Had a look at it yesterday - it has severe hail damage but it is all there. Could be a good base for someone. You will probably need a new bonnet because of the extent of the hail damage.
choke and throttle knobs are pretty stuffed, so I'll have to buy reproduction. I searched for the choke surround garnish but didn't find one - if you have any links I sure would appreciate it. Thankfully my console is as new!
Started with some minor work today. Returned the rear tail light garnishes to a deep metallic gunmetal rather than the red they were painted. polished the rear lights and reassembled - looks way better!
Sorry John, I don't have the horn assembly, but I'll keep my eye out for you!
Peter.T - yes! piece by lovely piece!! - no, just getting rid of a few surplus parts!
Time for an update! Just moved house and moved the Zed into it's new home! Can't believe how nice it is to not only have a workshop again but also the beginnings of a spacious mancave. Got to work getting the motor running today, probably need to rekit the carbs after sitting so long, but did get it to idle more consistently. Began to remove all the factory sound deadening and found a couple of small repairs in the floors where they meet the tunnel. No big surprises yet, hopefully it will stay that way! I've put a post up about some parts I need so if you have any leads let me know. Next on the to do - weld in replacement sections in the floor, then begin on new interior! ETA to get it on the road...end of March.
Cheers Rev
trying to collect a few parts for the build! Still in need of 240z seats and rails, 240z airbox, any parts for the series 1 console (choke surround, fuse cover, etc) knobs for the heater controls - appreciate any help you can give!
thanks,
Rev
Hey Tim,
They do break with age. There is a flat fork type tool to pry them out but honestly snap them off and start fresh. You can get them on eBay and I'm sure I bought some at either auto Pro, Repco or super cheap - let me know if you have a hassle, I might have some here.
Cheers,
Rev
I get a spark and then the alarm 'chirps' and cuts out the spark. I've got the remote which arms it and disarms it and it seems to make the right noises until you go to start it and then it seems to override, almost as though it rearms itself?? Might have to just be patient and get a sparky to pull it out!
