  1. That looks like a great starting project. Congrats on the purchase
  2. Nizmo, just go out & measure your struts - if the strut tube has a OD of 51mm, they will fit.
  3. Welcome. Least it's not Silver...
  4. It's got a bit of Metalic in it now Shane, so I dunno Rev. Dave has offered to paint it for me (after I badgered him to do it ) & it'll be painted in Acrylic - so nothing fancy. Also, I've finished the PS door! It's not perfect, but by the time it's been high-filled & painted it should be good. Now onto the DS door!
  5. Hehehe, it's the fiddly stuff that takes the time to work through... Stick at it Mike - it'll be awesome when it's done
  6. Yeah, I might need a 'Gurney Bubble' the way I'm going Craigo PGZ, I'm a Boilermaker/Welder by trade so I'll have no problem in re-engineering the floor mounts. I wanted to install the cage myself to save a few thousand, as a 4130 molly cage tower to tower is around 6k... I'll ring Brown Davis & see what they say - they may bend up the bars to suit. I'd also have to clarify with CAMS about the legality of Tig welding it up myself... As long as it all clears, I'll be happy. Though I think I'll be looking for the narrowest 'winged' seat I can find, with side mounting capability. Shut-up, you tubby bastard
  7. PZG, yeah I've seen the universal seat mounts that the above mentioned brands have. My problem is being so tall & trying to get the seat back as far as possible WITH a cage in there too. I think I'm still going to have to mod the seat mounts on the floor of the Zed to get me low enough with a helmet on (it'll see some track time). I'm going to be fitting a 6pt welded in cage - maybe tower to tower. I'll get a kit from Bond in NSW, that way I can adjust it to suit my needs. It's going to be a road car so I won't be fitting door bars (yet).
  8. Some great responses guys - thanks! FWIW I'm 80kgs & 6'4 (196cm), so for that fact alone I need to find a tall seat with a narrow base for my 'petite' arse It looks like a Sparco or Velo might be the go, so when I need the seat I'll head down to a couple of the race shops & see whats suitable. A couple of other thing's I'll be doing is lowering the original seat mounts on the floor so I can get the seat low enough. Also, I'll be fitting a cage, so the seat clearing that will also have to come into consideration. Hrmmm... Much to think about!
  9. No. The ID is too small. 2+2 struts are 55mm OD.
  10. Well with thanks to Ben (Dzeyene) I now have a VERY good idea of what I want! Honest opinions guys?
  11. Guys, I'll be needed to buy a pair of race seats for the 2seater at some stage, so I thought I'd ask what fixed back, bucket race seats people reccommend? Bare in mind they must be 'reasonably' priced, be CAMS/FIA approved and be narrow enough to fit in the Zed. Sco_Aus reckons OMP Daytona's are crap because they fall apart, so who else has had experience with race seats?
  12. OOOOOOOHH! Hot Damn! Similar to what I want to do now... Anyone good with PhotoShop?
  13. You might be right Dimitri. 240 & early 260 used the same, if not very similar damper insert. 260 2+2 & late 260/280Z rear inserts are longer & the glad nut is a different because of the larger strut tube, IIRC...
  14. Sul, I re-oiled the origanal inserts in the Bus - I used ATF & it worked a treat! 240 inserts are the same IIRC Aftermarket inserts like KYB's & Tokios (sp) can't be re-oiled (Unless you do something dodgy...).
  15. Spot-on Chong. I just wear Polarized sunnies
  16. Smartarse! Least I'm not following the pack & fitting flares...
  17. Yeah I'd head of Steve Lamb - I think he may have been a member on here ages ago... I do remember his Zed too - I think the last time I saw it at the Island he'd converted it to EFi & used the Webers as the throttle boddies! Mick, the Japs always improve on things the Poms design so I'd stick the round top Hitachi's on
  18. Well I've made a rare mistake... The SU's I bought are REAL SU's - 'Made in Birmingham'! They are probably off a Triumph or Ovlov. Nevermind, they fit & they work!
  19. Chris I'm VERY tempted not to change the colour. It's never been resprayed either & the paint is in pretty good nick. I was origanally going to paint it a different, very bright colour, but I think with a black rear 'spook', black Fairlady side strips & maybe some black or body colour bumpers* & the Rota's, it'll look pretty good... *I don't have any bumpers for it.
  20. If these additives were any good, they'd put them in the oil to begin with...
  21. I think we really need to start a 'Idle Chat Thread' in off topic for this sort of banter... Locked.
  22. Evan mate, just keep driving the Superpoo & concerntrate on the Zed. Heck, bring it down to me & I'll fix the Zed for you! FWIW I bought a R30 Skyline - stock as a rock - for this very reason. It's fairly boring to drive & I've resisted the temptation to mod it, & for that reason I haven't had any issues with it
  23. Zedback, the orig. door skin is basically rusted out along the bottom & the condition of the frame had me concerned. I have a brand new (apprears to be Gen. Nissan!) door skin that I'll be fitting BTW, here is the tool I made that is used to peel back the door skin lip from the frame:
  24. Ah nerts! Would have saved me $175 Chris Don't ask, don't receive I guess... I'll get a pic of them & post up later.
  25. Yep. Shift is much more positive with the 280ZX box - & I have NFI why?
