I'll have to look for the magazine then. Mind you, it wouldn't be the first time Wheels got something wrong. Calling the P76 car of the year for one... The Ken-Mary shape seems to be getting a bit of attention these days: http://speedhunters.com/archive/2010/03/02/gallery-gt-gt-the-best-of-ken-amp-mary.aspx
  2. Tell me specifically what you want and if I find it I'll give you a price. Don't expect them to be cheap tho'

dear me, I need to raise my obsessive level for this forum
  4. I am about to start buying stock for a container of used wheels from Japan. If you want anything specific PM me. I expect the container to arrive around July/August.

Read it in a 1973 Wheels magazine that they would only be available in Auto. Where does your information come from?

According to what I've read all of the 240K 2-doors sold in Australia were auto. I've seen manuals but they had been converted.
  8. Yep. ultimate powercruise car
  9. I had a look at the Sydney Powercruise yesterday and spotted this 260Z. I felt like I had just zapped back to 1985. Check out the Neales wheels and balloon tyres. The wing and the bonnet scoop are a bit upsetting and of course it's a V8.

Getting started on the bodywork now for the Feb 74 car which was already stripped. Plenty of minor rust repairs, but not as much as I had to do on the zed. I put the replica GTR grille on to give me some inspiration. The black front panel is a Restored fibreglass piece which fits perfectly and saved me from trying to find a replacement somewhere.
  11. I had Ausplasfab cut a 4.5mm perspex window for my Zed. It is not as light as the 2mm stuff but still much lighter than glass and importantly it is so close to the original glass thickness that it is held in by the factory rubber (no screws). Most people don't even notice it. So far no problem with scratching etc.
  12. It's an OER kit, which I can supply new for $2300, see this thread: http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,4073.0.html The kit on my car I actually bought second-hand on Yahoo Japan, but you don't see them often
  13. Had a problem with my L28 distributor getting all loose and dodgy, so I'm fitting a Kameari item which runs a proper internal crank angle sensor and twin ball-bearings, plus a lot bigger cap with better quality bits. I'm also getting that re-tune I've been planning on since day one, to coax a bit more anger out of the L32.

    Rota Wheels

Offset is good at the rear, at the front you need only a 3mm spacer or nothing with coilovers. The wheel actually clears at the front without a spacer but unless your tyres are very stretched they may foul the spring seat. No I don't do one-off orders because Rota take forever to do them.
  15. Yikes, that's not a happy picture. I didn't find the Longchamp Replicas, but I do have some crazy deep-dish wheels coming in soon in 14x6 +10 and 14x8 -5, more for Corollas really, but could suit some Zeds

    rear tow points

I just got some generic tow loops from Revolution racegear. The rear one I bent and fitted to the bumper bolt, with a piece of plate to stop it bending and hitting the bumper when towed. At the front I just extended it with a bit of plate steel so it could move around a bit, but if I get towed out of a sand-trap from the front my spoiler will probably get ripped off anyway :-\
  17. I hear there's a factory in China making SSR Longchamp replicas, haven't found it yet though
  18. http://hebcf.en.alibaba.com/search/product?IndexArea=product_en&SearchText=alloy%20wheel%20japanese Trolling around I spotted this Chinese manufacturer selling 280ZX copy wheels (both designs) unfortunately the minimum order is 400 wheels...
  19. Couple of pics with the wheels back on...
  20. Got your email today. Reply sent.
  21. See page 11 of this thread for my brake upgrade. Cost about $2500 in parts. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,2043.150.html

    Rota Wheels

Thanks Steve. They are a nice fit at that ride height
  23. Thanks for the tip. At this stage I'm just using whatever they came with. I prefer to keep a relatively low-temp pad in the car, as with my last Zed the high temp pads never really got hot enough to work well (it had huge discs) and when cold they were useless.
  24. finally is the master cylinder. I got a 15/16 master from SWR which apparently is off a Nissan van (Urvan?). It comes with tiny reservoirs for a remote set-up, but the 240Z ones can be clamped on instead. Surprisingly there is still a fair amount of pedal travel, but it can't be pushed to the floor even when very hot. So far I have not had the rear brakes lock up so I don't think I'll need a bias adjuster, but I've yet to take it to a race track so we'll see. Can't be any worse than the original drums, which put me into a spin at 130km/h going into turn 2 at Wakefield. On the road the new set up is very impressive. You can brake much harder and there is absolutely zero fade even after a long, winding hill descent at speed.
  25. Rear brake kit came from Motorsport Auto. I really don't think you need multi-piston brakes on the back of a Zed and I like that this kit lets you keep the cable handbrake rather than the line-locker arrangement some kits use. There was a bit of work in modifying the bottom of the handbrake lever to get the right travel, but the end result is good. The calipers are off a Maxima apparently.
