  1. That sounds promising at least
  2. Oh also, delivery is meant to be 8-10 days but the bloke reckons in his experience it can be up to 6 weeks. Just thought I'd let you know in case you wanted it urgently.
  3. Hi Spamaster, I have just placed an order from the US, but if you let me know within the next 24hours I can probably add a window roller to the order. They are about $25 US plus postage, but I owe you for shipping that crank up to me anyway. Let me know if you are interested. Apparently they fit all models but are different from left to right, which side do you need?
  4. Good news about your car mate. Thursdays aren't generally the best nights for cruises, that's when the bogans are out and the police are a little bit more pedantic about the legality of your car...

Yeah not many cars but not too bad for a first event. That little 60's Mazda Cosmo was awesome. There were quite a few good cars just parked as well. I didn't 'show' as I was originally booked up that day and I really dislike getting up before 10 on a Sunday. So you got an RB garvice? I'll have to swing around at some point.
  6. Pm sent SilverZ. I have just started looking into Edis recently thanks to Garvice. Lots of good info on it over at hybridz. I got 8 ls1 coils for $100 off ebay recently so I'm 1/4 of the way there haha.
  7. OK final price $125 for a finished box. That is carpeted, insulated back and with tuning port and mounting hardware. You will need to drill two holes in the box to secure them (I will supply the screws, finishing cups and quick nut tabs for each box) . The reason I didn't pre drill them is so you can line it up directly with the mounting points on your car. More on this later. If I end up buying the speakers for everyone I will pre-drill the 4 screw holes per speaker to mount them. If you use your own you will just have to drill them yourself (not too hard even Steve could do it ). Steve has the 1st box. Twosixty and Z have dibs on the 2nd and 3rd (you can wait until you see the final pictures if you wish) And I will have 1 left after that.
  8. OK so I have the speaker boxes and they are looking pretty good. Just need to get some insulation for the inside of them and then wait for the invoice from the upholsterer to get the final price for the boxes. Here's a sneak peak, not very clear but I'll get some better photos in the car, out in the sun, once they are done. Turns out they also fit the 2+2's but remember they will fire straight into the back seat. 'Twosixty' and 'Z', if you are still interested once I get the final price sorted out, would you want me to buy the 6x9's and/or amp? Or do you want to use your own? If you do, how much would you be wanting to spend? I'll be buying Steve's so like I said, I could get more of a discount with the more stuff I buy. Cheers Shaun

haha had a few mate? I'll swing by at some point, won't enter the car though. Haven't had time to clean it or anything.
  10. I'm actually ordering some dizzy parts next week. I can get you the breaker plate assembly for a 79-83 280 ZX dizzy for $120 and the Vacuum Advance Unit 79-83 280 ZX Non Turbo for $60. The breaker plate is actually the upgraded one with a metal housing for the ball bearings (these are originally made from plastic and are broken in 90% of dizzy's meaning that the advance won't function correctly). Let me know if you want me to order you some. Cheers Shaun
  11. And I also agree that for $15 you should replace the thermostat. I also have a sinlge, unshrouded electric fan and non coated headers on my daily driver and that doesn't overheat. I've personally never really had a problem with the overheating (except for once when the thermostat died). But in some cases people have had to resort to other aftermarket measures to fix overheating problems.
  12. I don't think its acceptable or necessary that it's overheating, I just think its understandable that a car that is known for running hot from the dealer when it was new, would run hot after 30 years of driving. I'm not saying it can't or shouldn't be fixed .
  13. In that case I imagine your heating problem is quite normal. Not saying it's ok, just that it would be normal for a datsun, especially with air-con (you will have the aircon radiator thing in front of you normal radiator meaning less cool air going onto you radiator). A mechanical fan obviously pushes more air when the engine is revving higher. So if you are idling in traffic in Brisbane on a hot day, I would expect the engine to work up to those temps. If you put on an electric fan, it only kicks in when it gets to a certain temp and will keep working even in you are at a standstill. They don't seem to push as much air as the mechanical fan at speed (but generally the air moving through the engine bay at 60-100kph is enough). I would either recommend a push/pull setup or at the minimum 2 pull fans with a decent shroud. I made up a metal bracket that bolts up to the radiator, you can see my thread here when I was looking into electric fans http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,4003.msg34631.html#msg34631. 260coupe i think it was, said to just go with cheap ebay fans rather than the expensive (but good) davies craig type. Been on my car for about a year and no problem yet. If you have excess money I would say just go for Davies Craig, but yeah the cheap ones seem fine to me. I'm not running a shroud at the moment and generally the temps are fine. I would like to add a shroud though so the fans don't have to work as hard/often. Just have to get around to fiber glassing one up. I would still recommend that HPC on the exhaust manifold as well. Looks good and I think in your case you need to minimise as much heat as you can. Just my 2 cents, I'm in no way an expert :S
  14. I didn't know that either, but you usually powder coat suspension parts and they receive a fair bit of abuse?
  15. Also, if you can afford it, get your exhaust header coated with HPC (High Performance Coating). It will stop a lot of the hot air escaping back into the engine bay. Does your z have hood vents?
  16. Might be a pretty obvious question but have you got a shroud around your fan? What fan are you running? Have you tried a push fan on the front and a pull on the back with a shroud?
  17. Unfinished projects. Believe it or not there have been a few over the years, I just didn't have the money then. I might have got my hands on one atm, should be picking it up next week hopefully but this might all fall through so keep on posting if you have one. Peter where's the rust in yours? My main concerns are the beaver (or slam) panel where the hatch closes, the hatch hinges and then anything in the chassis rails. Sounds like it might be a bit too much work, but thanks for the offer. I take it all of the panels have rust? I.e. no good guards or hood or hatch etc? Haha I like to think it's air-con for the feet Is that because I make the bed... rock?
  18. Hi guys, finally have some money to look at replacing the body on my daily driver, a 74 2+2. Ideally looking for another 74 2+2 with little to no rust (but will definitely consider other years). I don't need anything else but if it's rolling, I'm sure it would help for transport. Ideally in Queensland but will consider other states if the price is right (especially the Z mecca down in Victoria ). Any help would be greatly appreciated. If a cop pulls me over, my car will probably be off the road.
  19. Thanks for the pics mate, but the sunroof has put me off. Good luck with the sale.
  20. I'm keen for one but the new house is eating all my money atm. If you still have one in a few weeks I'll take it then. Cheers
  21. Hey mate, I might be interested in the shell, transport might not make it worth it for me though. Any pics? Particularly of the rust and common places like where hatch hinges, beaver panel and rear guards/sills? Cheers
  22. Broke in half somehow and now it's not long enough to bend up and make contact. Just hoping a cop doesn't pull me over and ask me to test the horn (it's happened before)
  23. Haha I know exactly what you are talking about and I need one too! Think I might just bend up a piece of metal though, nothing too complicated..
  24. I saw this as well but I actually like them black. I normally like everything chrome to be nice shiny chrome but I think it's because of the black vents and the black rubbers on the bumpers, it matches. But it would look good either way
