  1. The 6.5's may just barley fit on the front, but the 7.5's have no chance of fitting front or rear of a standard S30 z. About the maximum backspacing you'd want to fit a z is about 110mm by my calculations.
  2. Hi Wedgey, I was just wondering why you changed to the napz manifold in the first place.
  3. Are you sure the jets are missing? The jets might still be there under the cowling panel. Take a photo of the firewall a i'll see if i can point them out.
  4. he probalby replaced the guards with ones from a 260Z.
  5. What year is it? Early 240z's never had compliance plates. As for fitment. there was no standard place to put them. It was up to the individual dealers i believe.
  6. theres an error in the spreadsheet in regard to the z philes zoom articles. Part 8 is in zoom number 37, not 33.
  7. Well its been 3 years and i've managed to strip the car back to a bare shell. Still need to finish stripping the underside. The car is spread over 2 houses, (the one i'm renting and the chassis is back up at the parents house.) over 30km apart. I have a big shed here, but when you have a big empty space you always seem to end up with another car or two, so now the shed is full. I plan to take a long hoilday from work and get one of the cars closer to being back on the road. Working full time and restoring a car is difficult (if you insist on doing as much of the work yourself). Previous restorations I've done have been while I was studying, so I had lots of free time. I haven't had time to work on the cars or even update my blog at http://www.datsun240z.tk/
  8. Thats CSP311 for the Silvia. SP310 and SP311 & SR311 for the Roadster. Heres some more: Alan Bents Silvia Home page: http://www.angelfire.com/ns/silvia/index.html Datsun world. http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Pit/3823/index.html I think Alan did all of them, (including the DSOA queensland site)As a web designer, he makes a good car restorer. And it sucks how they are on freeservers, due to the ads, pop-ups, and outages due to exceding bandwidths.
  9. The article posted above is from Road and Track, October 1970. (Modified Classics) Retro Cars November 2004. Tried to add a picture, but it wouldn work.....
  10. If someone offered me $2000 for thos rims, i'd sell them for $2500 and buy some watanabes, or konig rewinds. The spoked rims look at home on a MG, I dont think they suit japanese cars. Car looks nice though. The guards have been flared out a bit. Oh, and when you say Datsun 72 spoke rims, i hope your not under the impression that they were made by datsun, or that they came standard or as an option on the 260Z. I bet they are an after market mag. Datsun never used spoke type mags on their cars that i'm aware of.
  11. Huh? You mean 1969 240Z right? I really didnt want to get into the Australian 1969 240Z thing. Thats not what I was asking. (By the way, latest research indicates that RHD HS30 #3 was build in/from oct 1969, but no one knows where the car went, if anywhere or whether it was used in crash testing. Eariest Z in Aus is #4 which may have been built months after #3, but I doubt the owner will want to start pulling it apart to find dated parts in it. It's currently thought to be a early 1970's car, so yes there are no 1969 datsun 240Z's in Australia). Currently I'm guessing the 240Z went on sale around September 1970. (these cars would have been built in early to mid 1970). Thers a photo of what I believe is car #4 in the press kit. (Vic) Rego number KNL 127. If anyone has any early Australian car magazines with 240Z articles from around that period i'd be interested in getting scans of them so i can read them (send me a PM for my email address). I've collected some from magazines from ebay, but the earliest I have is Wheels June 1971.
  12. It was featured in Zoom Magazine a couple of years ago. Copies pop up on ebay from time to time. I think theres one on there right now.
  13. Does anybody know for sure when the 240Z went on sale in Australia? I've seen people selling cars claim that their car is a 69 car, or a 3/1970 car. I just saw the advert for car #134 which says its a 11/1970 car, which seems to fit with the official press release kit for the 240Z that I have, and was probably among the first shipment of cars to come to Australia The press release kit is dated September 21, 1970, and specified not for release before am September 27, 1970. So if the car was for sale since March, why wait untill the end of September to release details to the press? If anyone Knows for sure when the 240Z went on sale let us know. I'll be asking a someone I know that worked for a datsun dealer around that time, to see if he remembers.
  14. Some more homework for you Gav. Z home article: Building a 3.1 litre stroker motor for your Z http://zhome.com/rnt/3.1Cobb/3.1engine.htm and another Geocities Site: Datsun 3.1 Stroker http://www.geocities.com/inlinestroker/
  15. The guy that did the 3D renderings also has some paper cars. The type you print out, and stick together. http://art66.hp.infoseek.co.jp/index.html Heres the ZG http://art66.hp.infoseek.co.jp/fart66002_pap09_005.htm
  16. Quick, flog it on ebay for $35.
  17. FYI Got a price for watanabes from an Australian distributor: The price is $2110.00(R Type 16 x 9 -13 / 16 x 9.5 -19) It includes shipment fee also.
  18. i see your fat z and, raise you one fat porsche
  19. or the badges werent that great, or one was missing.... Interior door panels aren't original either are they? Look like 260 ones to me. 240z never had stripes in them, that i've seen.
  20. Theres a project car for sale in the classifieds forum: http://www.viczcar.com/v-web/bulletin/bb/viewtopic.php?t=403
  21. Theres also a 240Z on ebay, but you wont see it unless you search for "datsun 240" http://search.ebay.com.au/datsun-240_W0QQfromZR40
  22. It's your car, do what you like. If your worried about resale value, some buyers prefer to get the car with the original engine (the engine number thats stamped into the id tag). But that mostly applies to the 240z, and sticklers for originality. You can keep the original motor as well, and have your fun with the L28, and if you ever decide to sell the car, you still have the original engine that gan go with it. If you dont go with the L28, you can still do some work to the L26 to increase the power. Body numbers and engine numbers the same? Dunno what you mean. the engine number is never going to be the same as the chassis number.
