  1. I have these companies bookmarked for the Honda S800. They appear to have done a few FCR conversions on cars. http://www.v-performance.com/products/air_fuel.html http://www.phildentonengineering.com/product.asp?pid=506 Also try sending a message to Alan (HS30-H). I remember enquiring about this setup on another forum a few years ago and he had some information, or could possibly lead you in the right direction.
  2. f**kn epic!! do you think there will be a problem with hood clearance - as the velocity stacks seem to go upwards? am assuming you will need custom manifold? anyway..this is seriously cool.
  3. My dyno sheet isnt overly exciting, but the next time I am back in sydney I can upload the dynos from a couple of SWR engines. * an east african safari Z L26 with billet crank. * and an engine built for the immaculate (silver with orange stripes) 'WRC' plated Z From memory there isnt too much excitement as far as peak power goes, but quite a difference in how they both achieve it.
  4. I have a 1968 S800 coupe sitting in the garage here in the UK. They are hilarious to drive. 50km/h feels like 100. The noise is immense with individual carbs+no rear silencers from factory. Very chuckable and there is no need to brake for corners (which is good as the brakes themselves are not fantastic). Best part is it costs almost nothing to keep going each year as it qualifies for free road tax! Video for reference: not my car. seems to be a s600 rather than the labeled s800
  5. also very interested in this. Have started collecting bits already - but didnt realise they had a kit in the UK. Mine is predominantly a track car but I was a bit worried going to dual MC would make it even worse on the street if the pedal was excessively hard.
  6. Not sure if it is the same car but there can't be too many blue 2J Z's running around. I took these pictures many years ago when I had my car in at Stewart Wilkins.(2005/6 or so??) I remember poking around and it looked to be a very clean build(also looked like serious $$$). My memory is pretty crap but I remember it had what looked like custom floorpans, strengthened around the diff area, multi piston calipers, rosejointed suspension etc. Always wondered when it would pop up again. SWR also had this awesomeness in at the same time
  7. Im waiting to hear back from topstage about a rear hatch so will ask. Gareth I was going to figure out a mounting system once the G nose was actually mounted(looks a little way off yet). Was going to try and think of a simple frame system so that the splitter would do more than just look pretty. I know someone who has made workable version for a S15 WTAC car but it is a bit more complicated with the G nose.
  8. I could sell it to you... but then I would need to get another one The one listed in the auction is actually quite reasonable- ask to buy it separate from the works overfenders and it comes to about 12000 yen (not including shipping etc) I think size wise it just manages to squeeze into the maximum allowed packaging so shipping cost was ok too - everything arrived in good condition.
  9. Gareth I have the exact front spoiler from the same vendor on yahoo auctions- *(got it through jessestreeter). Kameari can also make the same replica Type A spoiler to order but it is about double the price. An original version of one of these spoilers went on yahoo auctions for over 800 AUS (i stopped looking after it reached that point ). Haven't fitted it all on yet but was going to try and fit it with quick release fittings mainly for trackdays etc. The ones from zccjdm are more like a modified type B style.
  10. two great vids! redrbzed kicking arse and taking names... and mental slide throttles on a L6 Don't know much about them, but I know someone who has some slide throttles off a BMW supertourer, apparently they are great for WOT circuit use but a bit of a pain everywhere else- might have just been the tune though.
  11. great! looks like you got the associated fasteners etc as well which is always handy. What are you going to do with the rear bumper?
  12. Gareth, Would be amazing to see a properly fast trackday G nose car done in period style! I must confess I have been going through the same process on my car. My friend has had an old (apparently genuine) 5 piece G nose sitting in his garage for the past 6 years, and I recently bought some good condition NOS headlight covers from the UK a month or two ago. My initial dilemma was whether or not I would be worried about smashing up the G nose on track. Part of the appeal of my current setup is I feel fairly confident in throwing the car around aggressively knowing there isn't anything that can 't be replaced. I also went through the similar thought process you had a while ago of the old short nose racecars with no bumpers/blocked off radiators etc. Still haven't fully decided which route to take yet, but I'm very interested in how your G nose conversion goes. If the Top Stage parts fit well they would be a perfect local source in case of a frontal shunt!
  13. Hi Kent, If you are near Hornsby try John Spano.(he is also literally about 400m down the road from AllZparts so drop in to see Warren whilst you are there) http://www.yellowpages.com.au/nsw/hornsby/john-spano-body-works-13599779-listing.html He is a one man shop and specialises in rust repair for very reasonable prices. I can't guarantee he can provide exactly what you need for your budget, but he will certainly be able to tell you a no nonsense quote on what is required to get things sorted. I imagine if you were looking for the cheap yet effective technique he will reccomend patching up all visible rusty areas and then fishoiling/waxoyl everything within an inch of its life. The 20k+ quote sounds like a more meticulous job which is obviously the better way of doing it. (most proper baremetal restos are multiple figures more than that though!) I have to book my Z in for some bodywork this year as well, so will be interested to see other reccomendations in this thread. Last I recall, he John wasn't great on the phone or internet and still a bit of a character in real life but much better to deal with face to face. Best of luck.
