  1. at one of the silvia forums, you get ads if you are a guest and LESS ads if you are a registered user.. we wouldnt have quite as much guest traffic as a silvia forum, but if you changed it to ads for non contributing, and LESS ads for the contributers, that would give you a small revenue boost in the advertising space, but then a secondary boost from epople signing up as a "paying" or contributing member to lessen the number of ads. just a thought

sorry zedman, got my usernames confused, zedhead26 said he had oe for sale as well. so, if zedhead26 could pull it apart and perform the appriopriate measurements.... And no worries about the thread hijack, puts as much of the info in front of the next people (assuming they use the search feature )
  5. dont think there is much call for that mr240z. member of the forum from sydney can post on a sydney meet, hey a member from WA can post on a sydney meet, whether they are coming or not. I for one will probably be around pie in the sky on that day (we are most weekends) They bake the good pies around 12:30, so the really good pickings are from about then thru til 2:30pm (darn tasty pies) if i see you all there, I will come say hello, but my beastie is in pieces int he garage still, so you wont recognise me that way.
  6. by the way i read the post, the $8500 was for the LS1 conversion bits in a package, and the discussion of selling the WHOLE car came up after that price was posted... i think

amazing how fast it can get complicated huh. (for those who search in future)(correct me if i have misread something) so for cars where a long nose R200 open diff is standard - a longnose R200 LSD will fit, but the stub axles need to be swapped from right to left, no extra parts. - An R180 LSD will fit, but new custom stub axles need to be bought, which are around the traps if you look - An R200 diff centre can be bought, but bolt sizing on the crown wheel could be an issue (fixable) and the buyer MUST get a centre with the coffect number of splines, and the only way to find this out is to count them on your diff. zedman26, can you have a look inside your diff? find out the ratio for me? if its 3.9 i will take it off your hands. Cheers Dave

so the r180 overall length is the same as a longnose R200 as well? if the answer tot he above is "yes" how does one determine the ratio of a diff? (so i can get zedhead26's diff of of him)

correct me if im wrong 620z, but a r180 doesnt bolt straight in does it? the R200 is the bolt in option. I have no idea what the prices are supposed to be like, i assumed similar to the LSD prices we just paid for a subaru brumby project, and i was mistaken. I saw the 2 off evil-bay and came to my local friendly zed community to find out if i was about to be ripped off...

that was my thought, im sure there is discussion on here on the preferred way to go, but fomr someone like me a bolt in unit seems to be the way to do it...

Hello all, Looking for a longnose R200, 3.9 ratio preferrable, LSD. can anyone help me?
  12. Sent you SMS
  13. hey datpilot will you let go of that rb25 unit to me?
  14. NZeder how did you go with these? were the compact actuators strong enough to push the linkages around?
  15. note, if you dont want to run a heavy duty switch, for whatever reason, run the wiring as per the diagram, but replace the switch with a relay, and then run the triggern wires tot he switch, cuts the load ont he switch down tremendously. I did this to cut the fuel pump power as an added "kill switch" and it works perfectly and no need for thick wires/ chunky switches
  16. I had an issue like this with a BMW a while back. idle control valve (couldnt get its act together) for when the alternator or a/c was running, cold start vs normal running, "catching" idle after driving etc etc. I cant remember if we fixed it with programming or replacing the idel control valve, but its worth a shot that is if you meant that kind of surging...
  17. It is a l28, bored to 2.9L efi turbo set up running GT28/?? (we dont know the last section) throttle body change3 is simply to get the cable to "pull" as opposed to "push" using the original rod setup (which i dont have and never have had in the car (go figure)) so if you look in the engine bay of a silvia, or a skyline, you find the throttlebody with the "ring" the cable wraps around, so as it can pull. Thats what im after.
  18. not VHT. I dont know the brand but it wasnt VHT. I also got a dud and have steered clear ever since. The paint is not tacky like,,,, not 100% dry sort of feeling its a bit different, like wow that is so clean my finger cant move smoothly over it. i figured a really light sand would do the trick, but then again i dont want to ruin my rolls royce spray job!
  19. - sanded back with 1200 grit - rubbed back with steel wool - 2 coats etch primer - 3 coats hi-temp charcoal aluminium - 3 coats gloss clear I assume its enamel, it came from a spray can... but man is it the rolls royce of spray cans.
  20. ok cool price, photo and a bit more info on "a biot more work to make it fit" then we will be cooking with the proverbial gas
  21. Hey All, I have painted my rocker cover a nice chinny gunmetal its looks fantastic but is a might... sticky, not like wet paint not dried sticky, like... so shiny its not smooth sticky what is the final step? do you sand? wash? spray with something else? expose to heat? stare at it really hard...? pic to come when my email stops crashing...
  22. Can I get a pic of the XF throttle body? also could you measure its diameter and I know its a stupid question, but I assume these bolt to the original holes on the manifold?
  23. Welcome Matt, Lynton I could nto agree with you more re the s15, I sold one of those to buy my zed but I live in sydney so the temps are not QUITE as bad.
