  1. Well the entries are in and we have 15 confirmed starters for our Z only Regularity event, this includes Grp Sc runners James Flett, Chris Gray and Russell Stanford. The Z events will be run on Saturday the 7th with practice in the morning and 3 events being run during the afternoon. A number of the Z's will also run on the Sunday being incorporated into either the normal Regularity fields or the Historic Sports and Touring car races. We will be housed together on the pit apron and anyone is welcome to come and say hi. Who knows, we may even see a certain yellow 240 that is about to return to the road after a long absence!! As well as the Z regularity events, there are also races for an Alfa challenge, Historic Sports and Touring cars, Historic Racing cars, Excel challenge and other Regularity events. Hope to see you there:)
  2. Just updated the post with some more info re stolen equipment. Thanks, Geoff
  3. Thanks Jason, Trying to get further info from the owner, will post when available. Geoff
  4. I am posting this for a friend who has had his 240Z stolen overnight (23/24 November), from a private garage in Beecroft in Sydney. The car was only left there yesterday for safe keeping! while the owner is moving house. It is red in colour, Rego. ZED003 and is fitted with a cage. It has a 2.8 motor with triples and was on a galvanised/silver Tiltatray trailer No. Y68238 If anyone sees the car and/or trailer or is offered any parts for sale please contact Gordon on 0427889817 and/or the Police. PICS of car attached. Note the front spoiler is now black. Further info: there were two sets of Performance wheels 7 x 15. Road wheels fitted with 225.50 x 15 Falken tyres and a spare set fitted with 225.50 x 15 Toyo R888 semi slicks. Carbs are 45mm Webbers and also in the car was a race suit and boots (brand unknown), New Stihlo helmet with Hans device and two older Stihlo helmets GEOFF
  5. For those who may be interested the FOSC calendar for 2014 is as follows; April 5 and 6 two day meeting at Wakefield Park, Goulburn June 8 one day meeting SMSP South Circuit, Eastern Creek August 3 one day meeting SMSP South Circuit November 16 one day meeting SMSP South Circuit
  6. James and Stewart are already across it and even with 13 starters FOSC are giving us our own Z only events. This was a bit short notice for some but hopefully by the time of the meeting we may have a few more starters or at least generate some interest for next year if all goes well.
  7. On the 7 and 8 December the Festival of Sporting Cars (FOSC) is running a two day event at Sydney Motorsport Park (Eastern Creek) on the South Circuit. As part of the meeting they will be running a number of Z only Regularity events over the two days and at the present time we have about 13 confirmed starters with 2 or 3 more possibles. I know this is not racing, and that some people in Qld may look down their noses , but in NSW we take any opportunity to give our Z's a run without getting into the semantics of whether an Sc car or a 'hot rod' is quicker. We will probably have both and still have a lot of fun and we appreciate the FOSC organisation giving us this opportunity to showcase the marque. If there is sufficient support there is a possibility of running a challenge over the four FOSC meetings scheduled for 2014. Imagine the kudos of having the most regular Z in NSW! If anyone in NSW is interested make a note of the dates and come along for a look and say g'day!
  8. Bathurst 2009, I think you will find it is James Flett in his very quick 260. He has just built the motor for Adams 'Brown Hornet'.
  9. Hi Peter, On my early 260 pulling the stalk back and releasing it changes between high and low beam. On the 260 (not sure about the 240) there is a little button at the end of the stalk which you push to flash the lights.
  10. Thanks for clarifying RB, I was getting a bit confused but then again that's not hard to do!!
  11. Hi RB, Without trying to hijack Adams' thread. What hose are you referring to as stepping down in size. The bottom one from the block is the original pipe and the top one is the size to suit the outlet from the top of the rocker cover and the inlet on the catch can. Yes mesh inside the can and no smell.
  12. I am a bit puzzled by the third outlet at the bottom of the can. My can has the two attachments on the side and a drain plug at the bottom. I was able to use the original pipe that ran from the engine block to the old manifold, by simply twisting it around it fitted straight on to the lower pipe fitting on my can, while I ran a pipe from the rocker cover to the top attachment. Luckily my can had two threaded lugs on one side which allowed me to simply attach the can to the inner guard just back from the radiator. The pics are a bit cramped but you should get the idea
  13. You should have two pipe fittings in the side of the catch can as well as a drain plug in the bottom. You run a line from the engine block breather (on the left hand side of the block towards the front under the exhaust manifold) to the lower fitting on the catch can and run the other pipe from the rocker cover outlet to the upper catch can fitting.
  14. Hi Peter, On my 74 260Z pushing the washer button wets the screen and activates the wipers for a cycle. Geoff
  15. I ran a pair of HIF6 SU's on my 2.8 motor for quite a while and had no problems at all. Needles were easy to come by and they stayed in tune quite well.
  16. Hi Lach, No offence taken, I was only having a bit of a dig!! PM sent. Regards, Geoff
  17. Hey Lurch, Everything you said was fine except where you generalise about Z owners with grey hair not wanting to see other Nissan Datsun models. You young blokes don't have a mortgage on liking other models apart from the Z and I think you will find that quite a few 'grey haired' Z owners would like to see the whole range of Nissan/Datsuns on display (As there was in 2005). Cheers Geoff
  18. Hi Tom, Your 2.55 was indeed a great time, but I think you will find that Greg Redman from Newcastle in his reg 74 260 did a 2.52 in practice last year before it rained. Regards, Geoff
  19. I can't say I blame you. If I had entered the 6 hour Reg relay I probably would have done the same!
  20. It's a shame to see that the 6 hour relay has been changed, it seems as though it's possibly a combination of CAMS intervening and Charles having to include the Porsches to offset the cost of the meeting. Unfortunately, despite their best intentions, I think FOSC may suffer as a result as it will leave a lot of people feeling they aren't getting what they paid for and wary of entering next year. As for the Fri/Sat/Sun, for which I am entered, from what I can see when compared to last year in Regularity I am still doing the same amount of races, 4 plus qualifying. Last year I had a 6 and 7 lap event on Sat and 2 x 3 lap on Sunday (19 laps). I was lapping around 3 mins or just under, so this year all being well, I believe I should get more laps, with 1 x 20min and 2 x 25min events on Sat and 1 x 30min on Sunday. This is all on the proviso that it doesn't rain and there aren't a lot of stoppages due to some drivers getting too carried away and binning it. Time will tell!!
  21. Well five cars (9 people) from Sydney drove down to Jindabyne on Friday and had a great weekend. Saturday we drove to Thredbo and then along the Khancoban Road to the Murray 2 Power Station and back. Sunday we left Jindabyne mid morning and drove to Dalgety to meet some friends at the pub and temporarily swelled the population to over 80 people! Shame the Canberra guys couldn't make it, maybe next year! Geoff
  22. Try Stewart Wilkins at SWMotorsport, at Mulgrave in Sydney (02 45772400) he may be able to assist.
  23. Take care and watch out for the bikes! The Ducati Tourismo is on this week with several hundred Ducatis touring!! around the Apple Isle (of Man!)

    rear tow points

Maybe something like this which seems to bolt to the rear tow points. http://www.zccjdm.com/catalog.php/azcarbum/ct/pd1761636/240Z_SCCA_LEGAL_2__FRONT__REAR_TOW_BRACKET_KIT_
  25. Using Google to translate the site it seems to suggest that the chap in the light coloured jumper is Franck Danse who used to be in the Datsun support crew for the Monte and figures in some of the earlier pics. It mentions that he restored the 240 but doesn't indicate if it is a works car and I suspect not. It also seems to suggest that the Cedrics had 240Z motors from 1972 rally cars.
