  1. I've got an orange and white one i bought off ebay as i got to impatient, obviously i should of waited a little bit longer! but ohwell, one of them is pulled completely apart ready to be repainted, i've very tempted to buy an r34 for the engine to stick it in there. the windows are the biggest pain to take out but its easily fixed with a drill bit, and hopefully superglue will hold it all back together fine
  2. searched for wilwood handbrake on hybridz and someone had made their own http://alteredz.com/brakemods.htm i saw a similar thing using 300zx brakes i think, mayb JSK could make up some for the group buy also? i think getting 10 interested people is going to be pushing it a bit to far, as doesn't running them mean u can't race in historic classes?...or unless 1600's etc can use them, or u advertise off the internet somewhere also. I'm happy even if its just cheaper on shipping and have some help sourcing all the parts, as that was one question i had in terms of getting new brake pads and rotors down the track.
  3. I am very interested, so count me in, i was just trying to look into all this myself, but couldn't find the link to JSK until nzeder posted it... if its half the price mayb its using cheaper calipers? could we source these locally along with the pads/rotors? i wasn't able to find a site that had pricing on all the bits locally but gave up pretty fast lol and does the handbrake still work? the only wilwood kit i've seen where it still worked had a seperate caliper for it
  4. off topic but what brakes are you going with? are you still peicing together the factory bits from various cars or have u decided to just get arizonaZcar brakes? if so what r u diong about a handbrake? with the exchange rate so good i'm more than tempted...
  5. i agree, i'd hate to sell out my car but u must have to do what u have to do,well i'm interested in knowing a bit more about a few of the items, i would just pm these questions to you but thought others might be interested also where are the engine mounts from? or are they custom? i assume there's no matching gear box mounts? are r33 brakes vented? what diameter are the rotors? 4 piston? those same questions for the rear brakes and which calipers are they using? are they all for 4 stud? sorry, i know i could just search for some of this info on the net... regarding the shocks, which is the item i am most interested in, how much were the struts shortened, assuming they were? are the shocks adjustable? different adjustments for rebound and compression? do they have a retaining spring or are they using a varible rate spring? what spring rates are currenting in the set up? what diameter spring do they use? and i guess knowning how much this setup cost you would be interesting
  6. how much r they? i was thinking they'd never come out so bought a couple from amerca...although i do want more
  7. in vic the laws states the tyres can only be 1" wider than stock each, and the total track width can only go 1" wider too, which would mean each wheel can b 1/2" wider on the inside and outside than the widest specified by the manufacturer for that vechical in japan you could get 10" wheels as a factory option...not that we have gone out of our way to check that whoever needs to be ok with it agrees with this, but no troubles so far, and i've had some cops stay behind me for quite awhile or drive past quite slowly while its parked somewhere etc and they havn't done anything also apparently CAMS approves the use of 11" wheels on a zed which reinforces the 1" wider than the largest stock wheel thing
  8. a mate showed me this car, and those exact photos, when it was up for sale and it looks like a nice paint job from the pics! although i do agree with george's view on the flares, i dont think they really flow with the rest of the body (no sharp lines, doesn't pic up on any other shape on the car etc), but then i think the same about the rbz featured car and its very VERY sexy so they can be made to work i do like the bonnet though, and they are going to b even cooler soon now misterbitchi has got the same vents on their hotted up 380. since you didn't do or choose the body work i'm sure you wont take to much offense to it, and i'm sure it will grow heaps on you if it hasn't already, specially as you do some changes to make it how you want it, and soon i'm sure even george will b drooling over it! is it a new train or an old one? i reakon the ones with the open carridges are trippy...
  9. watanabes, they were a factory option in japan and look amazing even when not in bling form personally i dislike 260z rims on a 240z, and dislike 280zx iron cross rims, however i dont mind the swastika's or snowflake rims, or the 6 spoke ones
  10. i came across those pics too sulio, thats the kind of colour i'm thinking of going with, but mayb a bit more yellow, all the colours i've mixed up so far are still way to much on the yellow side when on a large surface, but when mixing small amounts it looks really green, also it changes heaps depending on the lighting, but anyway... http://picasaweb.google.com/srcartermd is another car thats the 70's lime 240z colour and here is an excert of what he said to me "To me, the degree of yellow vs. green depends on the light. It is ALWAYS yellow, but the green-ness comes out a little more under fluorescent light or on cloudy days. In bright sunlight it looks more yellow, but without the orange/brown hues so many modern yellows have. For a current comparison, it is less green and more yellow than Lotus' Krypton Green or the similar yellow-green Lamborghini uses on their Gallardo/Murcielago, but equally as eye-catching (despite the car.)" anyway going off topic! on another topic one thing thats good about driving in peak hour is you get to see how bad the orange peel is on heaps of brand new cars lol, makes me feel good about the results i've gotten with a roller!

