  1. Yeah, I'll take it Jason, I'll need it for the October 1 hour.
  2. Gees, what a jig jog track they've turned EC into......... Good vid, looking tat the wiper of the 260, I wonder how rusty felt with the non existent aero on the Pantstearer compared to a GT5 Pantstearer.....
  3. Uhaul do, or at least did, one way hires, but trailers aren't the best for the interstate one way hires through. I've used them a couple of times from Brisbane to Sydney and back. Trailer from Brisbane was a shocker, trailer from Sydney was alright, just a typical heavy hire trailer
  4. Yeah, but mine's bigger than a shitty IMSA wing ;D
  5. As above, still got the bird bath that is almost a direct bolt on for a 240 or 260 coupe. Will need a bit of work to tidy up, but does make the car look more aggressive.
  6. Flick a PM to Patch on here, he has my old shell and maybe able to help. The rack was well and truly broken when the car was written off, but you maybe lucky with the shaft and the rack mounts, which also had brand new poly bushes fitted.
  7. Jason was one year out, Group S covers production sports cars manufactured from 1st January 1941 up to the 31 December 1977. This group is then further split into groups Sa, Sb and Sc depending on year. These cars aren't pukkahg race cars, that is you can get any example of the car and build it to the spec and play. Jason's Group T Sports 2000 and his Chook Cooker for Group U are the real deal, that is they were built and raced in the period that the historic group caters for. As a result, the documentation that competitors are required to obtain, the CoD, takes time and sometimes a lot of dollars, and the value of the genuine cars is generally a lot more than the pretenders as the history and providence of the cars are documented extensively. In some cases cars are taken back to an earlier spec as the value will be more for that particular car at that point of time in it's history. The credence for historic racing is: As it was , so it shall be. Something that is sometimes forgotten by a few competitors. As a result of CAMS and the Historic Racing Commission, Australia has the most correct historic racing anywhere in the world, with all cars except for a few groups, namely N, S, Jb and Kb, having racing history and not changed from the specification they raced in for the era they represent.
  8. MCM is put on by Australian Muscle Car magazine and the meeting is run by the ARDC under a CAMS permit. Some of the categories line up with the traditional CAMS categories, and some don't. For a 5 second penalty to be applied to a car's times at the end of the race, then this would more than likely be for jumping the start. As for the Mustang, if it ran in Group S, then it was/is a GT350 or GT500 replica, which were homologated for sports car racing back in the day. If it was running in Group N, then it could be the olf Geoghan Mustang that ran in improved production racing back in the day, which did allow for more freedoms than the current Group N rules, which are a compromise as it tries to regulate cars from the late fifties, Na, through to the end of 72, Nc and a big variation in category rules, old Appendix J through to series and improved production touring cars.
  9. The man above.... Give be-zed a Pm and I'm sure he will be more than happy to help you out.
  10. To get to Bathurst don't worry about the coast road, getting over the mountains to Bathurst is a bastard pretty much anywhere. The Newell is the best way to go. If it was a trip to the island, then I would go pacific hey and Hume.
  11. For the moment, pretty much each year depending on who the Council gives the contract to. Prodsports should be running their one hour there as well, but I won't be there until 2016 at the earliest when I will have a full comp licence again.
  12. I believe the extra wires in the rear loom may be for electric fuel pump that was fitted in other markets. I'm pretty sure there was no overflow bottle as the Zeds weren't a pressure recovery system, just an overflow hose down the side of the radiator. And that's all I can help with Adam.
  13. Bugger, cant use it for what I want, so all yours Scoota if you want it.
  14. You could do that, but with the age of the car and if you make it look neat I can't see a problem with not venting into the air box. IIRC ADR's for pollution didn't come in until 1974.
  15. Gareth, plumb it into the catch can, that's where you want to catch the oil. The breathers are only plumbed into the airbox for emissions. And with the catch can make sure it's up around 2 litre capacity, it may have to be more depending on what events you are doing, best to check teh CAMS manual on line.
  16. If you could that would be great, thanks.
  17. Not bad for pricing, but if using in your Zed, make sure there is plenty of zinc in the oil.
  18. Doug, what are the dimensions and where are the inlets and outlets positioned. If it fits what I want to throw it in I will take it off your hands. Matt
  19. It's been a while since anything has been able to happen with the new race car. In the last few months I have picked up a few more bits for the race car: complete rear cradle with diff and brakes a couple of sets of mirrors a spare driver's door a couple of sets of tail lights a set of headlights a gearbox Suspension plans have changed a bit with MCA offering an affordable option for coilovers. I will be getting their mid spec, red series, at $2800 a bargain for what you get. The red car was too good to wreck, so yesterday a young bloke from Toowoomba gave me a wad of cash and he drove it away, got to phone the insurance company tomorrow to cancel the cover on it. So this now means that when Lurch has the time he can come up North for a holiday and I get a nice cage signed off for CAMS use. When Lurch was up in July we had a good chat about the cage and we should be both on the same page for what I want in terms of safety and also the secondary effect of chassis stiffening. We have identified how to tie the rear suspension into the cage and we are also going to mount the seat and harness to the cage for what will be effectively a safety cell for me. This will also probably mean I need to get another seat that is better suited to use with the HANS device I now have. The way things are looking I should have the car finished in the second half of next year and testing with hopefully having a run in the last couple of rounds of the Prod Sports series and then a full calendar for 2015. I want to get the cage done as soon as we can so the I can say the car is started and will then keep pushing me to keep going, even if I can't spend too much on it until the chugger is finally finished, which is getting closer, but a little frustrating as it is a fill in job to try to keep the costs down on the checque book restoration.
  20. Love to Richard, but I will be racing at QR in the Cue One Hour Enduro for Prod Sports. Will we be seeing you out there as you won't be running at Morgan Park??? And I'm not saying that sprints are not good for driving, any seat time at the track is good seat time, that's why I do the MX5 club track days. What I have been talking about is racing and racecraft, and with that racecraft the ability to choose when to pass or not pass, how to defend a position on the track where the priority is the position on track which may require the sacrifice of a bit of time. An example of this was explained nicely by Mark Larkham on the V8 telecast today talking about passing at turn 3 rather than through turns 1 and 2 at Winton.
  21. A guy from Toowoomba came down and gave me a wad of cash, so I gave him the keys to the car and he drove off.
  22. And now sold...... so guess what Lurch? It's time to start thinking about a cage for the other one now......
  23. Little bit late for the update, but on the 15th July I took the hairdresser car out to Lakeside. In the morning whilst it was still dry I got down to a 67.0677, so very happy with that for a car that has a 220,000 km motor in it with only extractors and exhaust modified, plus some cheap BC street series coil overs. The rain arrived just before lunch, did one run as the rain started and put the car away for the day, Lakeside isn't fun in the wet and the risk isn't worth it. A wise decision as we had on car come off at the kink at the end of the day, driver was all right, but the car had every panel hit and looking very sad after hitting the tyre wall on drivers right and then spearing across the track into the tyre wall on drivers left. The car is now getting a set of replacement panels including rear quarters to be grafted on, so will thankfully live to play again. Next track day for it will be at QR on the 9th September, so should be able to drop a second or so off the times I was doing out there as I get braver with the car. At Qr there is low risk high reward so I should be able to shave some time off chasing the right guys around. I would hope to be in the 67's for the clubman circuit if the weather is good. If I get the race seat and harness fitted, I would expect another half to one second quicker off the times again as I am held in the car and not hanging on and bracing myself as I try to drive.
  24. Have fun and stay safe so you can regale us with tales of a successful event.
