I would have to agree that making your own carpet is probably the best solution. What I have done in the past is buy the carpet from a trimmer, cut it to the size/shape I want, then take it to the trimmer with where I want it sewn together and where I wanted it edged... Honestly, probably only marginally cheaper then if I had the trimmer do the whole lot, but I end up with a result that I am happy with as I am a perfectionist

Please tell me your going to remove the linkage shaft and run a cable...

Thanks guys. I need to pass her on relatively soon as things are a little tight. I will chat to the new owner and hopefully continue to chat to them into the future. THREAD UPDATED!!! It has remote central locking and an insurance approved alarm with multi stage imobiliser...

Cheers Chris, not planning on taking a hiatis from the site. I have been asked by a member to do some work on his zed for him and hopefully he'll let me post about that... I love working on old cars - but I really long to finish the project I started with my late father, having two registered 70s cars doesnt help that... Oh and your right, women always win
-
yeah I am planning on adding a zed project... Watch out for something when my car sells.
-
i've moved out and dont have access to my workshop like I am used to having. I also am doing lots of km's at the moment which is not good for the old girl, though it has shown her reliability Lastly, I will be needing the extra seats soon and the misses wants a new 'safe' car... I dont want to keep it on the side and not be able to look after the zed like it deserves.

Just moved out of home and therefore will not have access to my glorious workshop as much as I need to keep the zed in spiffy nick. I am also doing lots of work travel and it is a shame to run so many km's on the zed... The good side for the new buyer is that because I have driven it so much, I have found all the niggles and fixed them. That and family planning has made me need a bigger more comfortable car... I will be on the look out for a project zed, as I love working on them - such a nice car...
-
Thanks for that Pauly! Well the aircon/heater unit is installed, plumbed and electrified!!! I had such lovely warm legs, hands and face this morning... An added bonus was the vision! I could see as the fogged windscreen cleared!!!! I havent got the condensor or the pump for the ac yet, but the under dash unit and the electronis thermostat is all done - just need to buy and put together... Bad news: I have had a change in my circumstance and am therefore selling the zed... I will put together an add for the forsale section tonight. Please call me on oh4oh4 eight6seven six3seven if your interested.

aahahahahaha... mine would kill me... Interesting way of figuring it out though
-
www.speedyairsales.com.au I think I will modify the tap though as the cable is meant to be wound around the lever to open and close the tap. I plan on tapping the lever so I can clamp the cable on... pretty cheap from memory - about $22...
-
dry weight is around 4 kgs... thats not including the ducting, which weighs bugger all and the heater hoses...
-
yeah its an r200... It was already in the car but was extremely worn... Had a mechanic friend of mine rebuild it.
-
Oh yeah, thats the reason for a new heater and air con.... will make it like a new car
-
oh yeah. if your free on sunday, feel free to come down and have a lookie
-
Have to have a look at that mag... There is an awesome 240z in Performance Imports with a SR20 in it I'll try to scan tomorrow and post it.

Well, I have been stupidly busy with work over the past month and therefore haven't been really on the ball with my zed... I have just redone my diff centre, it is a lsd centre now Heaps of grip now and I dont have any wheel spin issues when I come on boost. I will complete my heater/aircon install on Sunday and will post pics of what it comes out like. It has a 3 speed fan, electronic themostat and new heater tap. It is a tight squeeze under the dash, and at this stage I will not have any centre vents, but the demister vents and side vents will work. The unfortunate aspect of a afternmarket system is that I will not have any of the vent controls a standard unit does, the plus side - its all new and will provide long term heat and cool without dramas... I will hopefully put together a bit of DIY regarding the install - new heater/aircon unit part (ex any under bonnet gear) will cost less then $350 delivered if the parts cost remain the same.
-
I was looking at doing this when I redid my pipe work. To do it as you say, would be better, but its a lot harder to do, and when the car is moving doesnt make that big of an impact. I can quite comfortably touch my inlet pipe out of the cooler that is directly behind my radiator.

+1 for the Oxley Highway... Just did it, even though it was flood damaged, still was an awesome strech of road - switch backs for over an hour.... The putty road - about 50km of switch backs on perfect road (hotmix black top) Waterfall way - road from Coffs Harbour to Dorrigo and Armidale. Nice part about these roads is because the corners are SO tight, you can be going very hard without breaking the 80km/hr speed limit and having heaps of fun Putty road is awesome at 8pm at night - minus the roos - because I didnt have one car in front or behind me for 160km.
-
Well, I made it back! Another 800km! So almost 2000km in 3 days! I left Coffs, drove over to Armidale via Waterfall Way (has some decent sections but pretty bumpy), then down the New England Highway to Muswellbrook and Singleton.... THE PUTTY ROAD!!!!!!!!!! OMG, everytime I have driven this road I have had passengers, not this time... Being 9pm at night there was NO traffic, so I let loose the turbo, lit the tyres and zoomed into oblivion.... Well, until 40km along the 170km long road it fogged up and started torrential rain... That bit sucked... Nevertheless, I love the zed for its reliability, fun factor and ability to give my spine a thorough pain that hasnt gone away a day later....
-
Ah, that person probably was me...
-
I'd be interested in diner more than a cruise, i drive lots and would rather chat to people about driving than driving itself... I like chatting round the cars, or eating near them so we can show each other stuff when we want to...
-
The other problem with doing a RB30/25or26 is because they never came out in a factory car they never had an emissions test done on them, so its harder for engineers to state they comply with the standards of the year of manufacture Of course, owning a 73 this doesnt matter for me as according to my engineer, any engine that is fuel injected would pass the tests for that year... Hows it coming along Peter?

I should be in for it...
