  1. I will give you a call tomorrow ZFactory. Cheers for the heads up
  2. Today i got my 260Z (2 seater) back from my mechanic, and drove her for the first time, shes the one in my avatar. To drive her I had to get a temporary rego from VicRoads, which was easier than I expected, $40 for 7 days. The only anoying thing is that she is soooo loud due to two hotdogs, and as a future daily driver this will have to change. Also to get a road worthy I would have to change the exhaust system any way. Everthing else was fantastic, suspension, handling, performance, braking and gear change (Auto). My next big step is getting her prepped for paint which includes rust repair (mostly surface). I'm keepng her white so it wont be a total strip down. So anyway I'm on a Z high! I'm pretty sure it's not the fumes talking!
  3. G'day Mango and welcome.

    L26 rebuild

Isn't there an issue of fuel lines/pump(s)/surge tank. Also you might want to think about an electronic distributer for greater precision throughout the rev range.
  5. Could you source a longer cable?
  6. Well I removed it today. Taking out the window was good advise, and easy too. Removing the weatherstripping from the inside out with bare hands also worked, but revealed that adhesive was used in the installation. So now I need to work out what type of glue is appropriate before I do the install. It looks to be quite rubbery like a silicone type of joby.
  7. Thank you, this is the practical advise that I was looking for. Yeah the quarter window itself is real easy to remove and will make taking off the weather stripping so much easier, cheers. From the inside out you say? Good luck, and let me know how it goes.
  8. G'day, just after a little bit of advise on how to remove the quarter window weather stripping from one Z and installing it into another. Below I have attached two images, the first is the donor and the second is the recipient. There are two parts I am interested in transferring, one being the vertical piece on the door frame and the second being the rubber bit (technical term apparently) that goes around the quarter window. The vertical piece looks easy enough, just unscrew and then screw on. The rubber bit is what I am really concerned with. Car I just lever it off with something, you know, like a lever? On a side note, after looking a these pics (which were taken using a flash) it's amazing how dirty my car is and how faded my seat belts are. Is there a good technique for seatbelt removal and dying?
  9. Hmmm, I think I may have done that a few times then. Thanx for the clarification.
  10. This could be it or it could be just orange.
  11. ^^ I kind of guessed that but I don't know how to do the whole torrents thing and am quite happy to watch via Youtube.
  12. youtube now has episodes 5 and 6 (subed) uploaded, here is a link to ep5 part 1 of 3. For the rest just click "more from this user (00james7) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Ebuu1T91Go
  13. Apparently when you wind the window down, it creates a difference of pressure in the cabin causing the fumes that hang around the back of the Z (Due to aerodynamics) to be drawn/sucked in. Suggested ways of dealing with this problem are as stated above (Seal holes in shell/exhaust system). You could also extend the tip of your exhaust or have it exiting the side of your Z. It has also been suggested that rear spoilers and louvers may disrupt the aerodynamics enough to alleviate this phenomena. One last idea (that should read Crazy) is to wear a full face helmet with a clean air induction unit mounted to it,...You would look HARDCORE! \m/
  14. ^^^Thats exactly what I want to do with my badging! I also like the black striping, very 70's and in keeping with Z styling. PS how long dose it take you to polish your wheels?
  15. OK this is what I meant. I hope I haven't offended any one by using their images.
  16. ^Agreed, the second one is almost there. I would have the pic of the Z from the front rather than the back and would make the front overlap the wreath to make it look like the car is passing through the wreath.
  17. Question: Would it be "wrong" to re badge an Australian Z with Fairlady badges? I'm not passing judgment on any one that has done it, because frankly I like it. For me it's like tipping your hat to the cars heritage. It's not like I'm suggesting you badge a 260 two seater as a 240, but instead of using the 240/260Z badge you use the Fairlady Z badge.
  18. Awesome, another import south of the border! And congratulations on your fantastic taste in cars! I have no idea about numbers.
  19. Is the classic "Z" design that is used on official car badges copywrited? I ask this coz I would like to see it used in a bold manner as in,....ausZcar
  20. I'm not sure about the emphasis of having an image of a Z on the sticker logo, after all the sticker will be on an actual Z So if any one was uncertain as to what a Z looked like then they need look no further than the car it is stuck to. I like Vans use of the word Embracing, subconsciously it points at the cars racing heritage and an owners pride in this. As a border I like the use of a laurel wreath. Might have a go at something later.
  21. Rust...I'm just glad to live in a country where salt isn't poured all over the roads and big ugly bumpers aren't the norm. Sydney has a higher annual rainfall than Melbourne, but only just. Also the humidity is different.
  22. Your stats look about right from a sellers listing but I couldn't tell you if this is true for actual sales. When I get to the stage of registering my 2 seater I will look at selling my 2+2. I will probably change a dented panel/respray it and move her on. For that I would probably be asking $6500, but would probably be willing to negotiate.
  23. Good luck with your new Z, at least you are closer to allZparts than most of us Victorians. So you picked her up in Geelong? I just missed out on a 260 from a wrecker in Benalla, so I thought you were going to say benalla not Geelong.
  24. I think your new spoiler will work being black so long as there are other black pieces of trim for it to work with, otherwise it may look out of place.
  25. One other thing might be to check the wiring coming from the alternator to the battery. This may not be the initial cause of your problem but it wouldn't help if you are loosing charge between your alt and battery. Also the wiring is cheaper than the alt to fix/repair.