    WORK

roh are only cast, those work rims would b forged...well i hope so anyway! hehe, its definately giong to look sexy!
  12. do not get a del sol purely based off their apperance lol, get some form of vti-r couple/hatch instead. if i could find a 2nd gen SiR for 7g or less i'd buy it, but unfortunately they are a complete rip off and you may as well buy a renault clio sport instead imho, as hardly any cop attention compared to a riced out honda and is a 2000+ car instead of early 90's like an SiR my zed has been great to me reliablity wise, but its not a new car. i was completely aware of this, but i'm craving a newer car after having both it and a 2nd gen crx. like you sulio i've hardly serviced it as i'm waiting for the engine to blow. Trying to drag people off at lights is pointless as previously stated, however its still alot of fun around twisty roads in second gear The zed's insurance is really that cheap that if you had CH plates its really not going to b costing you anything a year, so if i were JP240z i'd hold onto the car, but it depends if you want to use the money for something else i guess. when ur speeding that much it takes awhile for you to loose your licence anyway due ot havig to arrange a court date lol
  13. i bought my zed as my first car, i sometimes wish that i'd bought one that had already had alot of work done to it, although i didn't have much money to play around with. i agree with others that for the same price there are other cars that would be better as a daily, but it depends what you are happy putting up with. my car has not broken down on me and i have not been being nice to it, well except for the clutch pressure plate going, but i wasn't being nice to it so it was my own fault. Although in winter particually it would b nice to have a car which has demisters that work along with a heater thats hot, and air conditioning in summer, and there is something about having door panels which are more than a peice of covered chipboard that i would now love to have as a level of luxury in a daily driver. Also having idiots hit your car in daily driving is something i am scared of. if CH plates were 90 days a year i would get them in a second and buy another car to get written off like my crx lol Before my zed i hadn't mucked around with the mechanics of a car much, its all easy enough, just giant mechano, and have since changed the clutch and diff along with the normal stuff. This was another reason i was happy buying a zed that wasn't the nicest out there, as that 13g one on car sales i would be scared to touch or drive. If i could do it all again i would look into buying a rwd corolla station wagon that was 4age powered, or could have one put in it pretty easily, then buy a real nice zed like the one on car sales later on in life...or a go kart

    WORK

should we ask how much? also what diameter are you getting? and what widths are they going to be?
  15. mayb look into getting a go kart - less panel damage lol, very competitve classes, and about 4g a yr to run a 5g kart semi competitively depending how excited you get with buying new tyres. Yearly membership at oakleigh, and prob some other clubs is $300ish and you get your own set of keys to the track i've been wondering about the same sorta thing, but mainly just for hillclimbs and other events where its not directly against other cars, and was debating modifying my car more as i'd like to do it anyway, or a go kart, i still havn't really decided anythign but to do both. i have the same issue of it being my daily driver but using public transport to get to uni etc. My brother has a 100S kart and it cost him as much as my suspension is...and i want to get better suspension anyway now lol sell your car and buy the rb30 zed?
  16. they are SSR reverse mesh, atleast thats what sprinter ppl seem to refer to them as, their are alot of others that look close, but none of htem has as nice a center where the bolts come in, however i'd assume new they are the same price as any jap forged rim, and second hand they are probably pretty rare in the size to fill the flares i'd look through one of the import magazines and get the numbers for some places that will import volk wheels and they should be able to get them, or try the guy in perth who can get watanabes as i belive watanabes are also made by speed star racing? http://www.gruppe-s.com/SSR/SSRFullReverse.htm US$482.84 each for 16x8.5... beautiful car scando, is it an efi turbo using parts from a 280zx or a carby setup?
  17. hmmm i agree that the white balance isn't correct in the first pic, however all the greens in the picture are pretty accurate, atleast on my monitor lol. there really wasn't anything in the pics to lift the colour at all as its all really greys and greens so i like you what you've done, but it aint that colour green in person its the more boring orginal photo colour, atleast in that light hehe, i'm pretty sure its the same colour as the rb26 260z in qld, but another green would b nice...anyway i htink i've had to long a day and picking a mate up from the airport this morning didn't help! i assume u'd also happily take pictures for people, adjust them and then print them posters if they wanted? sounds like a nice engine setup you have planned there, r you doing that to nigels car or your project one?
  18. whats with all you ppl photoshoping my car to be a different green? trying to make me get it painted a different green huh? lol how about removing the damage off the side of my car?
  19. i interpret that is the widest optional tyre availble, and since there is the factory options booklet for s30's which contains a 10" rim i'd say u can go to a 13" rim hehe. would b shattering if 253 is the widest...as have 255's lol. i was reading the sydney law and it said that 8" wheels is the widest you can go on the front. and it sounded like this overrulled the 1.3 statements
  20. there's a picture of a silver/gold gnose'd car thats clearly got slightly wider normal styled zg flares, they are a fair bit more horizontal and look tougher, although those race style ones are kind of special
  21. do the setup that some new bike engines have where basically velocity stack extensions are moved into place when needed taken from http://www.motorcycle-usa.com
  22. yeah even the stock flares are pretty close to not covering the 9.5" -19 wheels, particually when viewed from certain angles! someone needs to make copies of the wider zg flares some of the cars in japan run, they look like they've give an extra 1/2" or so i'd b down for a pair of the rear ones
  23. ohwell, still interesting non the less, love the c210, i want to buy one of htem to hack around in...well hack around more in than i do in the zed lol i know a guy who got one for a grand on gas with koni's in it, hopefully i can find a similar sort of deal for a cheap daily and get things happening on my car more so
  24. goodwork, an rb swap is looking more and more attractive to me as i know i will never regret it, where at some point i might regret putting in a toyota motor, and since i'm not going to b chasing massive power it doesnt' really matter which is the better engine, although faster for cheaper is always a good thing...
