a part trying to figure out what the F*CK ! So as soon as this is done vacuum packed and stored away, its the dash assy next. Cheers John

Well done David ! If you hadn't come up with a solution I was going to suggest a Ford Probe Clutch cylinder, very short and totally encapsulated deriving it's fluid from a remote reservoir source, in the Probes case it's the Brake Master fluid reservoir. But again your work is as impressive as ever, cant imagine what pleasures I will be faced with when I eventually start toiling with mine. Cheers John