  14. I've got one of the MJP airboxes. They are based on the TWM airbox but with thicker fibreglass/ carbonfibre outerlayer and external fasteners. The modifications came about mainly due to what Gareth just talked about -(the twm box apparently assisted in detroying an engine when one of the bolts got sucked into the intake!). I haven't fitted mine yet but from what I can see it's built strong and should do the intended job. The carbon fibre weave is a bit crooked in spots but I didn't really buy it for aesthetic purposes. All the dimensions are on the TWM page so you can check if it fits before you go ahead.
  15. ignore substantial engine stand and jumpers....
  16. Something similar has happened on the UK Z car club forums recently. A select few got their hackles up about non donating members beating them to various items, a members only 10 day classifieds system was implemented - and I think those select few are still arguing about the implementation a month later. Meanwhile the remaining users carry on as per normal, just with a more divided community. Sellers complain of the lack of buyers, and buyers complain about the lack of access. More items end up on ebay etc etc. I've just donated, and probably should have done so earlier as I think gav and the admins do a great job on this site, but I think it would be a great shame to divide up the community.
  17. Yep, sydney ones have arrived. thanks a lot to Katokid for getting the ball rolling. I haven't been able to check the condition of the bumpers Loui as I am halfway around the other side of the world, but hopefully everything is ok!
  18. Sorry to hear about this even though I never met him. Condolences to the family.
  19. Am definitely interested, sent you a PM
  20. Thanks Gareth, just checked out your Z diary and count me as a big fan. (I looked into fitting some keihin bike carbs a while back but didn't have the know how to do so!). I'm pretty sure we will run into problems fitting the airbox- for starters my throttle bodies are not of typical design and are angled up(thankfully they are quite short). Might have to fashion up some curved extensions on the intake side to fit the box. I attended a private trackday with almost unlimited laptime, ended up doing around 45 laps in blistering heat and no reliability problems. This was the first time out with the OS Giken r180 lsd(Otomoto sourced) and it was very impressive. No wear in period was necessary and driving around town it is incredibly smooth for a clutch type lsd. I would go so far as to say I didn't even remember we had installed it until we got on track. The alignment hasn't been touched since last year. Previously, the car was fairly neutral with oversteer if you got a bit enthusiastic on turn in. With the lsd, there were a few moments of mild understeer on turn in, but I could basically start putting the power down at the apex. Once the tail did come out, it was very adjustable and predictable. The fastest time I could manage on the day was a 1:12.2 but I'm sure there is at least 2-3 seconds left in finetuning the driver and alignment . That particular lap was quite oversteery and I still don't have 100% confidence in the brakes yet. Unfortunately I probably won't be able to improve on this until next year. Ideally speaking I would like to get everything sorted before we get more power. Having only 118-120 rwkw is quite noticeable on the straights so we are still working hard on installing the mega engine. This week we have wired up most of the adaptronic, bought a whole bunch of fittings($$) and oil cooler, hopefully will fire it up on the engine stand later in the week. Some parts of the engine are causing a bit of headscratching but it is interesting to see the previous engine builder try something new.
  21. The last trackday (2009 december) was a bit of a disaster. in short: * new rear control arms combined with fresh r888's = fantastic stability and traction out of corners. No more nervous oversteery moments. I'm sure a lot of time was made up here just due to confidence in the car. * lsd was not installed in time but was not missed due to more grip than power at the moment. Am in two minds as to whether or not the new engine may diminish the 'chuckability' of the car. - The brakes had epic failure on the back straight. lost all pressure and a red warning 'BRAKE' light appeared on the dash(never even knew this existed but I thought if a car from the 70's tells you the brakes are failing, I best prepare myself for pain). We suspect a master cylinder failure, the car had been sitting around for a while and when we flushed they system through for the trackday, something may have damage the seals or become corroded over time. Anyway it has been sent off and reconditioned with stainless bits so it wont happen again. Fastforward to this year: * I'm returning back to OZ for a week and will try and squeeze in 1 or 2 trackdays in that time. * the OS Giken LSD is finally installed (along with RT style diff mount)- can't wait to see how it goes. * We have most of the bits ready for the new engine: (adaptronic, injectors, new fuel system, airbox, airhorns) - What we do not have is time, will have to work day and night to hopefully get the engine in and tuned within 5 days (LOL) Worst comes to worst we will run 1 trackday with just the diff and standard engine, and try for the 2nd trackday with new engine. New injectors and their boots not my engine bay, but the same airbox. It is a modified TWM fibreglass( carbon outer) airbox (deletes any inbound fasteners that may get sucked into the engine) from MJP auto in the UK.
  22. great car! lots of attention to detail. Did Jan @jancarfactory do the interior? looks very familiar. I have been in contact with him about doing some bits and pieces but communication is slow.
  23. SWR in sydney do a set http://www.swmotorsport.com/ $450 They won't break the bank and they are built strong, but whether or not you will see any performance change from what you have already is doubtful.
  24. the wheels are in motion again.. Cleaning up the electrics by rewiring the whole car with racecar switches/connectors etc OS Giken r180 lsd ordered(otomoto), adjustable RCA's on their way from techno toy tuning(seems to be a quality product at a relatively affordable price!). I also gave up looking for decent street tyres in 225/50/15 and it's getting a set of r888's now. Hopefully will have the springs/alignment sorted for Wakefield in November/December.
  25. great stuff! love the colour choice as well. The well considered choices in the details set it apart from your standard projects!
