I have a collection of old school articals on the S30. I plan to post a new artical every week or so. All of these articals are from the 70's so I'm guessing there will not be any copyright issues. If there are lets just keep this our little secret fellas!!! Some of these old school reads are performance comparsions with direct competition the 240/260/280 had in it's day and others are on old school modifications. Always interesting to compare price of performance parts for Z's back in the early 70's. This first one is the Pete Brock, BRE story with the 240Z. Enjoy the artical! Thanks Callum, Got the photo of the window holder. I believe I have the late 260 holder but it still does'nt show the mechanism. I will have try to fit the 240 part. If this works I would be glad to send you the 260 mechanism if you need the right hand side seeing it would just be lying around in the garage anyway. I'm guessing you should have got the strutt braces today. Don't stress though, if they go astray they are insured anyhow so I'd work something out if that was to happen. Cheers Sulio

Those wheels look great. Try to measure up your adapters to fit those 8 inch size rims at the back to fit 225. The combination of 205 front and 225 are a good fit and look nice and chunky at the rear without having heavy stearing at the front. Sulio

I always thought 2 pak was better. I think acrylic tends to fade and needs more polishing to stay shiny but then again thats not a very informed opinion. I went for 2 pak! Sulio

Hi Ben, I got them custom made from the US. I've been quite happy with them but I've decided I want that deep dish flared look so I'm moving on to 3 piece 9.5 inch wheels. If your not sure about adapters your welcome to try my ones out once I get my new wheels. That is if I've still got them. You can order them from the company listed below and they make them to custom sizes. I decided to go for 1.75 inch thick with 114.3mm PCD and 66.1 centre bore, keeping in mind you can always get them machined down should you decide to change wheels with diff offset. www.ezaccessoty.com From memory you'll pay about AUD$400 shipped to Melbourne. What about a bright orange with a glowing interioir lights and some fur on the roof! hehehe I reckon stick to black now that you've got the recaros, they look like they're in great nick, as we spoke about the other day be carefull not to turn the car into one of those projects that goes for 5 years and eventually ends up for sale as uncomplete project. Hmmm...gav should I started putting away 50 bux a week for this one. I have a place that will trim all 5 peices of carpet up in black for you for $50. A bit of vinyl paint goes a long way to fixing up those plastics in the rear and your dash is already done hey!? I reckon you could have the whole interior looking tip top within a weekend, just by new diamond trim from the US. I think that will only set you back a few hundred. I've had a hick up with the drivers door glass on my latest 240 project, door was dissasembled when I bought the car and theres a lot of spare parts that came with the car. Got it all back together easily enough but it looks like I might have used late 260 winding mechanism. Can anybody here tell me if there is a difference between the 240 and the later 260 2 seaters window winding mechanism seeing there is an apparent difference with the later model 260 2 seater doors? Hi Evan, I bought the 240 about 3 weeks ago. It was a car that sat with a panel beater I know for years and I dropped in too see him recently. I'd been bugging him over the year to see if he'd sell it to me seeing it had no rust and was very original. When I dropped in I noticed he'd recently painted it red again and the interior was still sitting next to it. He had leased half his factory out to a mechanic so he was pressed for space. So I offered to buy it again and he sold it to me. I have since got the dash reskinned, got new carpets bought new window seals to be fitted and pretty much got the interior looking very fresh . I've got the dash in but still to connect all the wiring, will do that next week. I don't think I will be able to afford to keep it seeing we've already got 3 cars at home and there's only the two of us so I'll put it up for sale in about a month. Keeping it would be nice though, best of both worlds!!! Cheers Sulio

I know that costa is in the process of installing coilovers in his car and from memory he offered me the same set up. It was far less than $3500 but Like Nate said it depends on the type of shocks quoted etc. Give Costa in Clifton Hill a call if you can reach him, I know he's quite busy. 0422 259 727.

Hi Dave, Got the flares from a fella in SA who made up a mould and makes them when he has time. His name was Zkid located on www.classiczcars.com. There is also ZR240, (Ashleigh), a member here you might already know that has an original set he brought back from Japan. I believe Ash was about to start making them. Try looking him up in the members section if you up for a set. I think there are a few fellas here looking for them. I was looking for a set of 16" B45 Simmons. I thought for a reasonable price I could have got the outer made up to be a good size to suit the ZG flared look but I found it hard to find a set with correct offset and PCD to start with. I was told it would cost $150 a wheel to get the outer sections rolled. My calculations were that those Simmons would be hard to find for less than $800 a set 2nd hand if your really lucky and then theres the alterations. I guess you've been lucky enough to source a set or perhaps I'm just too impatient! hehe what ever the case I bet you can't wait to get them on and I look forward to seeing some pics. Will you widen the wheels if you mount flares on the car? I'm away for the week of Oct 31st but if that changes I might consider going, still a bit far off to know. Cheers Sulio

hehe-good eye Gav. I've always thought that green is a nice colour for cars of our vintage, quite classy and racey. Yer I've been piss farting around trying to tell myself that flares might be overkill but the reality is there are'nt any nice examples of fat ZG flared out s30's in Australia that I've come across. From memory there was a car at Goulbourn last Nationals but I did'nt get a chance to check it out properly. Looking at the car above I just don't undersatand how anybody could look at that and not like it. My GF does'nt like the idea of flares, she nodded her head when I said I bought some flares for my datsun. I just think it needs to be seen in person to be fully appreciated. Find out soon enough. Does'nt matter anymore anyway now that I have a 2nd Z thats a perfect example of a stock straight clean 240 with fresh paint and interior sitting in my garage. Ha and that one is red too!!! Sulio
